‘ you can’t be serious. please tell me this is some sort of joke. tell me you’re not that delusional. ’
‘ i haven’t done anything wrong in my entire life, ’ a pause, his face shifting to one of seriousness to pure laughter, ‘ from a certain point of view. ’
Literally every single one of my muses wants to sign up for that.
sign them all up he deserves it.
ky didn’t want to spend time with either of them. his father was bad enough and his grandfather? worse. a reason to why he avoided both of them at all costs. running into them was akin to torture – a reason he made sure to keep his distance. even if he wanted to patch things up between either of them… it wasn’t worth it. more importantly, it wasn’t worth the pain.
‘ i’d rather spend an eternity in purgatory than deal with them,’ he said bluntly, arms folding across his chest. ‘ or burn down the country side.’
an internal switch is flipped and there is a brief minute of calm before the storm. she smiles at the son she’d so generously taken into her home, hand cradling his face for a brief moment before turning away. and in an instant, she’s snapped one of the legs off the coffee table and shoved the jagged point into his chest. ‘ you know what? i think we’re done here, ky. why don’t you crawl back to your daddy? see if he can tolerate the headache that is your existence for longer than a day or two. ’
and there it was; the reaction he wasn’t intending to obtain, but he got it anyways. suffice to say, he was a bit shocked, but it didn’t show across his features as he smirked for a few moments. ‘i don’t need to crawl back to anyone, mother. unless you’ve forgot to check the memo’s… neither one of them is talking to me right now and i’m not going to change that.’ not at the moment at least – he’d want to stay away from both of them. it didn’t matter if they were family or not… he’d see the world dead before he crawled back to them.
‘so why don’t you tell me what is so damn important?’ his voice raised louder than intended, but oh… his anger was starting to bleed through. a reason to why his hands formed into tight fists. ‘either that or i walk.’ it wouldn’t be for long- he just needed to cool off, but it was quite clear that it didn’t look like that was happening anytime soon.
ky’lar was spiraling out of control and not even he could stop this fall. not this time.
doing what? let me guess. none of my business. you’re some kind of unbelievable and i’m about at my limit.
think of it this way; i have things to do and they don’t involve… you or anyone for that matter.
did i say i was giving you a choice in any of this?
did i say i was going to listen? the answer is no. i’m busy.
‘ did it ever occur to you that i care little as to whether you’re ready or not? that you even have a choice in any of this? i don’t do bargains and i certainly am not about to play this game with you, ky’lar. perhaps others have allowed you to flip flop back and forth and jerk them around, but i will not. this is the end of the line for you. i suggest you come willingly. ’
he was just about to give off a sarcastic remark about how he could refuse, but instead, ky thought better of himself. a reason to why he sucked in a deep breath and let it out as slowly as he could. if this was to be the end of the line… the least he could do would be to issue a request – even if he doubted it would get him anywhere. ‘ let me go to purgatory, ’ he said, arms folding across his chest. ‘ let me fight for an hour then i’ll go… willingly. ’ going there was a death sentence anyways, but he was at least hoping that if he exhausted himself… maybe he wouldn’t have regrets about his decision.
‘ i’m not ready to die, you know, maybe tomorrow.’ or maybe in an hour when he hits another low point where he feels like he can’t go on. still, he wasn’t going to – not if he could help it anytime soon.
