“that why you’re bothering me at work?” She looked up a small smile on her lips, “Pretty sure I heard that somewhere too, it’s all a matter of perspective. I got a shit ton of power, but here I am wasting it to play pretend.” With a careless shrug, she closed her laptop, “Hows the getting more power thing working for you?”
He snorted. “I was in the area – I thought i’d drop by and playing pretend is overrated.” Not that Ky could talk, he spent more time around humans than he’d like, but at least they didn’t bicker constantly about infernal pissing contests. Well, not all the time at least. “— And perfectly fine. No problems at all.”
“i’ve gone two hole months with-out killing anyone. i think i deserve a prize.” Maybe it wasn’t as big of feet as he let on – he didn’t kill anyone. That didn’t mean he didn’t do other things, but it was a step in the right direction at least. “ —–don’t you think??”
“do remember who you’re speaking to,” he said sharply. “lest, you might find yourself missing something very important.”
“I once heard the saying ‘with great power comes great responsibility’,” he said, even changing his tone of voice to fit the act. “However, I consider it horse shit. With great power comes… greater power.”
Nita snorted and crossed her arms over her chest. “Just for that, I’m going to make it a point to go out of my way to bother you.” Nita moved forward and gave Ky a cocky smile.
“do you want me to rip you apart?” he asked, “i could do that if you wished, but i doubt you’d enjoy it.” he’d possibly do it anyways – if he could actually get away with it. “your kind never does.”
Nita threw Ky an exasperated look, her lips curled into a bitter smile “I know better than most what life is like” she muttered looking away. Nita pulled out her cigarette box, tapping her fingers against the metal.
“then you know there is no escaping what you are.” or rather, what you’re meant to be, but he couldn’t admit that. not now.. not ever. “eventually,” he said, “there will come a time everything falls into place, but truth be told? life is shit.”
Nita rolled her eyes, inspecting her fingernails idly. “I’m only passing on the message,” Nita drawled out slowly “don’t know why they’re passing the message through me, I ain’t on either side and I don’t recall threatening you.”
“a message you could have left alone.” he rolled his eyes. “don’t you have anything better to do? i have to plan avoiding my family for the next… six months. It would be nice if you could avoid me as well.”
“an’ you know i don’t take threats well,” he said bluntly, hands slipping into his back pockets. “i’m going through with this deal an’ i can assure you… the chances of anyone stopping me is minimal at best.”
