“My mother was an angel. She was killed for having me. Must be nice having someone look out for you.” It wasn’t the full story, but it was as close to the truth as Griffin could get. She wasn’t killed for having a nephilim child. She was killed for protecting nephilim, and having TWO children with a nephilim, when her orders had been to kill them. She had betrayed her brothers and sisters. That crime couldn’t go unpunished. “So I’m guessing there weren’t many pool parties then?”

❝ I wouldn’t exactly call it NICE. Until I was ‘round twenty or so, I didn’t even know ‘bout anything, an’ then I started looking into shit. So, as the story goes? I found a Pandora’s box of information. ❞ There was more to it of course, far more than Ky’lar was willing to admit, but that was besides the point,

❝ Some when I was younger — thought I was human, but then again, you spend a few hundred years being punished for existing, an’ you learn a few things.  ❞

Now then which bedtime story would the little demon want? There was no retaliation over the nickname which was… unusual. Usually, demon’s didn’t like being downgraded to a childish name and treated like one but then again those were the idiot demons who postured and ended up dead before they can blink. No… This demon knew how to play along. It’s perfect since he wouldn’t tolerate any form of disrespect from his previous subjects, ❝Would you like to hear about heaven? There are many misconceptions about it. Or would you like to know how I ended up ruling over the damned realm? Honestly, people believe I’m a trickster but they don’t know it’s a…. observed behavior.

There was no retaliation of the name due to the fact that the Demon knew better than to question it. To  many, he was still a child —- even more so than human children, but all the same, there was a time to SPEAK, and a time to keep silent. This was one of the few times he chose silence —- if only to keep himself in one piece,

❝ Whatever you would like to tell. ❞ Heaven would have been his preferred story, but he was  open to anything that would get him out of this slightly UNCOMFORTABLE situation.

❛   so you’re a murderer. doesn’t surprise me with the whole creep factor you’ve got going on.     ———–    what, are you planning on killing more, then? is that why you’re reaching out to me? ❜

image

❛ i’m far more than that, but let’s just say if you look into a few things, you’ll get a story for the ages. ‘course, if you don’t? it will pop up eventually —– just have to wait and see how things turn out. ❜ his lips pursed into a thin-line,

❛ for everyone. ❜

Pain was nothing knew to him. Once he had been a commander of a vampire army and fought in countless battles against the foes of his grandfather and Council of his people; he was their puppet, their good little soldier, their loyal servant. Pain was constant – death always lingered and yet he survived every single time. He was hailed as his home’s greatest warrior – funny, how they mistreated him so severely after his ‘fall from grace’. Any time he thought back to that moment, when he was branded as a traitor, the scar on the left side of his body (literally the word ‘traitor’ in Italian was branded onto his skin) itched and burned, just like the moment the hot iron was pressed against him. It was all in his head, a phantom sensation, and yet it felt so real.

There was no doubts, however, that the pain he was currently feeling was real though. Every time the other tapped on the weapon buried in his chest, the vibrations and even the slightest of shifts shot through and viciously bit his nerves, causing him to unwillingly flinch and release a strained groan from his tightly closed mouth. His eyes fluttered shut a moment, the vampire attempting to completely ignore the stinging by focusing on his breathing – something he did not need to do but now came naturally to him with all the effort and training he’s put in to over the last seven decades trying to perfect it so he would look normal to humans. When his lids opened again, dark brown hues glowed a deep shade of crimson red. It wasn’t out of anger or threat as it normally would be, the vampire decided it was best to tread cautiously now given the other’s own threat.

“The words you speak, it seems to me as though you have an…unresolved issue with the fate of death.” The vampire’s head cocked to the side a little and his eyes narrowed at his assailant. “I’m curious, are those words suppose to be directed towards me? Or is this a confession from somber thoughts and experience?” A pause. “Are you preaching to me, friend?” So much for treading lightly – but then again, the vampire argued that if he downplayed or even lied about anything and the other knew it, then punishment would be inflicted nonetheless. Ethan didn’t really see any way he was getting out of this unscathed, so why not be honest

“Pray tell, just how is this suppose to ‘work out’? What is it that you want from me – a stranger?”

image

“If you were simply a stranger, I would have no use for you, but as it stands, you’re far more than simply that.” His right hand moved to rub at his chin for a few moments, “Death can be cheated —- given enough time, you can outlive it, and eventually embrace it with open arms. However, that’s not why i’m here.”

A slight grin pulled at the demon’s lips for a few moments, “I need someone who can help me with a project —- you won’t be paid and you might not even live through it. However, I do believe someone like you will suffice.” Even if he didn’t, there was a major chance that Ky’lar wouldn’t be able to test his theories again, but it was a chance he had to take… especially now.

“If you wish, I could kill you right now, but no, I don’t think i’ll waste someone like you. Far too much to offer me, don’t you think?”

❝ i ain’t never had time for bullshit, now you gonna tell me what’s really goin’ on? ❞

❝ You mean the part where I have hellhounds wanting to take a nice juicy bite out of me or the part where i’m not exactly human? ❞ His hands slipped into the pockets of his jacket,  ❝ That’s what’s going on. ❞

The words im not stupid have Nero laughing, loudly and mockingly as he eyes the other. He knew that the other was ‘defending’ himself and it amused the hound to no end. He didn’t care how mocking he sounded nor did he care how much offense it caused, all he cared about was pissing the other of. Provoking him. It wasn’t so much as killing the one who killed his brother anymore – now he simply just wanted to piss him off for the fun of it.

The others death wish all but bled out, as a hound it was easy to sense death and for Nero who had once craved it for so long it wasn’t hard for him to note it. It was why he’d drug it up, played with it like a new found toy as he eyes the demon. Amusement all but dripping off him as he shakes his head. “Sure ya do – is that you’re excuse when you finally die or is it the slogan for your headstone. I knew what i was doing”

image

His excuse for when he finally did manage to die would be nothing. As far as Ky’lar was concerned, it didn’t matter if he lived or otherwise —- maybe a long time ago it would have, but now, it didn’t. Not when it was quite clear that the longer he stayed, the more problems would arise, and dying was the only option he had.

Well, not the only option —- just the only one that the Demon was willing to personally take, “I highly doubt anyone will care enough for me to even make one.” Now, that was the understatement of the century, “If anything, it will say I was a mistake, and nothing more.”
