“are you ever not disappointed?” there was no doubt that he shouldn’t have been so blunt, but he was just a second too late on controlling his tongue. it was going to cost him – there was no doubt about that, but he was willing to see her reaction first before… he tried to dig himself out of this specific hole.
Lilith leaned in, now closer to his face, looking over each of his features. So much time had passed since he’d been in front of her and she’d always loved when he’d come but this time, she was truly intrigued.
“Tell me Ky’lar, who is this piece that you’d like to keep out of the game? Is it someone that I might know— I hope— I always like being involved in an intriguing game of cat and mouse.”
Chuckling, she leaned back on her throne, waving at her attendents to leave the room. As they scurried from the room, she patted the seat next to hers. His father’s seat. Her eyes now focusing on him closer, trying to see inside him but not pushing enough to dig up things she wasn’t interested in. Taking a deep breath, she lifted her hand twisting at the wrist before a golden scepter appeared in her delicate fingers.
“So— let’s say I do have something that you could use. As you know— you’ll have to tell me what’s in it for me? I care about you my dearest but— there is always a price when you come to my palace and ask for a favor.”
it was a dangerous risk. coming here wasn’t something that he wanted to do, but it would mean that he wasn’t going to back out of everything at the last minute. he wanted his father out of the picture; not for a short while, but for a time that would be significant for him to at least be able to operate in peace.
however, he wanted to keep things simple, and work his way into elaborating. a reason to why he slowly made his way forward. if it was up to him, ky would have real power — not just a title that in his mind was worthless, but that took work. not to mention support and that… was something he knew he wouldn’t get this century.
“loyalty.” it wasn’t the only thing he was willing to put on the line, but he also knew this wouldn’t come cheap. not to mention that there was no doubt that he would get in more trouble than he ever would have been in if word of this little ‘chat’ got out. he didn’t need a repeat of last time, “among other things.”
Her eyes closed as she heard the sounds of steps behind her. She’d known he’d be coming and although not a surprise, it was wanted. Lilith turned and as she lifted her head, her bright blue eyes opened, smile spreading across her features.
“If it isn’t the favored son of Hell returned.”
She stepped forward, reaching her arms out as the women around her rushed to wrap her in a long flowing robe before beginning to brush out her waist length golden mane. “Tell me Ky’lar what brings you to my palace? Are you in need of something that only I can provide?”
❝ i’m quite sure you have several things i need. ❞
that much was for certain; if he was feeling greedy, he could have requested far more than what he desired at the current time. however, that would have meant far more motivation than he currently had, and not to mention that the demon would have to prove that he was worthy — something that he didn’t have time for.
❝ however, i’m here for a weapon; something strong enough to take someone out of the great game for a few hundred years. ❞
