He did jump a little bit, thanks to his PTSD and not having heard Ky’lar come in. Looking behind him, he paused. “Gotta call you back.” Hanging up, he raised a brow. “Ky’lar, I have killed many people. My parents are assassins – or they were. I assure you, I don’t put anyone on a pedestal. I like to consider myself a realist. And the question wasn’t if you were good for me. Though I think anyone brings both good and bad to the table in such a situation.”
❝ you deserve better. ❞ a simple statement as ky’lar made his way forward,
❝ i’m not worth this…. maybe a very long time ago i was, but i can’t… be what you want. ❞ though, in reality, he wasn’t going to attempt caring again. it was just far too painful for him and it was best if he left it alone,
❝ ……. everyone i’ve ever cared about dies or i push them away. you know that better than anyone. ❞
“I’d venture to guess you have a couple days if you want to get a head start on preparing. They don’t have your location….yet and they’re stupid enough to try and weaponize you.” He smiled wryly. “I’d know.”
his relationship with HYDRA was already complicated enough his family history. there was no doubt that due to this, things would already become far more strained. though, even ky’lar knew that running wouldn’t get him anywhere — not really at least,
❝ they could try, but they won’t get far.❞
Ky’lar had yet to truly scare him – but the Russian also didn’t scare easily. The change in tone and step forward didn’t even make him bat an eyelash. “If you haven’t noticed, I don’t follow orders well.” He raised an eyebrow. “But, consider it dropped. And I usually assume you have a reason for the things you do, as most people don’t tend to do things without any reason involved.”
❝ neither do i, but i know when it’s needed.❞ though, the reality was, ky’lar never wanted to be a soldier in a war —- he just kept getting dragged into everything. a reason to why he wanted to stay as far away from everyone —- it was easier that way to avoid being given an offer he wouldn’t be able to fully refuse,
❝ just like you know it’s easier to move on than face the facts. ❞ at least to ky’lar… it was far easier to avoid everything than face the reality of matters.
He just wordlessly put a thick file down on a nearby table. “You’re on HYDRA’s radar. I figure you can handle it, but intel wouldn’t hurt to have.” Shane turned to leave out of respect for Ky’lar.
❝ ——— damn it. ❞ a deep sigh escaped his lips as he glanced towards the file,
❝ seem’s they finally caught up to me, huh? ❞ not that he cared too much, but still, ky wasn’t in the mood to deal with them —- not today at least,
❝ —— how much time do i have? ❞
“I don’t remember saying it was my concern, Ky’lar. Just responding to the conversation at hand.” He chuckled.
❝ —— and i told you to DROP it. ❞ his tone raised for a few moments as he took a step forward,
❝ i’m not going to repeat it again. ❞ a deep breath was taken in and let out slowly,
❝ you’ll eventually come to understand that whatever i do is for a reason. ❞ of course, he wouldn’t go any further than that due to the fact that ky’lar cared more than he would honestly admit. a reason to why he kept himself guarded…. he couldn’t let anyone see that weakness in him. not even himself.
❝ —— as you can tell, i’m not exactly in the mood to talk, so make it quick. ❞
