“Or we could, y’know, just kill them all. We can rebuild from the start. Or just kill all of his supports— what’s a king without his subjects?”
“Killing them all could work, but we’d have to be careful about it. Too many demons going missing at once and well.” Someone would attempt to investigate and then they could potentially leak it back to that false king. “— it could work.”
“And? What if we just take out the weakest link first?”
She knew that Crowley had either forced the more powerful demons into submission, killed them, or forced them into exile much like her. This gave her a pretty good idea of how easy taking out his remaining cronies would be. He didn’t care as much about the power, only mainly about those who were loyal to him. Those who were weak, and lick his shoes if he asked them to. However, they only followed the most powerful, so if Meg did show herself to be more powerful than their so-called king, they would be all over her.
“Or, just show ‘em who’s boss.”
There was an old saying that a leader or even organization was only as strong as it’s weakest member or link as you will. Finding the weakest wouldn’t be too hard, but making sure they were not swarmed was another. Ky may have had power, but he wasn’t going to risk everything when the odds of winning were decently low.
However, a show of power was another thing. Crowley may have had a cult-like following, but even he (he hoped) could appreciate shows like this. With enough pressure and demons gone… maybe he’d come out into the open – it wouldn’t be easy, but if he was alone? Well, maybe they’d have a true chance… maybe.
“We could do both; take out the weakest link and then… put them back in line. If that doesn’t work? Just kill them all.”
“Oh please. They’re weak, and pretty shit at tracking people down. I could snap their necks with a snap of my fingers if I wanted to. If we get him now while he’s weak, Hell could go back to how it’s supposed to be—- and under its rightful queen.”
There was a roll of his eyes. “Suit yourself, but I doubt Hell will ever get back to normal.” Not anytime soon at least. While he truly wanted the job, even Ky knew he wasn’t ready for such a task. He didn’t know if he ever would be, but he’d get around to it eventually. “Even if most demons are weak.. enough of them can become a threat.”
“Well, how about you do that on your own time, ‘kay? I’m not looking to be involved in some big shit-show like that when I’ve got a price hanging over my head.”
“We all have a price on our heads,” he said bluntly. “It’s not a show – more of an act.” Of sorts. “You’re already involved…. just by speaking with me.”
“Well, I’ll give you a hint about a majority of them. All they need is a leader, some powerful looking figure that can lead them like sheep. There’s only a handful of demons with actual opinions and ideas, like me.”
“They need a leader as they are simply meant take commands and follow orders.” A roll of his eyes – it felt like he’d been through this conversation several times before. For that exact matter… he sighed. “It doesn’t matter who leads them; most demons -even with brains- don’t think that far ahead.” He then snorted. “ Then we find ourselves in this pitiful situation. An idiot on the throne and then… just us.”
“Exactly. Keeping your head down and letting him walk all over you is pretty much what he wants. Don’t give it to him. He needs to go.”
“You can keep your head down and prevent him from walking over you,” he said bluntly. “i want to keep my head and not have a horde of angry demons at my doorstep.”
“Pretty much.”
The demoness nodded, crossing her arms over her chest. In fact, Crowley was merely a child compared to her even in age, she had been created decades before he was even a thought. However, she liked to say she aged much better than he ever could. All she wanted was him gone and for herself t take the throne, so she could finally put hell back in it’s rightful order. She wasn’t sure how long she could take watching it being flipped upsidedown, and she refused to watch him do anymore of that to it.
“Obviously, but most of them are weak. They’re nothing without him, they’re just there for show. Trust me on that one.”
“Even for show, large numbers could potentially be dangerous.”
That much was a fact; one rabid animal was one thing, but an entire group of them? That was another completely. Weak or otherwise, when they bunched together, they could quite possibly be a force, but that was only if they truly knew how to work together.
In most instances, they didn’t – not really. It wasn’t in their nature to formulate plans. The most they could do was swam and even then it was unlikely that anything would truly happen. Most demons – especially one’s for show – didn’t know how to truly fight well. They just attacked.
“It just matters on how they are taken care of and not when.”
“Yeah— I don’t do suits, either. Anybody would be better than him, but I was next in line for the throne. He took that from me, so I’ll take his life from him— and the throne, while I’m at it.”
“I doubt many would like that sudden change of leadership.” Then again, he wouldn’t entirely mind it; anything was better than how things were now. Though, he would like something of his own after this… even if he doubted he’d ever truly be ready for it. “Then again, I don’t know the minds of demons. Not really at least… there is a reason I chose to avoid being down there.”
“Just don’t bring attention to yourself— that’s your best bet. It usually works pretty well for me.”
“Well, I try not to have too much attention on me, but I never really can say no to taking on a whole town once in a while.” Or, in his case, ever.
“Let me guess, it’s something super illegal?”
“Slightly illegal,” he corrected. “In just a few countries.”
