That opinion was debatable. How many people would consider this action foolish? This sudden despair that had taken over him due to LOSING someone who meant such a great deal to him? No one would understand. Perhaps Thor would since he experienced similar with Loki. How was someone supposed to deal with the loss of someone important – not once but twice? It was enough to many anyone lose their minds. It was a pain that few would ever manage to endure – and Steve was not one of those people. Seeing Bucky fall from that train all those decades ago had already been devastating., let alone watching him turn to dust before his very eyes. It was more than anyone could endure. It was more than HE could endure.
So what if his despair made him be selfish? Just this one time – he could be selfish. This… ONE time.
Others would scream at him and call him stupid. They would argue that they could have found another way to bring Bucky and the others back. There was always a way – and no one would give up until they found it. But that was then and this was now. Without Bucky, Steve knew he wouldn’t be able to keep moving forward and if that meant making a deal with the devil? Then so be it. Even if the price to pay would be Bucky getting his memory wiped or even his own memory wiped… at least he would know he was ok. Whatever the price the demon would request for his services, Steve knew he would pay. For it was worth anything – and he was a man of his word.
“Just… do it. Please.”
When Ky had been asked before to make deals, there was always a pure selfish reason involved. From crawling out of debt, to even keeping a family member alive – everything came with some sort of price tag attached. Sometimes, people didn’t want to pay up, and that was what lead to complications.
Ky didn’t care if people paid, but his family did, and it was why he avoided deals. Well, avoided them unless he absolutely had to make them. Oddly enough, he was great at making deals, but very bad at collecting them the normal way.
He didn’t want anything more than ( usually ) one simple favor – one that could be used at any-time for anything. That way, when the time came, he could do what was needed, and claim his rightful place. Even if Ky knew it might not ever happen… he was still willing to put everything on the line to at least try.
“By the end of the hour,” he said bluntly. “Bucky will be back – All he’ll remember is waking up, and now nothing about his former final moments.” It could have been done sooner, but an hour was easier. It gave him time to do what was needed and hide it for at least a few weeks. That way no one would find out ( right away that is ) what he’d done.
oliver was swallowing hard as eyes met the other’s he knew that the man in front of him could bring hell on earth, he could see it in his eyes , thoughts pushed to the corner of his mind as he is carrying on to say “ if I take it what are the consequences?”.
“think about it this way; if i get this city willingly? it will be under my protection. the crime rate will go down, laws will be enforced, and i get…. one third of all souls here.” he could have said half, but he was being reasonable. “you accept my offer and the city – for as long as i’m here – will be completely safe, but if you deny this little… request of mine?” a dark grin pulled at his lips. “i’ll make sure that everyone – including yourself – suffers with the consequences. ‘cause, this place? it will be mine. the only question is… do you want it to be hell on earth or do you want something a bit nicer?”
“Aww now you’re just making me feel special, how sweet of you to single me out.” She crosses her arms in-front of her chest and lets out a small huff. “More like you are going to have to deal with me, mr.look at me i’m dark and scary.”
“yeah, bright colors don’t suit me that well, an’ i deal with enough red back home.” there was a shrug. “suits work, but after wearing them for years a nice leather jacket an’ pants are just so much easier to work with.” he took a step closer towards her. “so, how do you want me to deal with you? i have a few… idea’s on my mind already.”
“to be quite fair? if people would stay out of my way – specifically you -, i do believe there wouldn’t be trouble, but here we are.” he gave a shrug. “i guess you could say… you need to deal with it.”
“——you fancy-ass demons all think you’re hot shit. meanwhile, people like me…” he grunted. “why are you even here?”
“no! by all means, do continue on!” his arms crossed his chest with a smirk. “i’d love to hear just everything you have to say about my kind!” the why he was here could come later. for now, ky was going to have some slight amusement, and re-pay it in kind when he got the chance.
“I DO believe you miss my point, stranger. One might need to learn the rules to survive – but one might also need to understand that sometimes, those ‘sacrifices’ are the ignoring rules themselves. After all, such things were made to be broken.”
“there is NOTHING to break if you don’t care to follow the rules to begin with.” maybe he shouldn’t have brought up the point, but at the same time? he really didn’t care. “even better if you don’t KNOW them.” a pause. “all the same? the names ky’lar.”
was he supposed to? quite possibly, but the problem was that ky didn’t see it that way. so what if he’d made a few mistakes? so what if he lacked the ability to see things in her own way – it wasn’t needed. so why should he even try? “you’re right,” he said, bluntly. “i don’t – it’s not necessary.”
“It most certainly is your problem. Because if I’m not dealing with it, then you are. My hands are dirty enough as it is.”
“your hands may be dirty, but it’s not my problem,” he said, arms crossing his chest, “so, leave it for someone else – not me.”
