“I THOUGHT THEY WOULD have come up with something a little more creative.”
“YOU REALLY THOUGHT THAT?” eyes rolled at his own comment. “creative or otherwise, they seem to lack real creative insight. i believe we should change that, don’t you?”
HIS GAZE IS STILL HARD, GLARING at the other . ross has no doubt that ky will harm him in one form or another but he isn’t scared . he hadn’t been a POW , soldier , liaison and run with the avengers for nothing . he could handle pain and torture . another thing the CIA teaches you as well . “ do what you want with me , but i don’t have what you seek . ” everett gives him a pointed stare .
IF HE WAS YOUNGER, there would have been another outcome; saying that it was fine, punching ross in the face, and tracking down other leads. of course, those day’s were long past and while it would have saved time over-all to take that secondary route… he didn’t think it was needed. “if you can’t give me what i want,” he said, moving to grab ross by the chin. “it seems you’re… disposable. doesn’t it?”
A SKEPTICAL BROW ARCHES.i’ll owe you? ross wants to spit the words back in his face but he doesn’t. he’s just more interested that he actually got a response from the man. curious and curiouser. so he doesn’t comment. “sure, sure. whatever floats your boat, ky. now, i’m going to try and find tony and figure out a game plan.” being still and idle does him no good. ross is a man of action and he needs to keep himself busy. “so you can tag along or not, but i’m going.”
fingers brush along his kimoyo beads, revealing a wakandan vessel from it’s cloak. he goes right up the ramp and to the cockpit. hands fly over the control as he radio’s stark tower. the agent isn’t sure if any one is there yet, but it’s worth trying.
HE DIDN’T WANT TO TAG ALONG. all ky’lar wanted to do was LEAVE and go back to a place he at least knew. of course, there was no way possible he could even think about doing that now. not when the scales of balance had changed into chaos; even he wasn’t that BLIND to how reality worked.
“YOU SHOULD THINK of it as going with you keeps me out of trouble.” no, that much was a full out LIE. ky would get into MUCH more trouble there, but at least then he could LOOK like was attempting to help, and quite honestly… that was what was needed.
“WHO IS TO SAY THE MOMENT I DO, you don’t turn around and muck things up for the rest of us? further more, what makes you think i actually have what you need, hm?” eyes are hard, glaring at ky. arms cross over his chest. ross isn’t going to give up without a fight. verbal or physical. hopefully it’s just verbal. much simpler that way.
THERE WAS A GOOD CHANCE this was all for nothing; that Ross would not have the answers he wanted. It was a possibility, but one he wasn’t too keen on exploring. All he had to do was put the pressure on properly and everything would come crashing down. All he had to dow as play his part. “You give me what i DESIRE and you’ll live another day. If you don’t…. you’ll SUFFER worse than anyone has never known. That is unmistakeable.”
“SAVE YOUR SOB STORY FOR someone who cares, ky.” ross spits the words out, making a point when his hand waves the other away in the air. “sit here and wallow in your own self pity for all i care, but i’ve got better things that listening to your sorry ass.” one last annoyed look and then ross is turning on his heel. he’ll need to met up with tony and figure out a game plan. obviously, strange had seen something. maybe the iron man would know what it had been.
THE WORDS DIDN’T PHASE HIM. maybe at one point they would have, but that time was long since passed. the world had changed and ky was just about ready to change with it. no, it didn’t matter what he did – nor did it truly matter what anyone else did in this moment. far more people were dead now than there ever had been in existence and for what? a mad titan’s dream to ‘fix’ reality.
THE VERY NOTION of it forced the demon to shake his head for a moment or two. it was a no win situation he was in, but he wouldn’t classify it was pity – no, ky didn’t even know know to explain it. all he did know was that everything anyone knew about reality was at an end. “no one cares,” he said bluntly, moving to follow ross. “but you’ll owe me one either way.” though, even ky doubted he’d be able to do anything, but it was his own way – no, his version of saying he’d stick around to attempt to sort things out. even if all he wanted to do was ignore it all.
