i was leaning more towards the self depreciation and general shit attitude, but sure. those are all solid reasons that might lead to trouble in paradise.

we call can’t be perfect. you might have been to paradise on earth once, but the chances of that happening to me are slim to none. then again, the whole demon thing either gets them amused or out comes the knives and guns.

a soft kiss is place to her son’s forehead before she pulls back to look into his eyes.  you don’t believe that. if you did, you wouldn’t feel the need to make an effort at all. fingers rest atop his right hand, a gentle squeeze given in encouragement.  your father’s legacy doesn’t have to be your own, ky’lar. you can break the cycle right here and now and live an existence that has good as well as the bad. it won’t be easy, but i promise it will be rewarding.

he was doing this to keep the peace and not have people all over his back. a reason to why he was attempting to keep his head down. if that meant having restraint… so be it. then again, maybe he just hadn’t let himself attempt to be better as he was doing what was expected of him… from everyone. not to mention that he didn’t remember a time – if there ever was one – where someone actually cared for him. it was always stay out of the way and do what he wanted…. another reason for why he never restrained his own impulses. ‘i can break nothing.’ a simple statement as a deep sigh escaped his lips, ‘no matter what i do… or don’t do… i’m still the same. still just nothing more than a mistake.’

dusttcdusk:

progress not perfection, sweetheart. given his upbringing, it’s no wonder he runs headfirst into trouble. while she cannot fault him for turning out how he did, that doesn’t mean she’ll let him be blameless in his decisions.  rome wasn’t built in a day. i can’t expect you to have mastered self restraint in less than a week. i do appreciate your trying though.

the truth of the matter was that he was struggling. he was meant for more than simply following rules and staying out of everyone’s way. he didn’t like being told what to do and he resisted restrictions with every fiber of his being. a reason to why he enjoyed doing what he wanted. when he specifically wanted it. ‘ but it did fall,’ he said bluntly. ‘ i don’t need self restraint as long as they stay out of my way. ’
