The phrase was the first that had come to his mind. If given time, he was certain he would be able to invent far superior insults to use. Though his arrogance had dwindled somewhat in his interaction’s with Earth’s mortals, there was the rare occasion when it was prone to surfacing again– especially if provoked.
Such a time had arrived in the form of Ky, who, completely unaware to the thunderer, was born of the demon’s taint, even though it wasn’t Muspelheim that had spawned his wretchedness. “Would you like me to continue? Do forgive me but I find myself in the mind that you mortals are all– how do they say it? – oh, yes, all bark and no bite!” At least that’s what he had wished to believe in any case.
And then the threat filled his ears. The second he heard Ky express his terrible intentions, Thor’s behaviour changes. Gone is that earlier look of boastful confidence, replaced by a hardened veneer that saw his brows furrow and bright eyes clouding with suspicion. “Come again? I could’ve sworn you had just threatened me.”
Clenching his fists, he briefly taps into the lake of his power, feeling the air charge and crackle with an energy that was his to command. If Ky wished to go down this road, the thunderer was not going to stop him.
In fact, he welcomed such a foolish decision.
“Because if you did, I’ll be there to face you in every town and settlement you dare to visit before even considering bending the knee to the likes of you.”
it was more than just a simple threat. it was a promise. something that ky would do to get what he wanted. it wouldn’t have been the first time he did something like this and it wouldn’t be the last. he only had an ounce – in his mind – of his father’s power, but it would still be enough to handle this.
true, he never faced off against a god before, but there was no doubt in his mind he could handle it. a burst of overconfidence was all he needed and then he could focus on the task at hand. to come out of his in one piece… he would have to go through with everything and prove that he was to be feared. if not for himself… for his reputation.
though the truth of the matter was that he didn’t want to go down this road. he didn’t want to take out whole cities just to get one god to bow before him. no, that was heading in the direction of his father, and yet… he didn’t see anything wrong with it. nor did he have any inclination to stop while he was head. not now at least.
“an’ i’ll be ready.” it was a bold statement, even bolder considering what he was doing to do. he had killed before, but it was all for a purpose. all for a direct reason and never just to force someone to bend the knee. no, this was uncharted territory, and something that he there was no doubt he could ever come back from. “to face you at every town and every corner of the globe. people will die until you bend the knee. “
