He felt unsure as to whether he should feel grateful for that remark. True, he had let his desire to fight fill his days when he had little to lose and hardly any goals to work towards bar his lone, and still unfulfilled wish.Had he stayed the same way he didn’t think many would be as receptive to the reclamation of his mantle and titles. Sure, he knew he’d disappoint those that preferred the old him but, like time itself, nothing stayed the same forever.
“You aren’t wrong, but I must still insist that you abandon this scheme of yours.” If it even was such to begin with. All he saw was a transformed demon itching for a fight he couldn’t accept; that he couldn’t enjoy now that the gap had once again broadened between them. Thor had ascended into the upper echelons of godhood from whence he had been previously expelled. And with that came a vastly different thunderer to the one demon Ky had formally been acquainted with.
“I have work that I need to attend to, so farewell, Ky’lar.”
His clawed hands twitched for a few moments as he moved forward. What he wanted was a fight – a real battle that he could prove himself. It was the usual when Thor was unworthy, but back then it was for spite. He hated the God. More importantly, he hated everything they stood for; unworthy or otherwise. Thor may have been worth-while, but the demon hated as well as respected them. “Don’t care,” Ky said bluntly. “They can wait.” Rather, he thought they could. He was still getting used to this… worthy Thor. Still getting used to seeing him like this – it just felt wrong. Very wrong. “I can’t.”
He was about to shoot back a very rude comment about his place was above all others, but this wasn’t the time for it. Nor was it the place; he had taken a slight overstep. One, that he could come back from, but he needed to make sure his words were precise, and well warranted, ❝ My mistake, ❞ A lie – he didn’t care what Thor thought of him, but the half-breed did lower his head… if only slightly. ❝ I was simply exchanging the facts. ❞ Once that was said, a twisted grin spread over his lips. ❝ Unless, you’re willing to be blind to them – It’s the fate of all things to die. Even Heroes. ❞
Nostrils flare and Peter keeps his eyes on the other, hands still on his hips. “Why didn’t you just leave me?” It’s something that’s been bothering him. He knows what the other man said, that he needed his help but it’s also quite peculiar. Even with the mask gone he still had no real idea who he was. He rolls his eyes at the pun, shoulders dropping and he leans back just a little, is far more relaxed at the moment. There’s still too much sensory input and it’s hard for him to focus, to not get distracted by the light seeping in through the window despite the curtain.
“I wouldn’t have died if you left me, and I don’t believe that you’re going to try and kill me.” Large brown eyes stare back at Ky, “You haven’t even told me what it is that you’re wanting me to get or why.”
“I wouldn’t put your hopes too high in that regard.” That much was clear as Ky took a step forward. “You see, I might not want you dead for the moment, but that can change.” More importantly, if Ky didn’t get his way, he would be forced to dispose of the other. However, for the time being, he was giving Peter the benefit of the doubt. though, for how long that would last… was uncertain. Even to him.
“—All you need to know is that it’s a game changer for me.” It wasn’t the truth or a lie, but it would change things. At least, Ky thought it would. “And that it’s the first of several tasks i’ll have for… someone like you.” Not to say that he couldn’t have obtained what he wanted himself as it was quite obvious he could have, but he was hoping he could somehow get Peter to do this for him. Even if he had to resort to a few…dislikable actions.
Mary didn’t back away when he moved closer. She’d stood toe to toe with powerful, frightening creatures, and she wasn’t going to be intimidated by his posturing. She’d come prepared and done of course done research on Kylar. “Well, they call you a prince of hell.” A pause, she raised her brows, watching before divulging further. “I’m guessing it would have started slow, like it did with my son. He was a knight o hell.” Her voice was cool and even despite the sting the thought of Dean’s pain brought. “Probably had some anger issues, got in a lot fights. Killed someone. Maybe had a couple times where you slaughtered a lot of people that you didn’t really mean to.” Was she getting warm? Hell, she hoped so. “By then it was something you couldn’t even control. It took over you…like a disease. But you didn’t care. You liked it.”
She was far more than simply warm about what had happened, but it wasn’t entirely the same. The anger, the hate – it was always there. Had been for as long as he remembered. He fought against it, even made sure to run from it, but be it as it may… destiny came either way. That was something no one could deny. Not even him. “You’re on the like warm side of things,” he said, “You think of it in a way that’s black and white, don’t you? Anytime in that… slow progression, I could have changed my ways, or maybe someone could have helped – life isn’t that simple. It’s not black and white… and not a disease.”
“Not to be that person, but I’ve never met royalty from… well, hell. Do you have a crown? A throne?”
“Do you always have to ask the most idiotic questions?” A grunt as he ran a hand over his chin. “I have a birthright – not to mention several thousand who want my head on a pike. Thats not even including my own family – hells… complicated. The royalty even more so.”
“Isn’t it?” A slow step taken forward INTENTIONALLY, closing the space between them. “All you have to do is ask.”
“Then consider me…. asking then?” He mused out lowly. “It’s always nice to see someone so willing.”
“I guess you’re right. I wasn’t thinking of the … ‘less innocent’ ways to shut someone up. INTERESTING to see where your mind is at, Kylar.” wink.
“I’d say on your KNEES, but I don’t think that’s necessary.” Was his mind in the gutter? Yes, yes it was. “However, i’m sure you could… change my mind.”
“There’s only really one way to shut me up ya know…”.
“Is there now? See, there are several ways to shut someone up. Especially someone like you.”
