“Huh. Well, ‘cause you wanna hear me gloat for over an hour obviously?” he offered, an amused smirk spreading to his lips. “Oh come on, how does that work?”

“The better question is ‘how does anything work these days?’” A slight chuckle escaped his lips, “Gloat for an hour if you wish. I’m all ears….. just let me get a drink first.”

“That…sounds like you’ve been in prison more than once.” he admitted, a sort of half laugh leaving his lips. “Dude, foods stupid expensive. I just try and slip it in my jacket whenever I go to the store.” he shrugged, pulling a face.

“A few times.” Though, in truth, it was all his fault, but he did get out in the end by throwing money in the right directions, “Honestly, though? Food should be cheep. At least something… then again? I’ve always been one to buy whatever and deal with the price tag at a later date.”

“We’ve got some pretty good rum that should do the trick. Kicks my ass every time I drink it.” he offered with a faint grin, reaching for a glass already. “You had a rough day or somethin’?” Most people who drank there did.

❝ Rough few years is more like it. ❞ It was always the same : get so far, then managed to get thrown almost back to the beginning —- maybe that was a reason he should have stopped while he was ahead, but as per-usual, listing to advice was always one of his downfalls,

❝ More or less… some good spots, but it always turns back to the same disappointment. ❞

avalanchiing:

“really?” he raised an eyebrow, a little doubtful. to him, money really was everything. it was the only drive he had at that point in his life. it wasn’t exactly like he had much else going on. and he didn’t exactly have money anyway. “well….that don’t sound you were arrested then.” he shrugged, pulling a slight face. “not that it’s a bad thing or somethin’.”

“to be fair, any free food is good to me.” he joked, grinning. but maybe that was because he was pretty much hungry all the time.

“Being arrested isn’t all bad —- you get food, usually a few meals a day, and sometimes a room all your own.” Not that Ky’lar cared in all reality about what other’s went through, but he had been in enough cells to know that they were not all the same, and that time in prison or jail was relative to the person who was there.

“Though, I have to agree, but food can be so expensive these days, and most things are not even eatable.”

“Really?” Lance deadpanned, an eyebrow raising at the other man. “’cause you could save us both some time here if you just admit that I’m right.”

“ Now, you see, I could, but why would I admit your right? ” More to the point, he didn’t see why it was useful to admit the obvious, “You might be right, but i’m not wrong. ”

“more than currency?” the teenagers head cocked to the side, a mild interest in his eyes. money was all that fueled lance – after all, it was the thing that kept him alive. he wasn’t exactly the most skilled at stealing food.

“nah, only juvie and big city jail’s for the night. not great food in either.” a wry smile manged to make it’s way to lance’s lips, mildly amused by the information. “Really? Well, that’s good to know.”

❝ money can get you far, but eventually, the appeal of it wears off to the point that having it means nothing. ❞  then again, he could afford five star hotel’s rooms with the room below ten celsius, but that was ultimately besides the point,

❝—- i once spent a month in a cell in a small town due to the fact there was flooding and the bridge collapsed.  ❞

it wasn’t his best series of events  nor was it his worst, but it still was a complicated matter as he let out a grunt,

❝ —— for most cases, but then again, most food isn’t great — at least in most places.   ❞
