the second she knew he was near, she’d been moving to get away as fast as possible. she couldn’t know for sure what powers she had now ( she couldn’t remember whatever powers deo had mentioned, or if he’d mentioned the specifics at all ), she couldn’t know what sort of new damage she could do to ky’lar at this point.
she was supposed to ask mephistopheles if he’d ground his grandson, but she’d never gotten the chance to before she died.
“i don’t need more trouble from you. not now.” // @hellfirebound♡ ‘d
“i don’t think you have thatprivilegeanymore, jan.”
he should have toned down his hubris and his snark. he should have voiced that slight amount of concern and worry that he always ignored. it was easier in his mind to feed the fire that was his anger and rage. to feed it to the point where everything around him became hollow and numb.
to stop feeling the emotions that he couldn’t let creep back into his life. not not now. not after he was just trying to pull himself together the right away – to move away from caring about anyone besides himself.
“ i just came to see if the rumor i heard was true.”
she had to remember that he was probably just trying to push her buttons, but the problem was– it was working. he also seemed to be letting his own temper get to him like before, but she wasn’t about to let herself be subjected to the same treatment as before. not again. she wasn’t going to cry, though, she was still going to stand her ground and keep her nails digging into her palms as she made a solid attempt to control her breathing.
“you were sent back for a reason. whatever you had to do to get out isn’t my problem.”
‘you don’t even care’
———- well, that hit a nerve.
“don’t. do not even GO THERE. the only thing i deemed not worth it anymore was the shitty way i was treated in the end. how you couldn’t control your own fucking temper and slammed me against walls with all the other toxic parts of everything. i did what i had to in order to PROTECT myself. you HAD a choice! you always had a choice in how you acted, and you know that!”
it wasn’t her problem. it never was her problem. that was what separated him from everyone else. no one cared – the people that did he pushed away or they just stopped caring. not that it mattered anyways, he was better off alone, and away from everyone.
“the only choice i see is the one you made.” at one point in time he would have wanted an actual life away from everything, but not anymore. someone like him didn’t get to have a decent ending. even if he fought for it.
“the only reason i wasn’t put on the rack was due to the fact of my father.” then again, it was also what he had done to make a name for himself. not that it mattered now, he wasn’t going back, and doubted that next time even dropping a few names would get him out of there intact.
“i’m not going back. not now, not a year from now, and not ten years from now.” if he went back, it would be on his own terms to possibly visit faust, or someone else he knew down there, but not by being sent back. he wasn’t like the rest of the slime down there. he was better than them.
“that’s none of your business whether i have or not.” she only had so many options she could use in order to avoid the question and not try anything– which meant she had to dig her nails into her palms as hard as possible to keep herself grounded. she wasn’t about to give him the satisfaction.
her nose twitched as her jaw clenched, finally speaking up again through clenched teeth. “you know damn well i haven’t been your girl for almost a year now. you also know that if you try anything to mess this up for me, i’ll send you right back to hell again. or get meph. whichever comes first.”
while it may have been the truth, ky didn’t really believe a word of it, and there was doubt he ever would, true, she wasn’t his girl anymore, but in his mind… she always would be. it was something he was still trying to work around as he took another step towards her, “i’m not going back to hell. do you even know what i had to do to get out of there the last time?” not that it mattered. he could deal with whatever was thrown at him down there. he just didn’t enjoy going there forcefully… not to mention having to find his body when he finally came back up top-side.
either way, he couldn’t help the scoff escape his lips, “you don’t even care, do you? it’s all fun and games, but then… one day you decide i’m not worth it anymore.” he didn’t even mean the words, but then again, he wasn’t trying to anymore. “and you finally see just a demon.” he should have kept his mouth shut, should have even thought about his words before saying them, but still… he had to go on. “not even a person, but everything condensed down to a species i didn’t even have a choice in!” a lie, he chose it… he chose everything, but he just couldn’t accept his own actions nor their consequences.
“then what’s the goddamn point in even commenting on it in the first place?! you don’t know if i’m trying to bed him or not, we’ve barely had any dates happen!” she shouldn’t have even brought it up, and yet here she was, getting worked up over everything all over again and clearly not convinced with the answer she’d been given, judging by the scoff she let out. “right, mild interest. ‘cause that’s believable.”
“you’ve had some though, haven’t you?” he was making sure to poke and prod. just to get some information out about him. it might not be much, but it would have at least been something. “even gotten to the point where you care for him.” he left off the little quip about more than me. no, he wasn’t going down that route today.
“maybe,” he continued on, his hands sliding into his pockets, “i’m simply wanting to check up on my girl.” he gave a shrug as he walked forward, “then again, maybe i just am looking for a target, and am going to give into all those little urges you know so well about.” and then rip off his head.
“who i spend my time with nowadays is none of your goddamn business. leave ba’al out of this.” // @hellfirebound♡ ‘d
“to be quite fair? i have better things to do than fuss over who you’re trying to bed.” granted, he should have held his tongue on the entire subject, but restraint has never been one of his strong suits. “i just have a mild interest in him. very mild.”
fingers twitched at her sides as she rolled her eyes dramatically. she was growing bored with him already, and she hadn’t even exacted the revenge on him like she’d promised jan yet. “power and ruling. that’s always what it is.”
“—– and you don’t even understand why.” he may not have been actively after the throne anymore, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t have his own fun. well, more or less. “you get to live in paradise…while the chosen few get to be up there with you.” he then grunted, “the rest of us deal with what we are given. hellfire and an unending need for violence we can never scratch.”
“watch what you say, demon. you had a good thing with the girl, and you ruined it with your own stupidity and want for a chair. and it’s not like you aren’t going to lay off the namecalling in general.”
"it’s something that you and your kind,” there was a kind now, “wouldn’t understand.” then again, he doubted anyone would truly understand his want. well, maybe his father, but that was besides the point.
“just like their is no way to cure someone like you of your pompous attitude, but i’m attempting to lay off the name calling toothpick.”
