after an argument like that, or at least the start of one, the last thing most people would do would be to automatically try to open up more. but she had learned long ago to stop comparing what ky did to what she had learned to be normal behavior. “—— n-no. hey, i would love for you to show me. you don’t ever talk about it.”

she had a feeling that was because it was too hard. despite how scared she had been moments before, she has settled back into what had become her norm. she trusted him not to truly hurt her and noted that she should work on how she expressed her frustrations. “i appreciate it. that you want to open up more to me.”

he didn’t ever talk about it due to the fact it was not just painful, but more importantly, it wasn’t needed. ky may have been close to human once, but he made sure to burn every single bridge down from that time period. it wasn’t exactly that he didn’t want to remember – no, it was more than that. it was that ky didn’t think it was important enough to remember.

though, the real reasons had faded from his mind long ago, he only knew a small portion of what he went through back then. truth be told, he also didn’t care, but the least he could do was attempt to explain somethings – even if it was only so she’d understand him a bit more. “what is there to talk about?” he asked, sucking in a deep breath and letting it out slowly. “more importantly… you never asked.”

“of course. without dad steering them with his ‘gentle’ hand on the back of their necks, my siblings are ten times more destructive than a hoard of demons fresh out of hell.” she wipes off the blade and holds it out toward him. “don’t be afraid to use it, but remember that i’m the one that gave it to you.”

“at least hordes of demons,” he said, taking the blade with his right hand, and gripping it tightly. “usually have some sort of leader. they may be destructive, but once they find a demon with power? they flock to it like ants to a crumb on a hot summer’s day.”
he then flashed a grin. “among other things, i don’t have any problems with you – it’s the rest of them that strike me as idiotic.” ky never liked heaven – he may have stayed in churches for a few years, but he never believed in it. then again… he didn’t think it mattered. not anymore at least. “maybe a bit rabid as well.”

“you can’t keep THREATENING me every god damn time you want to get your way! i never ASKED you to protect me, YOU decided to.” the blonde places her hand over her still flat stomach protectively, her hands nearly shaking from the anger she was feeling. she hated that he had that to hold over her head. times like this she wondered how she had ever developed feelings for him in the first place. “this baby is NOT a thing. it’s just a child – one that is half me and half you. it doesn’t deserve to DIE before it has a chance to LIVE!”

his hands formed into tight fists; he wanted to explain his side, but instead, he ended up just slamming his fist into a wall – nearly going through it due to the action. oh, he was pissed off – far more than usual as he yanked his hand back with a grunt. he had a feeling his own father had went through this conversation before – look how that turned out. the best thing for ky ( or so he thought ) was to simply leave. maybe then he could sort his head out, but he doubted it. “if you knew anything about me,” he said, eyes narrowing on her. “you’d know why i’m against this… decision of yours.” he didn’t want this – he didn’t want anything of the sort. yet, here he was, and now he’d have to deal with the consequences of those actions. “you’d know why,” he repeated, taking in a deep breath, and letting it out slowly, “i’ve stayed alone for so many years and why i disapprove of your choice.”

it takes her a few minutes, but she manages to fight off one of her siblings with her vessel only sustaining a few mild lacerations. it had been through much worse. she dusts herself off though her hands and clothes remain clean. an entirely human behavior that had rubbed off on her. ❝ sorry about that… you were saying? – need an angel blade, perchance?   ❞

“only since they will no longer have use of one.” he would have taken it anyways, but the offer – for what it was – happened to cause him to grin. it lasted for a moment… maybe two before it faded. “not that it matters anyways – angel blades are quite… handy to have these days.”

“i think this should be fine. i mean… i’m not looking to impress anyone. —— then we can go sooner for me to get my nice steak and you can be back here without a shirt on, just how you like it.”

“well, i like many other things as well,” they mused out lowly. “when we’re done, i’ll be sure to take off my shirt once we leave the place – just for you.”

“you WILL not harm this baby. i WON’T let you!” the blonde tried to think of ways that she might be able to escape long enough to keep herself and the baby safe. it may require teaming up with someone that she would rather not face.  “ and i KNOW you’re better than that – at least when it comes to ME. even if you don’t want to admit it.”

“i really think you’re FORGETTING who you’re talking to,” he said, taking a step forward. “i could have thrown you to so many DEMONS during our time together, but no. i protected you – i SAVED you and all i ask is you get RID or DISPOSE of that that..” his nose scrunched up in disgust. “thing.” oh, he knew she wouldn’t go for it – why would she? after-all, humans did enjoy caring other humans. it was just plain logic, but to ky… that child could RUIN all his plans. even if in reality… it WOULDN’T harm anything at all.

hurting him had never been her direct intent, but she supposed anyone could argue that heated arguments got that way because of an underlying wish to lash out at the other. retribuation for how they felt. after he let her go, a few backhanded smartass comments come to her mind, but she is not about to let herself spit them out. not after all of this – whatever mood she had sent him off into.

but she’s confused that he wants to show her where he grew up. opening up after a moment like that wasn’t typical, but she supposed nothing about ky was. still not fully meeting his gaze, she nods again. “yeah – i – if that’s what you want to do tonight…. we can.” she always wishes to know more, but she’s nervous to see what this night would bring.

he was about to say what he wanted to do tonight was tear into a few humans, but that was the usual. ky always wanted to rip them apart and sometimes he wanted to do the same to her – the only thing that stopped him was that simple amount of feelings. feelings, that was starting to actually recognize.

“unless, you have better idea’s.” not that he expected her to present any – ky was just attempting to be decent. so far? he didn’t know how it would work out, but his intention was to give her an opening. if she really wished to hurt him… he’d give her the full picture – from his point of view – and then let her make her own assumptions.

the words on the tip of her tongue immediately left her mind when she felt his fingers around her throat. in a sense, it was a wake up call, reminding her that she did not have the upperhand by any means. sure, she had gotten better at protecting herself but that would never take away from the competitive edge he would have over her.

maybe in the beginning she had been afraid of him, but comfort and her feelings ha allowed her to grow past that…. and she had had a bit too much to be pissed about recently which only added fuel to the fire, so to speak. fear shines through her eyes for a few moments, despite her not thinking that he would hurt her for a long time until this moment.

swallowing back the emotions in hopes of pushing this moment to the back of her mind (but certainly not forget about it), jessica nodded her head slightly, her eyes focused to the left of his head. she couldn’t make eye contact – not now.

“if you want to hurt me,” he said, moving his lips towards her ear, and lowering his voice to just a whisper. “you’re going to have to try so much harder than that.” of course, his final word was almost like a challenge in his own way. no, she didn’t hurt him with her words – maybe at one time, but not now. he’d lost far too much of whatever humanity was left for that to happen.

“now,” he let go of her throat, the same hand running through his hair, “i’m in the mood for pizza, beer, and showing you exactly where i grew up.” his final words were a step forward – more so since he was going to give her exactly what she needed to hurt him. so, ky was going to show – as well as tell her – everything. “would you like that?”
