he wished he could say that everything was true – that he never lied to her -, but the reality was different. he lied to not just protect her, but himself as well. the only regret he had was that she found out. he couldn’t change the past – not even if he wanted to. “don’t do this to yourself, viv,” he said, hands running through his hair. “you… you know everything i’ve told you is the truth.” mostly.
His touch caused the young hunter to pause from her almost frantic flipping through the pages of an old, worn tome. For a moment, she was silent…. and, when she did speak again, her voice was softer. Thoughtful. “ Yeah. Yeah, I know. I d-do know you can. ——- Trust me, th-that sounds good. It d-does. I just… not yet. I can’t, y-yet. “
“why not?” a simple question, but one that demanded an answer all the same. he wanted to know why she wouldn’t just stop – it would be safer. not to mention ky wouldn’t have to worry about her. not really at any-rate. “it’s not like your doing any good like this.”
“ Well, see that’s the nice thing about inhabiting this little mobile home of mine… you can do what you want to it, ‘cause I can just move. So, chop away. As much as your little, dark heart desires. “ El was nothing if not COCKY.Respect? Even to those more powerful than he…? The concept alone was enough to make him l a u g h. “ Better yet, you fuck off. This place? Right here?Mine. “
“you forget that i can lock you in there.” a slow sadistic grin spread across his lips. “ you won’t be able to escape for quite sometime – it will be torture, you stuck in that suit of yours until i decide you have learned your lesson.” ky didn’t enjoy flaunting his position, but there times he enjoyed the power. especially when he wanted to prove something. “so, you’ll either watch your tone or i do believe i’ve found myself a new toy an’ trust me when i say… you’ll be stuck in that suit until the end of days.” if ky had anything to say about it.
Dark, DARK eyes blinked once, twice… before slowly shifting back to the gentle brown they were meant to be. The girl’s head tilted to the side, her gaze raking across him with an expression of very poorly hidden d i s d a i n. “ Okay, shit, I get it… nothing will happen to the suit. I’ll try not to get it broken up. Fine. Take all the f u n out of this, why don’t you? Any OTHER rules I have to follow, d a d ? Gonna set a curfew? No dessert before dinner? Make running around in this little hunter as b o r i n g as you can? “
at the mention of the word ‘dad’, ky moved to grip the girls neck; not tightly, but it was more so as a warning of sorts. a way to prove that he had the power here and that there was no doubts in his mind about what he’d end up doing – if it meant she’d listen to him. “i don’t care what you do – make as many deals as you want, but the girl, and the suit will be returned to me. in one piece or you’ll find yourself so deep in the pit that you’ll never escape, understand?”
“you should care – i could rip you outta that body faster than you could say ‘sorry’.” he should have in all reality. it would have been so much easier, but he couldn’t. not now. at least with a demon in viv she would be relatively safe ( even if he never would say it out loud ). even so… he’d have to set a few ground rules. “so, if i tell you to lay low? you lay low.” a pause. “the girl is mine.” i care too much for her.
A curious glance was spared his way. “ That is fortunate… because I do not feel like fighting with one of your kind, either. “
“oh, i’m hurt,” he replied, tone deeply sarcastic. “see, ‘cause, you think i have a ‘kind’, and well… i don’t. my family may be fallen and demons, but,” his hands slipped into his pockets. “i don’t consider myself like them.” at least for the moment.
“ That’s o-one of the perks of the job. Something t-terrible happens and you don’t have e-enough time to dwell on it… ‘cause y-you’re too busy trying to stop the next terrible thing from h-happening. “
“it’s a reason you need to get out of it.” she could get hurt or worse – she could die. either option was something that ky didn’t want to dwell on too much. a reason to why he moved his right hand under her chin for a few moments. “i can help with that, viv. you know i can.”
“you should be lucky. i’m not in the mood for killing angels today.” at least until he had a few drinks.
every time the other spoke it was like something was grating on his very nerves. it was a wonder ky didn’t throw him into the lowest pits of hell already. though, it was more trouble than it was worth – even for someone like the one in question. “do you want to die? i could make that happen you know.”
it had hadn’t it? he thought staying away was for the best; that he could deal with his own problems. still, he always couldn’t avoid visiting the ones he enjoyed being around – cared for was a bit too much to say. even for him. he cared for no one… not even himself half the time. still, he couldn’t deny he was pleased to see her again. “tell me everything,” he said in the softest tone as he could muster. “i mean it.”
