He knew that it was foolish to underestimate Ky’lar, and almost definitely a death sentence. He narrowly escaped once before and that, he would admit, was because the demon hybrid let him go. He assumed that Ky’lar was one that liked to ‘’play with his food’’ so to speak and Ethan was aware that those mindsets were possibly one of the dangerous people in existence. Not so humorously, the demon prince reminded him of another – someone more close to Ethan than he would like to admit.
He was amused, but he also wanted to keep their arrangement going for now, which meant respecting the other’s threat. Not that Ethan was afraid of what he was promising; death didn’t scare him, being forgotten did. Arms crossing, the vampire tilts his head slightly and grins, allowing his amusement to show. “Oh, yes, I have heard of your…effective methods. And while I will steadfastly inform you that I hold no fear towards your capabilities – I have lived for two and a half centuries and fought in hundreds of wars with just as intimidating – the moniker will not roll off my tongue again.” For the time being, anyway.
“Though, I must stress again that it was not intended to be an insult. Many give those they admire a little pet name – it means I like you. Heaven knows why, given our first encounter.” He could still feel the splintered hole the state left in his chest after it was yanked from him, despite the wound now healed as if nothing had occurred at all.
Understanding people; it didn’t matter the species or race… wasn’t easy. It wasn’t that Ky cared – in some level he did -, but for the most part… he just didn’t see why it was needed. Obeying was the only thing he wanted. Obeying and saying ‘yes’ was the only thing he wanted when his moods turned sour. A reason to why he usually sought out people who would grant him his requests. Humans were so much easier for this; they dipped their head and did exactly as he requested. Throw a little money at them, a deal, and maybe even some affection to boot. Maybe that was why he enjoyed it on earth so much -besides being born there – is that he was able to control them so easily. Whatever the case, he didn’t think it was necessary to explain his choices now. Vampires always dug under his skin and the why -even for him- was always a bit uncertain. Flashes of memory from anther life were just below the surface of his thoughts. They faded just as quickly as they began to surface. No, he wasn’t going to let those thoughts control him… at least not now. “Well, I don’t like you.” It wasn’t exactly the truth, but not so much a lie either. Ky assumed if he got to know Ethan a but better, maybe he’d be able to stand him, but getting to that point was the difficult part. “So, keep those names to yourself.”
“you aren’t quite invincible, so i’m pretty sure i would still be freaking out a little bit.” jessica couldn’t imagine what would happen to her if something happened to him. her feelings ran deep and she really didn’t care how messed up it was considering where they had started. and if it was because of his own stupid doing because he couldn’t sit still without kicking the shit out of someone? well, that would be worse.
shaking her head, she was tempted to make a comment about him not wanting her there to cheer him on – but jess knew watching him get beat up would only wind up with her deciding that she needed to put a stop to it which wasn’t good for anyone. pursing her lips, she looked up at him. “does something besides joining fight club bring you any sort of happiness? cause really – taking me to a steakhouse is quite the opposite.”
“do you really want my answer to that?” his tone came off slightly more rude than intended, but ky wasn’t in the mood to correct himself. more so when he didn’t believe (at the moment at least) it was absolutely needed or even necessary.
“if i want to… join a highly illegal fight club? i’ll do it – just be glad it’s on earth and not somewhere else.” If it was in hell, ky knew right away that the wounds he’d suffer would be far more… painful, but earth was good enough for him. he liked it better here anyways in all reality. “so, you can stay or come with me. either way? it’s your choice.”
arm protectively wrapped over her stomach as though she hadn’t just found out that she was pregnant, jessica remained quiet for a long while. at least he seemed a little bit open to the idea of keeping the baby safe. she was left with a lot of questions but didn’t know what was important to ask or what would even have an answer. “but maybe they’ll be able to control themselves. we can’t worry about everything that could happen before they are even fully developed.” he knew enough about himself and his own story to worry and she knew that, but she also knew that this baby would have a better support system than he had.
“i’m sorry this happened… but we’ll figure it out, okay?” she wondered how the whole demon thing was going to affect the pregnancy, but she guessed they had time for that conversation. right now, she really wanted to relax and eat some of her feelings away. “we have time.”
“i know what i was capable of.” at least, when he finally managed to tap into what he could do. it was, at first, amusing, but it slowly turned terrifying to most. ky didn’t care – once he did, but that was only at the beginning. he looked for ways to end it all – to no avail of course.
sometimes, he wished that things could have been different; that he knew then what he knew now. it would have been so simple to change the outcomes of somethings, but that was no longer possible. he made his choices and now… he had to live with them. “If our child is even… a silver like me… it won’t be pretty. it never is.”
“WELL AREN’T YOU MELODRAMATIC.” a scoff. what i’m saying is that you’re not going to murder me if i’m in your company, or beat me up and kidnap me.” a hand gestures vaguely to the air.
“I WON’T DO ANYTHING FATAL,” he said bluntly. “it’s also NOT kidnapping if you go willingly, is it?” a grin spread across his lips. “in other words? RELAX.”
“I once heard the saying ‘with great power comes great responsibility’,” he said, even changing his tone of voice to fit the act. “However, I consider it horse shit. With great power comes… greater power.”

once, he may have been happy to revel in the blood on his hands, but he wasn’t in that sort of mood. nor did he think he ever would be again. his depressive state had lasted far more than a few hours – it had turned into the last three weeks. now, he was just hitting rock bottom. a new low and he wasn’t in the mood for this or anything at the moment.
“what do you want?” a simple question, but one as he’d hit the bottom of his sixth bottle of whiskey. “it better be important.”
i feel awful (again) so i’ll be lurking somewhere.
THERE WAS AN INCH OF DOUBT, just the smallest twitch in his voice. just enough to tell her that she was right, and that he knew it. ‘ the world will keep spinning, YES, but a lot will die. and the first to go will be the ones who threaten the new king, people who might overthrow the order. people like YOU. ’ pride and ambition seemed to rob people of their perspective, their logic. she could only hope his instinct to survive was stronger than his ego.
SHE HAD A POINT. one, that even ky couldn’t put aside as simply words. people would die, yes that was a given, but he didn’t see himself as a THREAT. no, not directly. given the OPPORTUNITY, he could be. a claim was all he needed and with backing? it would be EASY to take what was rightfully his (or so he hoped at least). however, getting there was going to be the hard part, DEMONS he could handle, but angels? that was another situation completely. one, he wanted to avoid if at all possible. ‘only if they can get to me, but fine – you have my ATTENTION.’ for now.
All asking ever did was cause more problems. It was how he got into this mess wasn’t it?By asking questions and getting no answers, Now, he ended up-having more blood than he ever wanted on his hands.
There was no coming back from that. Not now, not ever. What was done was done. Ky just had to live through the storm that came after the fact. A storm he never wanted any part in, but had to learn to master all the same.
“All questions and answers have ever given me is pain. I don-. No, I refuse to go down that road again.”
