“give me a moment. good random violence is a little harder to perfect.” personal vendettas came with easier ideas and more passionate execution. “but hey, maybe i’m more in the mood to ruin people’s nights at the bar. subtle evil.“ there was plenty to be done to ruin someone’s time in a bar.

“bars are only good for drinking and making deals at. ‘course, if you want to cause some real chaos, you go to a small town bar — old type of bar where they have the same customers for years. not to mention the guy’s have never seen someone new around in months. stride in.” he chuckled. “you come in, start pitting them against each other, and the next thing you know? blood bath.

‘i think into everything way too much, i know. side effect of getting murdered by someone you thought was your friend… but hey, we’ll have to see if you live up to your word.’ he hadn’t done anything to prove he was bad, vague threats for unwavering obedience aside. it was actually nice to have company that she could speak openly with.

‘i will always live up to my word.’ well, that itself was a lie, but he was trying to impress her. at least… he thought he was. ‘so, i promise to never hurt you, and protect you.’ he doubted he could, but it was nice to stay either way.

‘guess they’re technically in their dumb teenager phase, without god around tot ell them what to do. can’t really blame them but i’m still going to.’ it hurt, to think how much she believed in the good of the world. how she was sure her mother still dragged the family to church every sunday.

‘angels, demons, humans, they all have their faults,’ some more than others. ‘they can’t depend on their father or even god at all times.’ he learned that long ago. they had to depend on themselves — no matter who they were. ‘angels are bastards, demons just the same, and humans… you know.’

❝ that’s so not funny, asshole.  ❞ yet she is completely unable to suppress her own chuckle.

❝ god dammit you’re rubbing off on me. if i wasn’t going to hell before i sure am now for laughing at that.  ❞

“no, it was funny.” then again, ky thought people selling their souls for just a few seconds of relief was amusement for the day. “— and if i am rubbing off on you, how would you feel about a formal date; no strings attached. just you, me, and whatever you want to eat.”

crispyblonde:

‘how does that work?’ she felt bad, if he didn’t really have a chance from the start, how could he really be blamed for any of the choices he had made. ‘ — i mean, i can’t say i’m completely not interested despite how wrong it sounds. you gotta be keeping me around for something, right?’

there were loads he kept her around for, but he wouldn’t admit it. no, he was willing to keep her in the dark as that was easier for him, and he didn’t have to give explanations. ‘i was born into this. simply that.’

❝ cute. but it seems like you’re aiming more toward fisher price levels of violence, hmm? ❞ child’s play as far as she was concerned. given who her ex-boyfriend was, she understood the wish to remain out of the sight of one, but she was tired of tiptoeing around.

“—- and you believe you could do better?” sure, he may have enjoyed her presence, but there was a reason he avoided demons. they were all so… annoying. even more so since he always seemed to find himself in-between demon and human — never able to chose an exact side.

‘demons in general, not just you? missed opportunity of exuding fratty overconfidence there, ky. or do you know from personal experience of hooking up with demons back before you were one yourself?’

‘i always was a demon.’ at least partly, ‘i just know from experience and we can leave it at that.’ then again, he didn’t even like intimacy; he hated the very idea of it, but it was useful at times, ‘unless, you’re more interested in what i can do?’

‘ —— i dunno, the deeper things… your emotions, your past, your fears… sometimes you give out little snippets but those conversations get shot quickly.’ nobody liked to share everything, even with people that they felt very close to. it was human nature to keep some secrets and bottle up certain emotions about awful experiences. ‘yeah, of course. but your word is different. you can go back on it after already getting what you want.’

‘sometimes you shouldn’t think into things too much. you might not think much of me, but i consider myself to be halfway decent.’ a pause, ‘well, for a demon.’ it wasn’t exactly truth nor was it a full lie either, but either way, ky didn’t think it mattered, ‘i don’t go back on my word or deals. you can be sure of that.’

“Not too bad. Just gotta find the interesting humans to hang around. Though I
feel like my vessel no longer fits in at college parties. It’s a shame, really. Seeing
everything go to shit at those things has to be one of the best forms of entertainment.”
She didn’t mind her life being a little dull, she had had plenty of excitement back in
her day… and it had only lead to heartache.

“Well, I’ve been thoroughly uninvolved for years now and even longer before that.
I’ll take my chances. I thoroughly regret getting involved last time I did and I don’t
want to feel that way again.”

“you could always find a place that’s better than here.” ky had attempted to do
so several times over. of course, all he wanted, all he really wanted was some
peace. it was something he wasn’t going to get. well, not anytime soon, and
there was doubt that he ever would actually obtain it. after-all, who wanted to
give a demon a decent ending; happy or otherwise…. demons didn’t get good
endings, it was always being sent back to hell or worse.

“creation is a big place. i’m sure you’d be able to find something.” rather, he
hoped she would be able to find something. if not, well, that wasn’t his
problem, but still… he tried to be hopeful.

‘sometimes i wonder if anyone has a choice in anything these days. the angels are running around, putting people in positions they shouldn’t have to be in and claiming its all about some larger bullshit plan.’ as far as she was concerned the angels were ten times worse than demons ever were.

‘well, angels, all angels are jerks.’ and that was putting it lightly, ‘they think they are following some divine plan, and that they are the only one’s who know how anyone should behave.’ there was a roll of his eyes, ‘if it was up to me, all angels, no matter what side they were on, would be extinct.’
