well that was one hell of a disclaimer. either he’s some kind of serial killer or he’s like her, at least partially. she hadn’t met any other demons so it was hard to tell for sure but it made the most sense. the hell-hound recognized one of it’s own kind which didn’t make him a threat to her. she’s actually a little relieved about that. humans are a lot harder to talk to and it put his question in perspective. ❝it doesn’t get any easier when they’re immortal. if anything it’s a lot harder since once you know someone who’s around they have the power to destroy you and it’s your fault for putting it in their hands.❞

❝ true, but even immortals eventually fade away. ❞ at least in his experience,

❝ what i put in their hands is some form of trust —- i stick around for as long as i want and then leave. ❞ there was a shrug of the demon’s shoulders,

❝ i’m not good at sticking to one place…. never was. ❞

He wanted to say that this wasn’t expected. That his prized pet wouldn’t actually turn on him, but that wasn’t reality. They were always at each other’s throats and it was only a matter of time before this happened.

Ky was fooling with an old book, one that he had stolen for his own amusement, and he wouldn’t let Caleb even touch it. Not that the Demon cared about that the other did – as long as it didn’t mess with his plans – too much, but at the same time, this was important.

So important that he was willing to make sure that the book didn’t fall into the hands of anyone besides himself. A reason it had been under lock and key — until Ky decided to give it another look over.

One thing lead to another and soon enough he found himself with an old blade stuck right in his left shoulder. It should have known leaving out things would cause Caleb to eventually strike at him and it was another reason he was going to use the chains again when he got the chance.

“You should learn to stop while you’re ahead, Caleb.” His words came out far more calmer than he expected, but not with-out his own version of malice, “You won’t live to do this again.”

of course it doesn’t matter. or it shouldn’t anyway. she’s simply making a comment based on what she’s observed about him and maybe she should know better than to do that. he pulled away whenever she mentions such things and she’d rather not cause that reaction yet. ❝no, I suppose not.❞ she’d once thought the same but that was a long time ago; she’d grown bored with it since then. ❝I only do it when I have to. there’s easier ways of getting something done than simply killing someone.❞

❝ to you. ❞ maybe he shouldn’t have been so blunt : telling the truth was something that needed to happen between them, but at the same time, the demon doubted it needed to truly happen. if he was being honest, there were so many other ways than murder, but at least murder was quick —- anything else was slow and of course painful,

❝ not to anyone else. ❞

❝you’re not seriously telling me I have to watch whatever
this is on my knees, are you? sounds uncomfortable.❞ if he
knew what the hell they were supposed to be watching he
may not have any  objections but being on his knees to do
it? there’s no possible way he’ll be able to focus. ❝you sure
are one kinky son of a bitch. ❞

uncomfortable for you. ❞ he left off the maybe as he truly didn’t
care about what caleb wanted. not entirely at least,

❝ i just thought
you were used to it by now. ❞ though, in truth, the demon could
have cared less about how caleb watched —- just as long as
he did as he was told.
