“Yet. They aren’t dead yet. The job of ruler of hell offers little security,” Castiel fired back evenly. Even Crowley, who once seemed untouchable, had fallen too— and he was much smarter than the average demon. If Crowley couldn’t hold the throne, why would those beneath him be any different? “I experienced the events of the Bible differently than how humanity remembers them,” he continued flatly. “With Lucifer gone, Hell has little hope for stability. No one who attempts to take that seat will make any difference.”

The angel stood, unflinching. “No. If Hell is so powerful and insists on a natural order, then it shouldn’t require the help of an angel to right itself.” He narrowed his eyes. Helping demons was the absolute last thing he wanted to do, and  if this man assumed otherwise…well, he was sorely mistaken.“Or am I wrong?

“Nothing about hell is… natural by any means.” Most demons were once human – twisted to the point beyond recognition. Others… he didn’t even want to think about what they were before. Hell was… well, it changed people; time worked differently down there and the more a person stayed…  the more they changed.

“Sometimes, it needs help to push it in the right direction.” Or, at least a nudge. Even if Castiel didn’t do anything – that didn’t mean change wouldn’t happen. It would all  come on it’s own accord. Ky just wanted to… quicken the so called arrival of such change. “You know how Demons can be.”

“Read the Bible,” Castiel said shortly. An angel’s duty may have been to protect God’s creations and carry out his will, but sometimes his intent involved saving humanity from itself. If there were humans that posed enough of a threat, then Heaven had no choice but to intervene. And this, it seemed, was no exception.

“I’m not here to sit on shoulder. It’s not my job to keep you on the right path. You made your own decisions, now you’ll live with the consequences,” he continued, his stance unwavering. “I’ll only repeat myself once: leave.”

image

“The bible is only a book twisted by mortal scribes; with more than enough thrown out as it wasn’t ‘decent enough’ to make it through the editing state.” Ky spend enough time in churches to know not everything made sense. Granted, his knowledge was warped thanks to his own bias, but he doubted that little bit of information mattered.

“You might not believe it, but there is no right path. Least of all when it involves my kind; humans are  pretty bad, i’ll give them that, but you? I wonder – can you surv-” he was about to issue another taunt. One that he knew he wouldn’t be able to back away from, but then he caught himself.

No, he didn’t have enough motivation, willpower, or actual power itself to go through with the threat he was about to issue. A reason to why he took a step back and  folded his arms firmly across his chest. “— this isn’t over.”

“Then you’ve chosen wrong,” the angel said, unfazed and unflinching. There was no demon that could terrify him; he knew their kind, and the Host did not bend easily to threats. “Your doubt is misplaced.”

Castiel took a step closer. If there was a bluff here, now was the time to call it. He didn’t have the time to be playing games, nor did he feel the need to humor someone like this. “I’ll say this once more,” he continued. “Leave now, before I lay you to waste.”

“Would you really waste your precious energy against some human, Angel boy?” There was a bluff and  it had been called, but not entirely – he believed he could hold his own against one. Though, he didn’t exactly know for how long. His estimate was maybe a few minutes, but no longer than three – five at the very most. Just as long as he stayed just slightly out of the other’s reach.

“Or are you really going to attempt to ‘guide’ me in a better direction.” He was reaching now as he took a step back. More out of need than actual fear. “Like  all you… holy types try to do? Over and over again?”

“‘In theory.’ Asmodeus failed to restore Hell to what it once was. Lucifer, Crowley, and all of the princes are dead. What makes you believe that any of your replacements are more qualified than they were?” It wasn’t as though Castiel cared for Hell’s politics— or the fate of demons, for that matter— but without a competent ruler, perhaps their threat would be lessened.

“I’m aware of what your ‘other means’ entail,” he said evenly, unfazed by any threats. “And I won’t allow that. The better question is, is this a fight that you want?”

image

“They are clearly more qualified due to the fact the others are are dead,” he said bluntly. “You fight your war to save the world, but you fail to notice that things will correct itself on it’s own terms. There must always be some ruler of hell – not everyone  makes it to those nice gates up above and no one wants to. Ever read that shit-show of a holy text? No one would make it into heaven – not with the old laws or the new ones.” Not that Ky had actually read it fully. Maybe years ago he did once, but now… all he had was vague and scattered memories about the text.

“It’s a simple trade; you lead me in the right direction and we can both go on with our lives.” It was a hopeful prospect, but one evenKy knew had a low chance of possibly working. still, he was at least going to attempt to be decent… even if every fiber of his being urged him to attack the other out of pure spite.  “What do you say?”

“Others. Crowley is dead, your princes are dead. Lucifer himself was killed by his own arrogance. Maybe one of you will be able to replace them, but how soon will they fall as well?” Of course, the same could be said for Heaven at the moment, but maybe there was still hope. That wasn’t the sort of optimism he was willing to extend to demons, however. “You aren’t going to find whatever information you’re looking for here. I can assure you of that.”

image

“The chances of them falling again is actually quite slim. They might be dead, but there are others who have…  a right to the throne. Ones, who could – in theory – get things back to the way it was long  ago.” Or not, in reality, he didn’t care about hell  too much, but he did care about getting things into working order.

