ash laughed, pointing at him before working on pouring him three rounds. “my kind of guy.” though he understood that drinking their problems away was the worst way that they could handle them – it was still the most fun by far. “my middle isn’t so bad. hope my future ain’t so bad either. but guess i can’t know.”
“mine is shitty – will be shitty.” it always was when it came to his past, present, and most likely future. he could try to change things, but it would always wind up full circle. unfortunately, that was the reality of things.
“pretty sure we have differing opinions of the word amusing so i’m guessing pizza and drinks is the best way we can start off.”
“maybe, but it seems pizza and drinks it is.” if all else, ky would obtain at least some company for the night. so… that was a plus in all reality for him. “and then we can truly get to know one another.”
“you hosting this party because i don’t exactly have a home base. could always find an empty house to trash, but that would require a lot of effort. i like the idea of having an audience. the reaction, the mass panic. that makes just about anything worth it.”
“would you prefer a hotel room or something much larger?” he didn’t care where it was held at. only that it indeed happened.”– and empty houses are dirty. i’d rather… do this where i can control everything and… everyone.”
“you can’t just blow by my questions. what the hell are you? because if my daughter is getting tangled up in whatever darkness seems to be following that winchester boy –” clarissa’s train of thought is cut off by kyle’s rough tug on her hand. she squeezed his hand and tried to relax, but she the anger wouldn’t subside. not when it was clear that jessica had been pulled into something that had either killed her or had made her need to fake her own death once before.
“i don’t care how long it takes or how i have to do it… if i ever find out that she gets hurt again because of you i will end you.” her words garnered a stern glare from her husband, but she would not apologize for doing everything in her power to make sure her daughter was not being used or manipulated by a man that had more or less stated that he was not a human.
shaking his head, kyle’s thumb ran over the back of his wife’s hand. getting her to calm down when she got this riled up was a losing battle, he had learned that over the years. “all we’re asking for is a conversation… ten minutes. we want to see that she is alright. nobody really gets a shot at one more conversation with someone they lost… you could give that to us.” he was concerned for jessica’s safety to, but he did not have the temper his wife had. not to mention, he did not think threatening and yelling at a being that was not human was very wise.
“you’ll end me?” that was all he needed to hear so that everything else would ultimately fade into the background. he knew her parents were… going to be interesting, but never in his life did he figure they’d actually make him this.. unnerved.
“do you two even happen to know what i am?” his lips pursed into a thin-line. “you talk big; about taking me down – no matter how long it takes.” ky would admit he was slightly impressed, but not when he was still attempting to put on the persona of a the ‘big bad demon’. he could play the role quite well actually. just didn’t mean he had to like it at times.
“how about you put yourself to the test,” he said, taking a step forward. “you prove to me that you can.” he’d kill them if he had to, but that would have been crossing over the line; even more than usual. still, it wasn’t like he had any other choice at the moment. “and then we’ll talk.”
“we are all lost, i suppose. wishing this all has a higher meaning than my father haphazardly throwing ingredients together. a tad bit heavy on the chemical x, leaving nothing but a world of chaos.” lucifer did not mind that part so much. he didn’t need to have everything orderly to function or for it to all serve a greater purpose. he only wished his father would squash the rumors that any of it did.
“given enough time, someone could be found; won’t be easy, but it happens.” his lips pursed together for a few moments. “this world of chaos is one to be enjoyed – to an extent. sometimes, you need just a bit of order to keep things even. Then again? You could just change the game entirely. That’s fun as well.”
“we can feel. it takes a long time. and way too much alcohol… really, when i think about it i have to wonder where all of the liquid i have to take in goes. it takes a hell of a long time to even enjoy it. dull my senses enough that i am not tasting every molecule in my cup.”
“you need to drink better alcohol then – old fashion kind that tasted more like gasoline than the stuff they make today.” ky had some once – it actually knocked some sense into him. if only for a few moments. “— might help.”
“everyone but the blondie that has a bit too big of a mouth on her… so what are we doing tonight? making deals, tearing through some low level demons? getting hunters to turn on each other?”
there was a slight glare at the mention of jess, but he simply let it go. at least this time.“i was thinking of a mixture of all three. make some deals, rip apart some low level demons, and then? well… the hunters will simply be for sport.”
“so you’re saying i’m the lucky one that gets to balance the scales for the assholes that get whatever they want. especially the ones that don’t have to do a damn thing to get where they are.” not surprising at all, but utterly frustrating. “at least i serve some sort of purpose, i guess.”
“i’m saying some people are just born for greatness – other’s have to work towards it.” not that ky could truly say anything on the matter. he knew better than most that sometimes the scales had to be tipped in a certain direction to make turns out out half-way decent. “it all depends on perspective.”
“always willing to see what pathetic wish these saps are begging to sell their souls for. gotta watch out for the ones that are looking for fame. that might get them before we’re able to collect.”
“well, you can give them talent, but not give them fame. besides, fame could last one minute or even for several years.” he shrugged. “a deal is all about an exchange. if they die before their time? well… that’s not our problem.”
“not largely. there’s more evidence that points to the world having no true design. the universe being a lot more vast than any religion ever paints…” it was something she had struggled with her whole life, what she truly believed in that department. her mind told her no, but her heart yearned for yes. “but, like any human, i guess i am a little bit driven by emotion to want to.” mostly to know she would see her dad again.
“and that is where you’re wrong. nothing ends – not really.” or maybe that was just how he saw things at the moment. “eventually, you’ll find yourself in a situation where you have to hope there is something else.” he’d been in that place several times – more than he’d enjoy counting and yet… he didn’t seem to think it was that big of a deal. “sometimes it’s for better, but most of the time it’s for worse.”
