“good to know you’re a self-proclaimed hot shot?” sometimes she didn’t mean to be rude; it just poured out of her mouth without a second thought. couldn’t really help it when he told her that he was kind of a big deal. “must be nice to get what you want, though. i have no idea what that’s like anymore.”
“give me a day,” he said, arms folding behind is back. “one day and you’ll have whatever you want. no strings attached.” maybe there would be a few strings, but why should that matter? “— think of it as a good gesture.” the only one he’d ever give this year, but good all the same.
“you’re… what?” she wasn’t sure what that meant in the slightest, but she wouldn’t completely discount it. there was something… off about his scent at the very least. something that didn’t quite suggest humanity, but she could confidently say no one had ever talked about princes of hell. “i mean, i would if i were a man that needed an easy way to ensure i got what i wanted.”
“let’s just say… i’m a big deal where i come from.” not really, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t boast. not this time around at least. “and i always get what I want. it just might take more work than others, but all and all… everything comes around the way it needs to.”
“oh? and what makes it so the universe owes you so much?” she was genuinely curious, but also assumed that he had some sort of complex. no different than anyone else, she supposed. “suits and ties are great and all that, but everyone thinks that mystery and danger are what they want in a guy. leather jacket… hell, ride up on a motorcycle and suddenly every girl around will be fanning themselves.”
“because i’m a prince of hell.” not the best explanation as to why, but not the worst either. in his mind, the universe owed him everything, but only due to the fact of his circumstances. “and i should get a new leather jacket, shouldn’t i?”
“i hope you’re not just figuring that out now. people – the majority of them, have this fucked up idea in their head that they are better than everyone else. like the universe OWES them everything they want.” she shook her head. “materialism and appearances. that’s all it’s really about for them.”
“well, i’m one of the few people who can say i am owed many things, and i’ll get them.” one way or another – that much was assured of. “if i showed up in a nice suit and tie people will come, but even more if it’s a leather jacket – no wonder dear o’l dad destroyed a few bars in his time.”
“you should really learn not to underestimate the fathomless size of stupidity people are able to pull off. seriously, society is so incredibly shallow that it is not hard to play any sort of system if you have the right look.”
“humanity is shallow,” he said bluntly. “however, they do turn their noses up at people who don’t conform to their version of normalcy.” he’d been in that situation before; scoffed at and ridiculed. “the right look or otherwise… humanity is weird.”
“see… you wear a leather jacket and pretty much everyone that swings your way will be too distracted by their bad boy fetish to care what you’re up to. humans are simple, for the most part. if one or two people around aren’t charmed you can knock them out of the way no problem.”
“i wear one as it’s comfortable.” among other things… plus the aesthetic didn’t hurt much either in all reality. “if they are so idiotic to sign themselves away due to the look of leather? they are as dumb as expected.” maybe even a bit more honestly.
“people are stupid and only care about appearances, so flattery is your best option. looking halfway decent means that you shouldn’t have any trouble getting what you want out of most people.”
“people may be stupid, but eventually, even wearing nice polished suits get boring. trust me, i wore them for around a year, and by the end of it i was almost craving for the feel of a leather jacket.”
“clearly. that could have been catastrophic. don’t you have any extra charm to pull out of your ass? at least then people aren’t too concerned with what you’re doing.”
“my dear, i have loads of charm.” of course, none of it he could use in this specific situation. “humanity is just weird — complicated even. what works one time won’t work the next.”
“i’m not the most qualified person for this.” a short and to the point statement that hopefully would get the point across.
