well, it was the first time in quite a while anyone had asked him that. or well, anything in-fact. so, it took him quite a while to react, and not just stare as if he’d seen a ghost of some sort. “—yeah, if you’re offering.”
she SHOUTS as her arms hold up the structure above her ; knows full well that her arms can only hold so much. they shake below her ; the situation had already gotten out of hand and she had NO choice but to make a split second decision: to run and free herself, or to stay back and ensure that the other got out safe. whatever bomb had gone off in the building was barely keeping it up, and the inhuman had already been shot in the leg, making running impossible. “ go – i’ll hold it up until you’re gone. please. “
he shouldn’t have gotten attached – not now, not ever. while daisy wasn’t important, there was still some sort of connection there, and a slight trace of sentiment. maybe he was growing soft the more time he spent around others. maybe he was losing his touch. still, he wasn’t going to think of that – not now. not when she was willing to risk her life for him.
he wasn’t worth that much. not years ago, not in the future, and especially not now. she was someone who could do good and it was why he chose to not leave as she wanted him to. instead, he stayed exactly where he was. “i’m not leaving with out you.” he could – he could have left and never turned back, but he was choosing the higher road this time… even if it would hurt in the end.
“ you know – i’m starting to get the impression that you LIKE me. “ she looks him over; ever since they first MET it’s always been a matter of hesitation. while both saw each other as potential allies, they KNEW their morality and their goals didn’t line up. and yet, there seemed to be something under the SURFACE – something suggesting that they could very well be allies. she knew nothing about him, not enough to trust him, but she no longer feared for her life when they crossed paths. maybe foolish of her. “ or, at least, you tolerate me. “
“i wouldn’t call it EITHER of those things.” he didn’t trust her, he didn’t entirely like her, and to say he tolerated her was entirely DEBATABLE on his mood. it was true, he would have ENJOYED working with her, but ky rarely ( if ever ) admitted his true feelings. “let’s just say.. i don’t see any point in causing any PROBLEMS between us.” well, more than the usual, but he felt that was besides the point.
