a scoff escaped his lips. of course she wouldn’t answer his question honestly. if she did, there would no doubt be anger depending on the answer, and that in itself was dangerous. if he lost control of his temper, there would no doubt be several people killed in his rage. a reason to why keeping his cool was needed – especially now.
‘—- yeah, give me another.’ he didn’t want to end things there, but with a sigh, he did. that way, maybe drinking down the rest of the alcohol in the place would sooth his nerves or something like that.
“i’m the son of blackheart, not a blasted miracle worker.” while he may have had a fraction of his father’s own power, there was still much he couldn’t do. more to the point, as much as he tried… there was always push back. be it from his own family or even himself.
❛ got somethin’ to fuckin’ say, or just enjoyin’ the view?❜ tactful, she is not, and the harsh bite to the words scream danger if he answers the wrong way. anne takes a long drink from the stein in her hand — eyes on him all the while. ❛ —out with it, then. ❜
❛ i’ve seen better. ❜ a simple statement, nothing more, and nothing less. if he really was enjoying the view, he would have made sure his presence wasn’t known, and stayed out of sight. ❛ much better in fact. just not here… not now. ❜
he thought that his mother already knew about what he had just done. sure, he shouldn’t have been actively trying to spark the attention of hunters or even angels, but there he was. more to the point, in his actions resulted in far more than a few angels, hunters, and anything in between wanting him dead. at least.. for what he had been trying to do.
since she hadn’t found out about it yet, that gave him a certain opportunity to fix the situation, and place the blame on someone else. after-all, he was supposed to be keeping out of trouble, but then again…. he never could resist the temptation after a while. ‘it’s nothing.’ a lie, it was more than simply nothing, but…that wasn’t the point, ‘ really. nothing at all.’ just the end of the world.
it’s the same threat he’s heard a thousand times before that it barely fazes him now, only responding to it with a roll of his eyes. either being sent to Hell or the pits are his options and at this point he’s starting to not care anymore. his head shakes and he looks back down at the drink in his hands. “I don’t fear anything.” not really. he’s survived the worst so far and he can’t die so he knew he could do it again. “do whatever the fuck you want, I’m done bargaining for freedom I’m never going to get.”
at lest caleb was starting to get the point. freedom was an illusion and once the demon got their hands into anything – or thing,… they would never truly be free. “you don’t deserve it.” rather he didn’t believe caleb would or ever would if he was being honest, but he knew that was already known, “so, keep acting up, and you’ll find yourself in the darkest pits of hell.”
“Were we?” Nathan asked, turning towards him. “Because if I’m honest, this whole damn time it feels like I’ve had to be doing everything with an arm tied behind my back.” He stated. “Sure, this was supposed to be simple, nothing ever is, but it’d be a lot better if you weren’t keeping so many damn secrets.”
“it also would be better if you did your job,” he said bluntly, “i don’t need to explain everything.” rather, he didn’t feel like he had to. after-all, in his mind wasn’t exactly important to disclose everything, “if it helps? i may have pissed off a few powerful people… that’s all.”
“i know what i’m doing.” he left off the word ‘mostly’ due to the fact he didn’t think it was necessary, “i just need patience.”
Eddie chuckled, shaking her head rapidly and then quickly regretting it, clasping her hands on either side of her head as if to hold it still. She giggled at her obviously bad reaction to her own actions as she kicked her feet like a child.
“Awww, that wounds awful! Not being able to get drunk. Granted IIIIIIIIII don’t particularlccly like it. The world spins and I don’t think that’s a good thing.”
She said with a frown as she stared at the floor, the world shifting dramatically. Eddie huffed and leaned against the wall as she picked up another of the bottles, wondering if maybe she drunk more it would suppress her feelings more.
“I have a question. Well, I have several, but I’m terrified of you so I never ask, I just haaaaaappen to be drunk enough to ask aaaaanyways. Do you pick your vessels cause they’re hot? Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike is that a thing that you do to be a thing?”
Following his suggestion, she took a big drink of from the bottle and then laid down on the floor, staring at the ceiling as she waited for his answer. She had asked to go home. She wanted to be home. To be near her parents, no matter how much they feared and detested her. She still loved them. She wanted them to love her back. They told her it was best to keep away. That she didn’t need see them. Her parents. Her only family. And thus, Eddie drank almost a whole case of these….fruity things and would probably end up getting killed by the demon she seemed to have befriended for being annoying. Though on the upside, her parents would probably appreciate no longer having to deal with her.
“i don’t pick my vessels.” honestly, that was a half-truth, and half lie. he just enjoyed a few of them. well, some more than other’s, but that was besides the point. looks were not exactly important, but he needed to be in one where he could blend in easily.
sometimes, that was easier than others, but all the same, he doubted that she would truly understand. a body, was just a body, but he did get attached to some of them. it was just what happened when he got comfortable, but at the same time… it was dangerous.
a lesson, that he was slowly learning in all reality. to not get attached to things he had no control over.
“ I simply take what i need.” it might not have answered her question decently, but he was at least being honest.
“i don’t have time for this.” it was like scratching out his eyes sometimes with stiles — a reason to why he was simply stating his version of the facts as quickly as possible, “just…. do it.”
a simple question that ky thought would suffice for the time being. true, he was a little off his game here, but all the same…he thought he would at least ask. maybe then he could get more information and do…something with it. truth be told, he hadn’t really thought that far ahead this time around.