“You see, I might not get the information I want,  but I can obtain it from other means,” he said bluntly. “So, I think the question you should ask yourself is simple; do you really want this fight?”

“All objects may serve a purpose, but that purpose may not be intended for all who encounter it,” the angel said flatly. There were many holy artifacts that fit exactly that description, after all: useful for angels or other divine beings, would probably kill anyone else who tried to use them. That was why, among other reasons, it was important to know one’s place.

Castiel narrowed his eyes, unflinching. “It’s your choice to waste your time and resources, then.” He didn’t trust this man— not in the slightest— but if he wasn’t working for Hell, then at least there was no real danger. One lone demon acting on his own wouldn’t get very far anyway. “And if I choose to withhold information I may have, that’s my choice.”

image

“My choice,” he said, taking a step forward, “Is to obtain what is needed.  You may not like it. In-fact, you may even hate it, but it’s doubtful you’ll be able to stop me.” Or, maybe Ky was just being overconfident in his own abilities. Either way, it didn’t truly matter – not to him at least.

“Even so, it’s your choice; either give me what you want or get out of my  way.” It wouldn’t get him closer to what was specifically needed, but instead, it would be a show of force. More so to let Castiel know exactly what he was capable of. “Understand?”

defiedheaven:

“I don’t know what you hope to achieve,” Castiel says, narrowing his eyes slightly. “Lucifer isn’t going to return. Hell is in disarray. One would think that your time would be better spent elsewhere.” // @hellfirebound ♥’d!

“You say that as if it’s a bad thing. Our dear lord Lucifer may be gone, but that doesn’t mean others won’t take control.” As for putting things back in order? Ky didn’t even know if it was possible, but he wasn’t going to try. Not yet anyways. “Either way? I just need the location of something – once I have it? I’ll be out of your hair.”

“Yes,” Castiel said bluntly. He didn’t trust demons— or anyone affiliated with them— in the slightest. In the end, their true nature always revealed itself, and they served no one but themselves and their so-called “God.” In short, whatever this man wanted was most likely only going to serve a means to an end, and the angel wasn’t going to help him achieve that.

Of course Castiel knew what he was referring to. The Ark of the Covenant was not an obscure relic, and he knew why Heaven had sent him here. It only made sense that demons would want it, too. “That object won’t serve any purpose for you,” he said. “Your information was wrong.”

image

“all objects serve a purpose. you just lack the ability to see it.” even if ky couldn’t use it – there were other’s that could. press on the right pressure points and humans would do whatever he asked. it was all about patience; personal or otherwise to obtain exactly what he wanted.

“not to mention understand why i’d want my hands on such a thing.” he took a step forward. “then again, i don’t serve hell, i don’t serve the humans, and i believe… i don’t have to listen to snot nosed grace filled angels either.” or at least for the moment. “so, if i decide to go after something unattainable? that’s my choice.”

“Angels serve Heaven because that is our purpose.” It was most likely a wast of an effort to argue semantics with a demon, but Castiel was nothing if not stubborn— nor was he about to let insults stand. “You’ve only proven what I’ve said about you being misguided, but it isn’t my job to save you.”

Frankly, this man was lucky that he hadn’t pulled out his blade and ended this conversation much earlier. He was still tempted to, admittedly, but getting into a fight with some half-demon wasn’t the reason that he came here. Castiel had a mission, and he was going to finish it.

“And yet demons do the same thing that you are accusing humans of: They are flawed, murderous beings that feed off of the misery of others while waiting for their false god to return,” he continued. “God sealed Lucifer away in his cage, where he’ll stay until the end of days.”

image

“it’s not anyone’s job to save me – not meant to be saved in the first place.” or to be created, born, made – whatever it was called. truth be told, if ky could have found a simple ‘out’ he would have done it long ago, but here he was… having a debate about biblical affairs. oh, how far he had fallen.

“demons, humans, and even your kind are all… scraping around trying to find purpose,” he said bluntly. “i don’t believe in god or lucifer – i don’t even believe there is a heaven. it’s all souls go to one place; all go what you would call hell. simply put? reality is idiotic.”  not that ky could really complain, but he was just putting it out there.

“among other things,” he said bluntly. “if there is a god, lucifer… whatever you call it? they are long gone and don’t care.” at least in his mind.

defiedheaven:

“What are you doing here?” Castiel narrows his eyes. If demons— or someone with demonic ties, in this case— were present, then that was never a good sign. Their presence was always unwanted, and he wasn’t buying whatever they were selling. And frankly, he didn’t have the time to be dealing with abominations today. “Leave, now. Before I make you leave.” // @hellfirebound ♥’d!

“is it so hard to believe that even i can be helpful at times?” actually it was – ky almost always had something up his sleeve. all he had to do was enact his plans and let them unfold. of course, this time around he didn’t have a solid plan, and his ultimate goal was just to see how close he could get to ending the existence of the angel or… at least getting some answers.

“i’m here,” arms folding across his chest, “due to the fact i got word there was something in this area that could be useful – ever heard of ark before? square, said to hold some tablets or something. stolen by a group of very weird scientists a few years back?”
