And so they were, but at a great cost. Countless individuals had been wiped from existence, ‘dead’ for all intents and purposes until they found Thanos and reversed the process. To that end, they were in luck. The trail he had left behind was warm, and the god of thunder had all the determination he’d ever need to track him down. Of course, it helped that he now wielded an enchanted axe imbued with teleportation abilities, but that was seen as irrelevant without knowledge of the mad titan’s current location.

But they were close. He could feel it in his bones, limbs trembling with the anticipation of battle. Accompanied by heroes, oddities and misfits, they came upon a planet with no name, or at least one that no longer held meaning. Some had called this rust coloured world Titan in the past, and all but one of its inhabitants had perished. The same goliath that he remained determined to behead.

Letting the party of fighters mill about the craft that ferried them to this distant region of space, Thor keeps at a distance, claiming he needed to focus but the real reason ran deeper. He could not bear to look in the eyes of his allies, not after letting Thanos snap his fingers, and even took to flying alongside the spaceship rather than stay cooked up inside of it, not needing an atmosphere to breathe.

He’d messed up but he was on the verge of making amends. It was all that he could think about, after losing so much.

the words were said more out of observation than anything else; it was the end game for everyone. trillions had died due to one mistake. one simple mistake for not aiming for the head or even the hand. true, thor had done his best, but ky wasn’t even allowed to fight; orders were orders – even when from his grandfather.

what he saw was chaos, but he was only allowed a glimpse; now, with thor – with the rest of what he could consider an army? he saw what a war – a true war – was really like.  people knew the risks, but were needed to finish this battle; the lives lost today would pale in comparison to the lives thanos already had taken.

still, even ky knew that the chance of success this time was higher than last time, but thanos could ( quite possibly ) do another snap. this time, he could take out life everywhere… if he wished. though, it was also possible that thanos could wipe out the entire so-called army. it wouldn’t even take more than a simple move – something that…ky was even afraid of.

there was no turning back now; not even if every fiber of his being wanted – no demanded that he do so. this wasn’t his war – it wasn’t his fight. the matters of the realms – nine or otherwise wasn’t his own.

he didn’t even know what his own fight was anymore; he should have just stayed where he belonged. at least there he could just watch and pace himself – not have to deal with this. maybe everyone was right; he was still a child. not that it mattered now,  he was in what seemed like a no-win situation, and there was no way out of it.

maybe thor was rubbing off on him; making him actually care about more than just himself. maybe or maybe it would be just a short time thing – everything would go back to ‘normal’ once thanos was gone. maybe then ky could find a way to claim what was his or… he could just make that bloody choice to rid himself of his other half; that part of him he was struggling to still gain control of – even though it was just under skin ( in quite a literal ) way.

however, he still had a favor to ask of the god – true, he hated him ( wanted to rip him apart at times ), but he was one of his only way’s back to mephisto’s realm. as much as he hated it… at least there he was safe ( more or less ) and he’d be able to actually train ( even if it meant possibly giving up whatever was left of his humanity ).

“— a reason to why if this goes wrong and you fail,” again, “i’m going back home – actually, i’m possibly going back home either way, but… i want you to use the bifrost to send me back.” though, it was clear by the shakiness of his voice… that was the last thing he wanted, but ky was starting to learn sometimes you couldn’t do what you wanted. you had to do what was necessary… for everyone.
