“Hey, do I look like I work for free?” Feigning annoyance, he tried his best to sell the lie, hoping that Ky would buy it. If demons emerged in the human world, seeking to do harm, Dante would do his best to intervene, with or without the promise of a monetary reward.
It simply felt proper to do so.

“But since you’re just sittin’ there, why don’tcha make yourself useful and start closin’ those damn gates.” He paused for a moment, then, beginning to smirk. Waiting for the right moment to deliver the punchline. “Or else I’ll show you why I’ve earned my devil hunting reputation.”

“I don’t close gates,” Ky said, not even bothering to spare Dante a second’s glance. If he did now, it would have been more of a scowl or even glare – still, it wasn’t like he could do much. Even if he did… there was doubt it would actually turn out half-way decently.

“If you want them closed,” a pause as he sucked in a deep breath and let it out slowly. “you can do them yourself -you may have earned a reputation, but i’m not in the mood to make anyone down there more pissed off.” a least more than they were already. ”not today, dante. not today.”

“Been seein’ a rise in demonic activity around these parts lately. Don’t suppose that’s been your doing?”

“i may have left a few gates open,” he said, leaning his head back in the chair. “though, i doubt this is my fault – shouldn’t you be out there cleaning up the mess?” not that ky expected dante to actually do anything, but it was the thought that counted, wasn’t it? “that’s what you’re good for.”

Inclined to bow to lesser compulsions himself, this particular arena of combat had always tended to draw the worst out of those that passed into its embrace.  Dante remained static for as long as the other half-breed took to shedding any covers of a human disguise, which thankfully didn’t take more than a few moments to complete.

Already in motion, Dante’s fang filled jaws open further apart, a piercing growl slipping into the air as runs, then leaps, his form a blur of red scales and bristling strength as he lunges at Ky, tackling him to the ground. Pleased to have done so, the transformed slayer chatters in a series of fluctuating tones, creating a tempo that he times his strikes to as he slashes at the other’s dark face, his arms, his neck. All popular places for the accomplished killer to strike – and bring swift end to this scuffle, should fortune guide his malevolent hand to victory here this day.

all emotions besides the need to kill were eliminated from his mind. it was a simple fact to know one’s self in this form was the best. of course, for ky, he hated it with every fiber of his being. he hated having less control than he did usually and now? all he saw was red and that unending need to slaughter anything or anyone in his path.

furthermore, a low hiss escaped his lips as he was tackled; expected. even more so when ky wasn’t the intentional aggressor. dante made the first – and bold – move. a reason to why ky had to make one better.

the only problem was that he was forced into the defensive mode. while his hide may have been thick – he wasn’t indestructible. a few more precise blows and this little spat of theirs would find a quick ( and quite bloody ) end.

moving his arms up to protect his neck was easy; his arms taking the blunt of the blows ( due to the bloody fact that was what was protecting him ). still, the moment he saw an opening ( even if very slight ) he decided to take it

kicking forward with his legs and trading defense into offense as he moved to claw his way forward; anything to get on top of this fight. anything to prove that he was the one that could win this. after-all, all his time in hell had proven is that the demon who was on top ruled. that was what ky ( and his demonic half ) wanted after-all… to ensure their dominance. no matter the price

Yellow eyes narrow on a face that is nearly constantly smiling, at least when he was like this. When he tapped into his own demonic power and let himself transform, his subsequent appearance dictated by the devil arm he was using at the time. In this case, Cerberus was the flavour of the month, the nunchaku stowed away in favour of claws and fangs as he stood hunched forward.

Primed and ready to tear the man before him apart.

man; such an easy way to classify him at times. he chose to look human as it was easier. revealing his true form was… complicated. not everyone could fully understand it – even less were comfortable with him being in it. a simple twist in fate that the longer he stayed in it… the longer he felt less than what he was.

funnily enough, he didn’t have a choice in the matter; this time, he wasn’t going to allow his humanity to hold him back – as it always did. no, what better way to shed it than for him? there was no need for it anyways. not when it was quite clear every fiber in his body full out urged — no more so d e m a n d e d that he change.

and so he did; human form fading to one more of darkness. hands in exchange for claws and teeth as sharp as any-blade. true, he always fought this form, but for now? now, he didn’t care about that… ripping the other apart would be the only thing on his mind.

“I could leave,” he agrees, siding with Ky on this one issue. He was far and away from the office, in a region of the world he hadn’t travelled to before now, but didn’t seem to mind. “But where could I go? It’s your fault we’re stuck out here in the sticks. So unless you can crack open another hellgate, I ain’t goin’ anywhere fast, pal.”

“it’s your fault you followed me,” he said, trying to point out the obvious. “even if i wanted to… it’s not that easy.” though, the reality of the situation was that ky didn’t feel like using any trace amounts of power to get the other to leave. that would have meant he cared and right now? he didn’t. a reason to why he was willing to put up with the annoyance… at least until he felt more motivated. “even for me.”

“Nah, I think I’ll stay right here. Annoyin’ ya is kinda fun, compared to hunting down other demons.”

“— fun?” ky couldn’t resist the roll of his eyes. “i think of it as you getting on my nerves.” not to mention ky would have loved to be a lone, but here he was… having to put up with dante.  “among other things… you should leave.”
