“Reward or not, Lucifer is better than Crowley. He has no idea what the hell he’s doing, and making Hell look like a joke. Making his cronies where suits instead of leather— he wouldn’t know Hell if it slapped him in the face.”
“I tried wearing a suit, but it wasn’t comfortable.” A simple fact he thought needed to be said, but all the same, he knew what she meant. Hell always changed, but somethings stayed the same. There was structure to the chaos – something that Crowley never seemed to grasp. Not even now that he had the throne. “Then again, a corn chip would be better than him.”
“At this point, I could care less about thanks. Just incase you haven’t noticed, you’re not the only one here that’s not exactly Hell’s favorite demon right now. But I don’t give up without a fight, and Crowley will pay his dues a lot sooner with me in charge.”
“Everyone pays their dues eventually. I just want to keep that time as far away as possible.” Or, in his case, never having to pay them, but that was besides the point. “If I keep my head down, I don’t have much of a target on me, but…. you’re right.” even if it pained him to admit that little fact. “Among other things… Crowley has to go.”
“That serious, huh? Let me take a wild guess— he owes you money?”
“i like to think of it as… i’m willing to make a bargain. nothing more an’ nothing less.”
“Exactly.”
Meg had never liked Crowley, even before he was king. He was alwas a scumbag conman, and you could never trust a word coming out of his mouth. He always thought he was so much above her, all because he was king of the crossroads. He chose to forget that she exceled in everything, unlike him. And to top that, she had never been human. Besides, making deals did nothing but irritate her. Although, she normally exceled at those as well. The demoness let out a small huff of laughter, just thinking about how much of a self-absorbed pig Crowley was.
“That pig knows next to nothing about being a demon. He’s just got a sweet little vendetta against, me because I’ve always been better than him. Apparently taking my rightful throne wasn’t enough for him.”
“sounds like typical childish behavior.” ironic since ky was considered a child to most, but that wasn’t here nor there. no, even ky wasn’t blind to what had been going on. it was like the moment the parents were gone the children fucked up the house.
what ky wanted was influence and of course, getting rid of his father. maybe then he could have some peace. it wouldn’t be much, but maybe he’d actually be able to think properly for once. the only problem was getting to that point. it wouldn’t be easy nor would it take a short amount of time, but maybe… just maybe he’d get what he wanted. “now, there are several flocking to him, but only due to the fact he’s the closest they have to a leader.”
Ky basically spoke the truth on that one, since she really couldn’t help him with this little problem of his. She had herself to look out for, she couldn’t distract herself with the meaningless tasks that other people had. She had to go back to being a stone-cold, fight for yourself and no one else demon. Meg gave a shrug, as if she actually felt sorry. Did she really? Probably not.
“Yeah —- tough luck. Besides, I wouldn‘t trust too any of the demons in this day and age, unless the pig of a king we have takes a liking to you.”
“he’s not the true king.” such simple words; one’s that would get him killed in most places. still he had too much value ( in his mind ) to be slaughtered right off the bat. ky still had a right to that damnable throne, but wasn’t going to take it unless there was good reason to. crowley could have the chair, but eventually. he’d lose it, and that was when ky would use whatever power came with-it to end that shit-nosed so called ‘king’ once and for all.
“ an’ demons are always tricky. they just follow power – right now, that’s him, but soon enough? it will be someone. someone much more powerful than some shit-stain red eyed demon.”
“Exactly. But I sure can take a message. He doesn’t come home till late.”
“you could, but i don’t think it’s necessary.” not really at any-rate. “i’ll handle the matter personally.” a pause. “another time, perhaps?”
The demoness shook her head slowly, crossing her arms over her chest as she cocked a hip. A big name, so big he had to have someone else do it? Yeah, she couldn’t afford that one. At least not right now, with a good number of people on her back, one including the current king of Hell. She didn’t need anymore negative spotlight. With a sneer, she gave her decision.
“Yeah— about that. You’re talking to the wrong demon. I’ve got enough people on my back for a very, very long list of reasons. I don’t need another.”
“an’ i don’t need dear ol’ dad breathing down my neck.” of course, he could deal with his father on his own terms. killing him via a third party just seemed to be an easier route. less messy and he wouldn’t have to deal with time in chains. so, in his mind? it wouldn’t be on his head, but if she wasn’t going to do it? well, fine – he’d find someone else to tackle the job. preferably someone far more disposable.
“so, we’re both in shit creak.” at least in his mind, but all the same… ky wasn’t going to elaborate more on it. no, he said his piece, and now? he’d deal with came after the fact.
A very big name in Hell? Now, that would take a lot of thinking for her. Should she risk her wellbeing for whatever she got in return, or not? However, she did normally like her pay first, for security reasons. If she knew one thing about her kind, it was to never trust them about deals. They lied, a lot. Not only that, but they were taught how to make even the worst deal sound good. Now, this one just sounded too good to be true.
“A very big name? I don’t know about that one. Oh— and I only take my payment before the job. I know how our kind works.”
“ only too well. ” an understatement if he was being honest. he knew exactly how their kind worked; any deal could be made with enough motivation. luckily for him, he didn’t care much about labels these days, and considered himself above most demons. though, not enough so he wouldn’t associate with them, but enough that he could ultimately hold a sense d o m i n a n c e over them ( if needed ).
“however, this is a delicate matter.” more so he couldn’t have anything traced back to him; that would be…bad. really bad. “you can see why i need some discretion.” at least in some parts. “among other things”
The demoness’s smirk faltered slightly, she knew just enough about him to know who his father was. Blackheart, a sort of big player in Hell. Now, that was something that was way above her paygrade. Killing big names wasn’t on her to-do list at the moment, bringing more attention to herself wasn’t what she needed.
However, she twirled her blade in her hand as she rose an eyebrow, looking at him skeptically. Might as well ask for what she would be paid for doing such a deed, if she even decided to do it. Though, she was sure even pay wouldn’t change her mind on this one. She wasn’t n the mood to get higher up on the wanted list, being already quite high up on it.
“Now, that’s a toughy. A big name in Hell, right? And what would I be getting in return if I did decide to go for it?”
a big name in hell was one way of putting it; the best out of all the options. it could be bad for everyone involved if things were traced back to ky. not to mention that he wasn’t in the mood to deal with the aftermath of a failed attempt to end the other.
no, if he was going to pull this off, he wanted to do it right, and make sure that nothing was attached to him. ky’lar was going to play it smart and that meant he had to be careful. extremely careful.
“very big.”
maybe a little out of anyone’s range, but there was a very real chance that if the right set of circumstances happened? everything could turn out right and ky would have one less… obstacle to remove.
“and you would receive whatever it is your heart desires.” a pause. “if you survive.”
“When you have a price over your head, things change.”
The demoness was never much for helping people to begin with, but she really didn’t feel like getting herself into trouble with more people. She had enough to worry about, after all. However, she would listen. Then decide whether she felt like helping or not. She crossed her arms over her chest, cocking a hip to the side.
“Give me a name and I’ll consider it.”
while her words were quite true, he honestly doubted that she would do anything; with a price on someone’s head, things were different, and putting their neck out on the line for someone else could complicate matters. a reason to why there was part of him that didn’t want to say anything else.
that way, he wouldn’t inconvenience her any more that was needed, and maybe he could find a way to fix this situation himself. it was doubtful, but all the same, he already could tell that no matter what he said, he wouldn’t get closer toward his goal —- at least quickly.
❝ it’s a bit more complicated than that. ❞
he bit his lower lip for a few moments : just long enough to strike blood as he moved to speak again.
