“as long as it takes.” he never chose a side; the only side that he had was his own. if he won, he’d make sure to take everyone out, but if he lost? well, he’d make sure it was costly for all sides. that was just the way he operated. “i suppose you object?”
“i tore them apart.” it was more than that though; tearing apart would have been easy. no, ky did something far worse. he made sure to rip their skin off piece by piece. he made them truly suffer. that way… even in death they wouldn’t forget what they had done. “– they forced my hand.”
“— no.” maybe he could have simply let him go; that would have been so easy. just to wipe his hands of him. instead, ky decided to squeeze caleb’s shoulder even tighter. “you will stay.”
he’s not an idiot. might be a lot of things for a lot of good reasons but that’s never been one of them. if he ever got what he wanted – and that was a BIG if – it wouldn’t be anytime soon. more than likely Ky will toss him back in the pits again the next time he gets bored of trying and failing to make him be submissive. with an eternity of that to look forward to, you’d think he would have gotten the hint that he’s not going to break. “considering my circumstances, I think my attitude’s exactly what it should be.”
“it would be better if you did what i WANTED.” maybe it would have been, but ky was starting to realize that this wasn’t going to end the way he wanted it to. sending caleb back to the pits DIDN’T solve anything last time. still, it didn’t mean he couldn’t TRY again. “you know, doing what i ASK.”
he’s heard this threat far too many times to take it seriously. he spends a few weeks in the pit and the moment Ky gets bored, he takes him out. for some reason the idiotic demon keeps thinking that would break his spirit or make him compliant. nothing could manage that. now that he’s refusing to cooperate, he’s a quip away from being back in chains again. “if you’re waiting for me to beg we’re going to be in for a long-ass night.”
“do you know why i’ve kept you around?” the answer was quite obvious in his mind. though, it was more than just keeping caleb around as ky got bored. no, the demon wanted amusement – on most days. of course, a human would have been too easy to mold. no, he wanted something that wouldn’t bore him. “besides the fact you’re amusing at times?”
"you sure ‘bout that?” maybe once he had a chance, but that didn’t matter now. not when all ky wanted to do was cause the other pain. true, caleb had been amusing once, but it turned out to be more of an annoyance than anything else. “’cause i could make it happen.”
“be better if you weren’t here.” it’s not that he doesn’t mind the company except..well..he does. none at all would be an improvement over Ky’s. or maybe some particularly nasty demon.
“oh, trust me, it’d be much better if you did as you told, but doesn’t look like that will happen anytime soon.” a reason to why he had caleb here instead of where he enjoyed him the most. “so, i’ll be back in a few months, and do try to keep yourself alive. i’d be a shame if you… died.”
“you never like anybody, that’s nothing new.” it doesn’t really bother her because neither did she most days. her tolerance waxes and wanes yet he doesn’t have much of that, no matter who or what it’s regarding. “so what put you in a mood? it’s not like you’re the most charming person but you’re not usually this grumpy either.”
“who do you think?” he didn’t even need to say the name – his father had been hanging around enough. so, that was one of the primary reasons he was upset, but the rest? well, he was just having a bad day, and usually that meant far more than just an ounce of slaughter.
Send ‘I don’t feel so good’ for my muse’s reaction to yours suddenly fading away in front of them. Send ‘What’s happening?!’ For the reverse.
shit. that was the only words that went through his mind at this – whatever it was. ky knew he shouldn’t have brought caleb with him, but as per-usual, he just had to cause him to be miserable… now he was fading. he bet it had something to do with a battle or something, but there was nothing he could do about it now.
even as his arms crossed over his chest, he couldn’t help, but wonder what had caused it. “crap.” it was the only word he could managed to get out. not due to the fact he’d miss caleb, but due to the fact now he’d have to find another plaything.
“you’re just about to be thrown back in the pit.” ky didn’t have time for this shit. let alone from caleb. still, he was at least telling him the truth – well, right before he dragged him back there. “unless you change my mind.”
