it’s strange really. once he’d hated the thought that he belonged in Hell yet now he feels a sort of comfort in it. acceptance that comes with knowing where his place is and that he fits in there. he’s tried to be part of the human world, tried learning about them and understanding them. when he was in Hell he’s just your average run of the mill demon. lower than that, thanks to his bloodline. ❝I belong there more than anywhere else.❞ it’s not an argument, he was simply stating a fact. ❝I don’t have any memories worth keeping; all I have is me.❞
❝ then it wouldn’t be a shame if i simply…. took away all your memories then? just think of how free you would be. ❞ his words came out cool, but the meaning behind them was cruel. messing with anyone’s memories were dangerous — even more so when ky’lar would make sure the other would forever be his slave. to say he might have been decent at one time would be the truth, but ky’lar rarely didn’t get what he wanted these days,
❝ i could make that happen. ❞
maybe hate isn’t the term he should’ve used. resentment’s a little closer. he doesn’t hate Ky, just being owned by him. being a pet doesn’t suit him — he’s too feral to be tamed and too stubborn to break. his arguments are futile and he knew the only way to get the other demon to leave him alone is to give him what he wants. if it keeps him out of chains for a little while longer then he could forget his dislike for physical contact. he almost craves it now; fingers knotted in Ky’s hair, teeth catching his lip to provoke some kind of a response in him. Ky’lar started this by kissing his neck so he should either finish it or stop trying to distract him that way altogether.
there was no response at first : letting caleb do what he wanted was amusement in it’s own way. ky never was one to respond unless he wanted to —- even more so when he didn’t care for someone. caleb though, he was an exception as he leaned into the other’s fingers, and let a moan escape his lips. for now, he was going to give the other what he craved. for now.
on that at least they agree. she hated asking for help since it implies she can’t handle something and once someone thinks that they begin to underestimate you which leads to anarchy. she’s had enough problems as it is being looked down on. ❝depends on your perspective I guess, to me the two aren’t all that different.❞
while it was all perspective, ky’lar didn’t exactly believe that it was; yes, they were close, but one required loyalty, and the other did not.
❝ different to you maybe, but not for me. ❞ then again, he highly doubted she or, anyone for that matter would agree with his ideas on the subject.
“The next time you decide to disobey, I have a very nice place down below set up for you.” A slight grin pulled at his lips for a few moments, “You may not enjoy it at first, but with-in time…. you’ll be begging me to let you out, Caleb.”
❝ if that’s supposed to scare me you need some work on your methods. ❞
❝ my methods are quite SOUND if i must say so myself. it’s just you who never seem to ALLOW them to work. ❞ a pause,
❝ NOT entirely. ❞
whether he admits it or not, Ky had a point. not one he’d apologize for of course since he told him from the beginning that he wouldn’t follow anyone’s orders. those days were long gone and he’s still waiting for the day Ky’lar lost patience with him enough to stop trying for good. that meant going back to Hell but at this point he’s accepted it as inevitability. pissing him off is just killing time now. he should have known what the answer to his question would be but he hoped for a different one. ❝you know the definition of insanity, right? doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results.❞ brows raise to make his point, implying Ky’lar lost his mind. that’s the only explanation that makes sense when anyone else would have gotten rid of him. ❝I hate it when you say that.❞ lie. he’d hated it the first couple of times but now he’s starting to like it.
❝ perhaps everyone is insane. ❞ a simple statement that was more of a point of fact than anything else,
❝ you might not like what i do or how i treat you, but isn’t that the point of this? you’re a pet, a possession, and eventually, you’ll find your place. if you don’t? well, i’ll just simply send you back to where we all belong, an’ i’ll make sure you never get out. ❞ his lips pursed into a thin-line,
❝ not in this lifetime and possibly never again. you can be sure of that. ❞
“No.” If he was, Ky’lar would have made sure to do something far more than pay a short visit, “Did you learn your lesson, yet?”
the statement would’ve meant more if he didn’t already know what Ky’s definition of a reward is: being on his knees or being touched and called ‘good boy’. honestly that might be worse than the chains since he could get used to it——might even likeit enough to behave. he’s weak when it comes to contact that once he’d adjusted to it, he’s gotten in the mindset of not wanting it to stop. he didn’t want to get used to being anyone’s slave. ❝it’d be nice if you would ask me for something other than being on my knees all the time so I guess we’re both disappointed.❞
❝ i’ll request something different when you prove that you’re worth it. ❞ oddly enough, there was a doubt that caleb would ever be. after-all, he was a toy; something to get rid off once it was broken or outlived it’s usefulness. to some, it would have been considered worthless to attempt working with the other this long, but ky’lar enjoyed him, and that was all that mattered,
she’s not stupid. not gullible either and she didn’t believe for a second he’s being honest with her. some situations you simply can’t win. sometimes there isn’t a good solution, just bad or worse. if he hasn’t dealt with it he’s lucky because he will one day and he’ll have to figure out how to handle it. she’s come across nothing but those that while she isn’t very good at conflict resolution, she’s not foolish enough to feign ignorance. ❝lying only works when they trust you — just because you haven’t hit that roadblock yet, it doesn’t mean you won’t.❞
❝ an’ you’re wrong. trust is important, but not exactly needed.❞ then again, most of the time ky took what little trust he had, and abused it. if anything, the demon made sure to take whatever he was given, and then throw it back ten times over in their face — a reason to why he seemed to never be able to hold onto anyone he cared about for long. he always ruined everything,
❝ i might not have hit it yet, but eventually…. i might. ❞
they go through this so often that he already knew what came next. if he talks back his insolence would be punished by chains being put back on him then he’s reduced to being nothing more than a possession again. he’s tired of it. he’s too tired to voice an objection or comment on the praise that never failed to get on his nerves. he’s done his duty and all he wants now is to be left alone. not to read. he didn’t think he could get his mind to focus enough to read. he’d settle for silence and it’s broken by Ky speaking. the grip he has on Caleb’s chin forces him to look back at him instead of ignore him. temper flares and his jaw tenses, fighting the urge to remove himself from Ky’s hold. ❝how am I supposed to forget with you constantly reminding me?❞
❝—– you won’t.❞ his nails moved to dig into the other’s flesh for a few moments: just enough to firmly make another point as his free hand moved to pat caleb’s head,
❝ ‘cause, i’m quite sure that the more you obey, the less you’ll be in chains, but the less you obey? well, i have a feeling…you’ll learn your place soon enough, caleb. it’s under me. ❞
