Well shit that wasn’t what he was expecting. Though he should have known someone who’s power he could sense would react this way. Violence and darkness were in his blood, and no doubt in this man’s as well. It was only a moment he had to look Ky’lar over, and it didn’t tell him much. He was an older man, by probably ten years. Confident, but more than that. Self assured, someone with experience. So many things Aaron lacked, no matter how hard he tried.
“Well, I’d be obligated to stop you from doing that, for one thing.“
“You’re strong, but do you want to risk taking me on?“
Putting his hands on the chair opposite Ky’lar, he leaned closer. This wasn’t what he wanted to have happen here. He didn’t want to be starting fights, much less ones he didn’t know for sure he could win. “You’re not the only one here with power. So just… listen. I’m sure it’s in everyone’s best interest.”
Taking a step back, Aaron put a hand in his pocket. Fingers around his Avengers Identicard, he wondered how long it would take reinforcements to get here. No time at all, once they were in a quinjet. But how long to do that? Too long, if lives were on the line. He had to make sure it didn’t come to violence.
“My name is Aaron, and I… could sense you. I needed to know if you were someone I should be concerned about. If you were coming after me, were a threat to me.“ Honesty hour, as it were. “And if I thought you were… I told myself, I’d have to take you down. So, the question is… are you?“
Reaching for his drink, he gave a slight glance towards Aaron, but then returned his gaze back to the screen. He wasn’t going to deal with this right now. “Fifty Eight seconds,” he said, moving the cup to his lips, and drinking it down.
He was at least giving Aaron time to explain. As for how long? Not enough, but quite honestly, Ky didn’t truly care either. In his mind, Aaron was someone who was a threat; one that could take his time away from him.
“I’ve taken my Father on on several occasions and beings larger than Stark Tower,” he said flatly. “You still have time to explain yourself and prevent… a blood bath.”
Either way, Ky didn’t care what happened, but this place was the only coffee shop this side of town with an excellent selection. So, he had a slight soft spot in his mind for it, but not a large one.
“So, the question isn’t what I am,” he said, moving to take a sip, and then sighing that the cup was empty. “It’s how you’re going to explain why someone so… lesser than myself is interrupting me.”
For Aaron every soul was a flame, a unique signal he could sense within a person. Some were strong, some barely held on. And some burned with such intensity that he could feel them from across a city. He tended to avoid those lights; after all when one is in hiding from dark forces it is unwise to seek out beings of power.
But he couldn’t resist anymore. The draw to seek out this baleful light was too strong. Standing at the landing platform in Avengers Tower, he stepped off the building and let himself be carried by magic into the air. He flew across the city, eyes intent on the source of the strange draw. The air around him heated, subconsciously influenced by his desire to know more. This was power, but beyond that, something different. Something familiar, not unlike himself. Was this another half demon?
He had to know.
Aaron slowed as he approached the source, steam rising off his body from contact with moisture in the air. He calmed himself as he touched down outside a coffee house, though his sudden arrival had seemed to startle a few people on the street. He ignored them. Ignored everything but the beacon of a powerful soul.
Aaron opened the door slowly, walking into the cafe with caution. He couldn’t know if this person had sensed his approach, and if he did Aaron didn’t want to be seen as a threat. He was an Avenger, now. He couldn’t go starting random magical battles in the middle of the city. So he kept his emotions, his magic, under wraps. Of course, this all brought about a new problem. How does one introduce themselves to someone in this particular instance?
“Er… hello,“ he said as he approached Ky’lar, unsure of why he had come here. “Do you… know who I am?“ Dumb way to go, but that was usually how Aaron handled things. Stumble through until you get it right.
What he wanted was a nice cup of coffee and to ‘borrow’ some of their internet. The hotel he was currently staying at had a very shitty – no, nonexistent connection for the last few hours, and he was growing tense.
So, he thought coming here was the best bet; it didn’t just have free wi-fi ( even though he would have paid ) it had people. People, that if pushed in the right direction would more than likely play right into his hands.
Still, he could sense something or someone was near; he didn’t know what ( exactly ), but the hair on the back of his neck stood up at the presence. As unusual as it was, there were few beings who caused it; most of them he knew by their signature of sorts, but this was an unknown.
It made his very skin crawl to the point were the discomfort was neigh unbearable.
“You have approximately sixty seconds before this place turns into a blood bath,” he said, not even glancing up from the computer for the moment. “I would take that time to explain yourself and most importantly… note why i shouldn’t kill everyone in this place as well.”
