if he was being perfectly honest, he never spent this much time around anyone – not even his own family when they were alive. of course, back then, things were different and he was more focused on avoiding his family. things hadn’t changed that much over the years, but he also didn’t know that much about humans -or himself- really. “i see.” it wasn’t like he could say much else; he never experienced anything like a cramp before. so… while he was mildly curious, he wasn’t going to let that curiosity get the best of him. at least for the moment.
“you should know by now that you don’t have to hide the truth from me.” the blonde hadn’t deciphered a tell for him, really had no way of knowing when he was lying. though she hoped that meant he didn’t lie to her that much, it could easily mean that he lied a lot.
“well it’s obvious to me you’re not on good terms with your past either so i was going to let you do it on your own time.” she shrugged her shoulders. she wasn’t sure what he was going to take her to see, so she was interested to find out. “where are we going?”
there where was simple; it was once burnt down, but he’d been planning on rebuilding it. not in the way it was years ago, but in a design more akin to his own liking. he had many storage buildings for what he enjoyed, but a real home – not just a hotel – was something that he needed… even if the half-demon would never admit it.
“my family home.” or what was left of it at least. not that ky would admit that it was a major step forward for them. he never told anyone about his life before… well his current situation (aside from the people who knew). so for him… this was either going to be the best decision he’d ever make or… the worst.
he invited her due to the fact she was important to him. having an audience was going to happen one way or another; demons were always watching. they talked worse than teenagers and never kept information to themselves – not unless they were ordered to- even then? it was iffy.
“If things go right,” as he sure hoped they would, “i’ll be able to take my rightful place where I belong.” if things went wrong? well, he wasn’t going to think about that. he assumed jess would beg for his life – he’d do the same -, but hoped it wouldn’t come to that. ky didn’t want sam dead… he just wanted the throne.
“i want hell.” the words didn’t even sit right on his tongue. hell was a large and vast. he needed to be a bit more specific and yet he couldn’t. not yet anyways. “what i did – what i’ve always done- has been to obtain my birthright, jess. if you have a problem with that… maybe you should go back to your nice human life and stay out of mine.”
“no! please… just a leather jacket, a white shirt, and some dark jeans. and let me play with your hair a little… and then we can go out to the bar and get drunk using someone else’s card.” the blonde stops fiddling with her costume, determined to get him to agree. jutting out her lip a little, she turned to him. “pleeaasse i’m cute and you like it when i’m happy.”
“i also like avoiding holidays completely.” he hated the very notion of them and halloween was the worst. even more so for him as he ran his hands through his hair. “if it’s all the same to you? i’ll take a very hard pass.”
his entire body was covered in bruises; an angel blade sliced deep into his back and had been lodged there until jess pulled it out. it stung worse now than it did before it was removed. he’d heal, but it would take days… days he didn’t truly have. “i’ll be fine,” he said, downing a bottle of whiskey. “don’t worry about me.”
rude was not being allowed to drink beer all day. rude was being forced to stay inside as the weather was too bad. rude was being hunted by some idiot who thought they killed their wife.
this wasn’t rude, ky just was in a playful mood -in his true form of course – and didn’t think he had to stop what he was doing.
“you like it,” he mused out lowly, “you really do.”
it actually took him a while to realize just who she was talking about. the names were… known to him, but not really. so, it took him a few minutes for the gears in his tattered mind to start working properly. “they’re demons,” he said, not even glancing up at her. “elder demons. what do you expect me to do about it?”
snuggling up to ky’s side, she pet the hell puppy that lay between them with a wide grin on her face.
❝ should we give him a name like blade or bones? are we going to be able to teach him to attack on command? – do hell pups only eat … people? ❞
it was a valid concern after-all, what he brought jess wasn’t a simple dog, but something far worse. not that he minded – he thought jess could handle something like this and he doubted anyone down below would miss the runt of the litter, right? he thought as much at least. “your choice,” he mused lowly. “’course, people isn’t all they eat – they are just trained that way. i’m sure they can eat something else.” of course, he wasn’t too sure what they ate at all in all reality. “if all else… i’ll find out.”
