❛ i don’t think that as someone who just admitted to having no taste in fashion you can be a judge of whether it looks bad or not. ❜   a deep breath, her frustrations were leaking through like water through a broken barrage.   something like that shouldn’t have brought out so many negative emotions all at once, but weren’t demons supposed to look good all the time ?   so people would want to be them instead of running tinto the other direction.   ❛ for the record, i never exactly liked you before, but this makes me want to jab my eyes out.   change, or i’ll change it for you and there’s no guarantee you’ll like what you see. ❜

“Or, you could jab your eyes out, and I could watch.” His tone dripped sarcasm, but all the same, he spun around with a chuckle. “Either way, I’d get my amusement for the night.” Or so he thought at least. Still, the idea of having to change was something he hated – even though he would do it… just to not hear about it again. “Among other things… I have found that no matter what I do i’ll always be lacking something.”

Not that it mattered though – a few moments later and he was back, but this time he was wearing his usual worn leather jacket with his black shirt as well as jeans. “So, is this better or do you really hate everything about me?”

“You could have told me from the beginning. Why didn’t you?”

“I didn’t expect to stick around this long.” There was more to it of course, most of the time he made sure to sabotage his own relationships, and get out of them before they got serious. Well, serious enough to actually admit what he truly was, and what he was actually capable of. “That is why I kept it out of sight and out of mind.” Even if it was the last thing he wanted. Especially then.

He stayed quiet for a time, letting Ky plead his case. There was a considerable amount of ground to cover, but it was cleared with speed and a terrible kind of determination. But, despite his quickness to steer past this subject, Thor couldn’t deny that his facts were sound. humans perished in large numbers on a daily basis, claimed by old age, illness, famine or some such vector that brought with it death. Those he spared from the man’s wrath would expire in other ways, weeks, months or even years from now.

Such was part and parcel of the human kit; to be born, to live and then to die.

“To hear you speak of them as though they were cattle.” The blond shook his head, resigning himself to the increasingly likely possibility that this discussion was pointless. “It inspires only concern, friend.” It had started with good intentions and a purpose, but the more he stood and listened, donated both time and attention to the mortal of mixed breeding that styled himself as more as a demon rather than a man.

And to think that all this had arisen due to confining circumstances. It seemed alarming, until it was used as the reason behind the other’s frenetic tendencies. Were he to liberate the fiend, renew again his attempts to dissuade him from taking lives, he felt they’d arrive at a more pleasing outcome than the one they find themselves forced upon them at present.

“You may be stuck, but I am not. And I think it best, since you neither desire my help nor ask for it, that I take my leave. Fare you well, Ky’lar. And may you emerge as someone better than those that came before you.”

“At least cattle have a use – the one’s i kill don’t.” Maybe Ky could have focused his efforts on training. That way, he could actually get better at fine tuning his abilities.

The only problem was he despised the very notion. He didn’t want to go back Home – the safest place for that – and he didn’t feel it was necessary. Of course, if he looked past his ego… he’d know that maybe then he’d have at least an once more of control than he had currently.

“It’s either here or my Grandfather’s realm,” he said, sucking in a deep breath, and letting it out slowly. “Going back there won’t help matters – they let me win.” At least that was what Ky thought, but truth be told… he didn’t actually look too much into it. Nor did he want to willingly go back there. Not now and not anytime soon if he was being completely honest with himself.

“I’ve only been to a few,” he paused for a moment, trying to come up with the right phrase of words. “realms as you would call them.” there was so much more that could have been said, but instead, he sighed. “I can’t stay here and i can’t go back there.” He was stuck between a rock and a hard place… one he didn’t think he’d ever get out of.

“I’m far more than simply stuck… i’m trapped.” It was Ky’s own way of not just saying he wanted away from everything, but also some sort of help… even if he wouldn’t ever truly admit it.

“Well, well, well,” Natasha sighed as she looked over at Ky. Like clock work he had fallen straight into the Avengers’ hands. He should have known better than telling his entire plan to one of them. She sat down in a chair across from him, looking through the bluish force field into his cell. “Looks like you bit off a bit more than you could chew.” She tilted her head. “Why don’t you tell me what happened.”

If he was being honest with himself, he had everything completely under control, and things had been going splendidly. all ky needed was several more moments and he could have had everything wrapped up. the only problem was it didn’t turn out as planned; over powered and thrown in this cell was honestly the least they could have done.

still, he had a few idea’s on what to do next time, but first? he had to get out of here. then he’d actually have to get someone to back him up… or at least someone who could be relied upon to do their job. “to be quite fair? you can see what happened for yourself.”

“ …… well –” she pauses briefly, gaze flickering down towards his hand for a moment before she continues. “i dunno, it was – some of it was in latin, so i couldn’t read it. looked like notes though. and something about an, uh – an exorcism ….”

he remembered it a little less than he should have; the details always shifted depending on his mood, but the one thing that always seemed to be clear was his hatred. if ky had the chance, he’d make sure that it never happened – that he fixed his mistake, but no matter. he already had want he wanted – the house – now, all he had to do was get rid of liv before she became too bothersome. “you should get it translated – or have me look at it,” he said lowly. “it may have been something i’ve forgotten about.”

“it’s not just his fault, you know. you do have a bit of a temper issue.” sometimes she still had nightmares about him cornering her or shoving her against different walls in his fits of rage. it was never a pleasant experience.

“you can try, though.” small fingers picked at stray threads on her sleeves, her gaze lowering in the process. “i know the whole demon genetics thing doesn’t exactly make it easy, but you can try. being dragged back doesn’t stop the ability to do so. as for him—” a grimace stretched her lips momentarily. “…i can’t really disagree there. i’d say he needs to find some chill, but– being who he is, i don’t think that’s really possible.”

“and you can try to keep your tongue in check and respect your be-” he cut himself off as he realized his hands were already turning into fists. more importantly, his voice took on a dark tone for a few moments. old habits died hard – especially for one such as him.

a reason to why he sucked in a deep breath and then let it out slowly. after that, he took a few steps back as he moved to wrap his arms around his chest. “I’m… i’m sorry.” it wouldn’t change things, but he did try to distance himself from her – even if it wouldn’t do anything in all reality. “what i meant was… being dragged back does change things. i take one step forward and i get dragged sixty steps back.”
