. roman realizes too late the unqualified statement gives ky’lar free rein to order him to a vast array of tasks, limited only by his own creativity. he doesn’t want to trust that that creativity will be short-lived. he swallows thickly, fear spiking through his thoughts and leaving a lingering feeling of shame. never in his life did he think he’d be at a demon’s beck and call, yet here he is. but if it helps wes, it’s WORTH it.
there’s still a spark of fury in his eyes as they raise to meet ky’lar’s gaze, jaw tense with the effort to hold back the biting remarks on his tongue. he can’t hold them all back, however. ❝ that’s what decent people do. ❞ there’s the implication there, that roman’s decent and ky’lar’s not, but that’s not news to EITHER of them.
❝ maybe if you had a brother like wes you’d understand. ❞ his voice is strangely soft, not as angry as he expects it to be, almost as though he’s begging ky’lar for some kind of mercy or empathy ( neither of which he should expect to get. )
❝ maybe if i was human i’d understand, ❞ he shot back – sarcasm lacing every single letter of his tone. oh, he could on for days about what he never understood, but this wasn’t the time nor place for it. let alone with roman. ❝ people are willing to sell their souls for trinkets such as a house – a credit card and even a good marriage. ❞ he smirked. ❝ you did this for family – a brother and you want to know the truth, roman? ❞
ky placed his hand on the other’s shoulder. ❝ i don’t care about you. nor what you’ve done to help your brother. ❞ there was a slight amount of hesitation for a moment, but then he continued on anyways. ❝ families are shit – the sooner you learn you don’t need them? the sooner you forget about them and realize you don’t need them. ❞
“caring about anything – or anyone is a liability,” he said, arms sliding calmly behind his back. “i limit them by caring about one person. myself.” granted, it wasn’t the best thing to say, but it was truth in his case at least.
“if you WON’T, then maybe i WILL,” the words were harsher than intended, but there was a REASON behind them all the same. “’cause, the way i see it? you’re one. no one else’s.” at least if he had a say in it.
A LOW AND MIRTHLESS laugh falls from bitter tongue . “ you’re a real piece of work ky , you know that . ” cobalt hues dance with a fierce passion , looking up at the other . “ unlike you , i don’t take the coward’s way out . unlike you , i have a sense of morality and duty . unlike you , i have a conscious . ” words flow from ross’ lips without his permission . but he’s on a roll know . “ you don’t think i don’t know that ? thano’s reach extended far beyond the planet and system . but correct me if i’m wrong , this became the epicenter when thanos took the first of his final stands here . we held the most infinity stones . we became the roadblock or the problem in thano’s way . so yeah , for right now , this does revolve around earth and her people . ”
“FAIRLY PUT,” he said. “however, i remain unconvinced.” ross’ words rang true, but ky… as much as he tried wouldn’t see it that way. thanos may have ended half of all life. could have even ended everything, but he chose to leave some alive. maybe, if things were different, ky could have attempted to see it his way, but it didn’t look like it. not anytime soon in-fact either. “you have your morality an’ duty. i DON’T have any of that – i go home now an’ maybe i won’t get SKINNED alive.” a pause. “i do mean skinned – not the metaphorical version either.” in truth, he could have said much more, but instead, he moved to poke a finger right into ross’s chest – something he knew he’d regret, but done all the same. “this isn’t my war… it’s humanities very own.”
Long ago, I was wounded. I lived
to revenge myself
against my father, not
for what he was—
for what I was: from the beginning of time,
in childhood, I thought
that pain meant
I was not loved.
It meant I loved.
WELL, THAT CERTAINLY answered her question. the widow sighed and muttered under her breath; “your funeral” before she was leaping into the air, hoping to subdue the guy for questioning. there were a lot of people who wanted to talk to him.
“ IT WOULDN’T BE THE FIRST.” nor would it be the last honestly. officially, ky was dead ( or he hoped that was what his records said at times ), but still, it took much more than a few QUICK moves to take him down ( or so he hoped at least ). still, it wasn’t like he could put up a major fight ( at least this time around ) as he even slid his arms behind his back – just for show. “nor will it be the last. either way? i’m a prince – don’t i have some sort of diplomatic immunity or somethin’?”
“ right — family issues, i get that,” who doesn’t? ask any mortal being and the feeling is sure to live and breathe through each creature. raven was no stranger to such a strong emotion. however, the subject does not change – his motives are still unclear and too vague. she may have to dig a bit deeper, “ my place isn’t a hotel, sorry to inform you, ky. ”
“if it was a hotel room, i’d keep the place closer to freezing, an’ i wouldn’t have any clothes on.” the only reason he had anything on was due to common curtsy! well, that, and he always enjoyed the feel of leather for some reason. “either way? i’ll be out of your hair soon enough. i just need to find one of my spare key’s.” a key, to one of his storage containers, and maybe then he could try to figure out just how much time had past since he’d last been on earth.
oh, so he wants to stay. and she thought that daimon could be annoying. her demeanor changes, body shifts from it’s previous position into something seemingly more relaxed.
❛ you want to see tough luck, lo-ver ? ❜ a curve returns into her lips, mockery on her tongue. if he insists on being a pest, she has little to no problem putting her heel onto his head and pressing in until it’s over. granted, with such an action there might come awful consequences and she needs to stop to think whether she feels like dealing with any of it. ❛ why don’t we go somewhere a little less public and i’ll gladly show you what tough luck looks like. ❜
❛ actually, i was thinking of spending a bit more time ‘round here. these people might not be the best amusement, but they are far more… breakable. ❜ not to mention with enough of a show he could have his fill of amusement for the day, but why stop there?
❛ sadly enough, ❜ he continued on, ❛ you’re not exactly my type. ❜ it was his own way of saying he wasn’t going anywhere less public. that way, he wouldn’t get into something he couldn’t exactly get out of – at least not entirely. ❛ maybe next time. ❜
