Nero knew the differences were there, of course they were. It was easy to distunguish. But the one difference were Hellhounds were strong enough to take them on. He rolled his eyes constantly at the children who got murdered by hunters, not knowing who they really were. It was why he was so cocky as well Ky’lar thought he’d killed Nero’ brother but of course that was difference between hellhounds and demons. They didn’t share their secrets. If you say so. Just like most people don’t have a choice to be stupid. Like you for instance. And there was the cockiness, the look on his face reading the simple notion of ‘i know something you don’t know’. Childish maybe but now Nero had seen why Marrick annoyed the other so much he was having too much fun.

ky had managed to hear more than enough insults in his life to the point where they rarely ( if ever ) dug deeper than he personally let them. he was a mistake, an abomination, and in his mind… he never was human. maybe at one time he was close to it, but ky’lar gave up that part of himself long ago.

there was no turning back from this, not when he already had given up any sort of ‘life’ he could have had away from hell. not when it was quite clear that the only way he would ever amount to anything was to show and prove what he could do, “i highly doubt that.” even with the look, ky didn’t change his mind on his words, “— but enlighten me. if i’m so stupid… how have i survived this long?”