A HARD EYE ROLL, ENOUGH to make his head hurt. lips curl into a snarl and ross shakes his head. “i was done the moment i lay eyes on you.” maybe ross should be scared, but he’s more annoyed and angry at the moment. ross continues to walk. “i really don’t care at this point.”
“THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAND OVER what i want, Ross.” That way, Ky could move forward with his plans, and wouldn’t have to deal with the other again. Though, he doubted that he would actually comply with-out some use of force. “It’s all very simple.” A pause. “You hand me what I want and then I leave you alone.”
HE KNEW SAYING THESE THINGS WOULD fall on deaf ears, but ross felt better for saying them. however, the finger that poked him squarely in the chest was gripped and twisted away from his person. the man didn’t let up. “fully human or not, there is more than one species in this galaxy. i’d say ask the guardians but they’re pretty much all gone. whether you’re human or not, you reside in this universe therefore you are effected. it’s your war.” with the utterance of his last word, ross releases ky’s hand and straights himself out. “fuck off for all i care. but if you come crawling back, needed help, you won’t find it with me.”
ROSS WAS RIGHT. this war was his own – far more than he realized and it was a chance to do some good for once. though, ky wasn’t in the mood to actually attempt it or even do so. why make anything right when the world – no universe just needed to be tipped a bit further down into chaos. part of him knew it was wrong to do so, but at the same time? he just didn’t care – not when he firmly believed that his involvement wasn’t needed one way or another. “not my war,” he affirmed bluntly. “i didn’t start it and i wasn’t involved. ” it was like he was a broken record – either way? he was done trying to justify himself or his actions. at least to him. “human or otherwise? i’m not going to pick up the pieces when i never was wanted in this universe to begin with.”
“I THOUGHT WE ALREAD established that i wasn’t going to tell you what you need to know. you can keep following me all you want, but i’m still not changing my mind. not till you man up.”
“AN’ HERE I THOUGHT YOU would have changed your mind,” his done dripped of sarcasm as he took a step forward. “everything will end once you tell me what i want. if you don’t? well, i’m known to be quite creative in some circles.” his lips then pursed into a thin-line. “either way, i’m ready to end this little game of ours, but the real question is… are you?”
A LOW AND MIRTHLESS laugh falls from bitter tongue . “ you’re a real piece of work ky , you know that . ” cobalt hues dance with a fierce passion , looking up at the other . “ unlike you , i don’t take the coward’s way out . unlike you , i have a sense of morality and duty . unlike you , i have a conscious . ” words flow from ross’ lips without his permission . but he’s on a roll know . “ you don’t think i don’t know that ? thano’s reach extended far beyond the planet and system . but correct me if i’m wrong , this became the epicenter when thanos took the first of his final stands here . we held the most infinity stones . we became the roadblock or the problem in thano’s way . so yeah , for right now , this does revolve around earth and her people . ”
“FAIRLY PUT,” he said. “however, i remain unconvinced.” ross’ words rang true, but ky… as much as he tried wouldn’t see it that way. thanos may have ended half of all life. could have even ended everything, but he chose to leave some alive. maybe, if things were different, ky could have attempted to see it his way, but it didn’t look like it. not anytime soon in-fact either. “you have your morality an’ duty. i DON’T have any of that – i go home now an’ maybe i won’t get SKINNED alive.” a pause. “i do mean skinned – not the metaphorical version either.” in truth, he could have said much more, but instead, he moved to poke a finger right into ross’s chest – something he knew he’d regret, but done all the same. “this isn’t my war… it’s humanities very own.”
he doesn’t retch his chin away . instead, he stares the other, dead on. eyes are fierce, blazing like the hottest star. ross tried to comply. came up with a solution. but he was to continued to be tortured, so be it. this wasn’t the first time nor would it be the last. “either way, i’m ready. are you?”
KY ENJOYED THE TORMENT MORE THAN THE ANSWERS! he enjoyed ripping apart someone more than the final result – the JOURNEY was far more important than the DESTINATION. “you want a reason?” he asked, “i’ll give you the best reason of them all; i want to tear it all down – every bit of it.” oh, he’d do much more, but that was just a small taste of what he had in mind. “and you’re going to help me.”
