“ then i don’t know WHY you’re acting like it’s a COMPLIMENT, ” said with venom upon the lips as arms cross over a soft shoulder. “ it’s not. i think it’s SICKENING. ”
it might not have been a compliment in all reality, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t take it that way, ❝ being a liar isn’t the worst of things i’ve been called before. ‘cause, take as you will, but that’s one of the few decent things i’ve ever been called. well, ‘sides bastard. ❞
‘ You fail to S E E ? ? ? ‘
Tongue licks lips ——–
‘ That’s a building… With P E O P L E in it. ‘
❛ a building with HUMANS in it. ❜
the correction was done more out of SPITE than the actual need for clarification.
❛ i FAIL to see how that would INTEREST me ❜
“— well that last one is an … interesting way to become a bartender.”
❝ oh, i have to agree, it’s the one of the more interesting ways, but i rather order drinks than make them myself.❞
no one truly spoke asshole, but it wasn’t the worst thing he had ever been called. by far, it was one of the easier names, and to that regard, a deep sigh escaped his lips,
❝ neither do i an’ i’m tellin’ ya the facts. nothin’ more. ❞
“ obviously not . i’m disappointed , not stupid . ” after all , it was only wishful thinking for her to assume he’d only show his face when his presence was desired . at his following remark , she can’t help but let out a dry laugh . “ yes , actually . but what kind of person would i be if i left a demon unattended ? free to wreak havoc ? ”
❝ you JUDGE my kind based on SUPERSTITION, but have you really LOOKED to yourself and saw BETTER? ❞ he shot back the REMARK with more ANNOYANCE than intended, but all the same, there was no doubt in his mind that the answer was ‘no’,
❝ now, i’ll do WHATEVER i want, and you should STAY out of my BLOODY way. ❞
He couldn’t shake the felling the other fella was around still. His back was turned, arms draped over the edge of the truck bed as he worked on pulling a few items out of it. If he wasn’t going to actually change the oil, he might as well look like he was gonna do it. Loitering in general looked suspicious enough as it was. Keep your head down, keep quiet, and keep going. He was hoping this would just blow over. Firearms and gas stations were never on his high list of favorite situations.
Adam didn’t flinch as the other spoke. He looked over his shoulder and tried not to wear the most expression he could muster. His hand wrapped around one of the oil containers he had brought for the trip. The image of smacking the guy in the head with it sprang to mind…too sloppy though. He tossed the item back and forth slowly between his hands. “I got a minute. What ya need?”
ironically, there were many things he needed, but none of them were here nor there. if he was being honest with himself, maybe ky’lar should have kept himself far away —- took a distraction of a deal rather than coming here. as it stood, every fiber of his being was telling him that something was wrong; it could have just been off, but he couldn’t place his finger on it.
not truly at any rate as the demon took in a controlled breath and let it out slowly,
❝ i’m lookin’ for someone. ❞ he slipped easily back into his accent: not out of necessity, but it was easier to do so when he got uncomfortable or didn’t know everything about the situation,
“That’s it? Just swing by, maybe bring a housewarming gift to share? Popping by for a little visit?” He snorts in disbelief.
❝ correct, in ten years, i’ll simply come by, see how you’re doing, and our business will be concluded. ❞ there was more, always was when deals were concerned, but this way was far easier than letting the man know about what would come to him otherwise,
“You want something in return, that’s what a deal means. And no matter what you want I’ll do it…” Joseph wouldn’t have done this normally, but with what’s happened the past year he needed something good in his life. “I want my best friend back.”
the demon DOUBTED the other would willingly give him what he wanted, but he had been wrong before. most demons WANTED souls; a one way ticket to becoming a demon eventually down the line. yet, sometimes a simple favor was sometimes worth far more than a simple SOUL, ❝ —– and what if he doesn’t WANT to come back? ❞ it wasn’t saying he wouldn’t, but instead, ky’lar was simply trying to amuse himself as he made his way forward,
❝ either way, i’ll do it. i just need to make a stop by in let’s say TEN years? ❞
whether he belonged in the cage or not wasn’t the ISSUE here; it was that the demon didn’t just want to be out of it, but it was that he NEEDED to be. for one, ISOLATION never suited the demon. nor, did being restrained inside of a CAGE.
he should have KNOWN better than to ask marrick for some form of assistance ( a reminder he wouldn’t soon forget ),
❛ where i BELONG is far away from here, but LEAVE me like this, and i can assure you that you’ll NOT live to regret it.❜
