MIT’s library was gradually becoming something of a ghost town, all the student’s hunched over their last minute assignments slowly dispersing leaving all but the lone man and one very tired sixty something librarian left to the quiet. After a while she told him she was retiring for the evening, locking up but that the fire escape stairwell would allow him to exit. He smiled and nodded. This was of of course, only because he was one of their most prestigious alumni. One could hardly fault him if he wanted to stay later to work before his upcoming lecture. He said goodnight and she left him alone. At least, that was what he thought before a couple hours later a man sat across from him. Odd, he hadn’t heard him come in.

“ If you’re here to mug me I’ve only my car keys, don’t bother. ” He’s says disinterestedly without looking up from his novel. “ And it’s a small economically friendly car….so you wouldn’t get far.”

Obviously he should have chose a better time to ‘drop’ in. Nights were easier; he could blend in with out anyone raising eyebrows. Hell, he never would have been able to make  it into this sort of place when he actually cared. They would have more than likely slammed the door in his face. It was why he was here in the middle of the night when anyone in their right mind should  have quite honestly been asleep.

Having someone else there just complicated matters, but not enough for him to leave. Not yet at least. “If I wanted to mug someone,” he said, leaning his head back for a  moment. “I would have chosen someone who wasn’t in a library.” Not to mention he wouldn’t have resorted to the action  anyways. “Then again, I wouldn’t see how it matters. I don’t drive.” Well, not regularly at any-rate, but that was besides the point.

❛ Does it truly matter? ❜

Good or bad. Hero or even Villain. Names, or rather titles were thrown around so easily these days. It took very little for one to get confused with the other. A spectrum that shifted every day due to the actions or inactions of another. It sickened him.

                                            ❛ i’m one of a kind. ❜

“You planning on standing there all day?” Tempted as he was to do the same, Blaze had taken the lazier option and hogged the only seat in the empty house that was available. “The floor’s clean. Should use what time we’ve left to take a breather ‘fore things start gettin’ ugly out here.”

“Well, you shouldn’t have gotten us in this shit-hole.” He blamed it on Johnny when the case was directly the  opposite.  Not like he’d ever admit it, but that most likely was  the truth.  “If it takes me  standing here to make it go away? So be it – i’ll be fine. I can handle ugly.”

“It’s cool and all, living in New York and getting to pick up the slack of the street-levels…” Bobby sighed, blasting flames dancing from the windows of an apartment building. “…but I’m not a fire-fighter. Where are the fire-fighters?” He sighed, freezing windows over and letting the runoff deal with the other fires.

“Maybe a fire-fighter will come and sweep me off my feet for doing his job.”

“I could always light more fires – maybe you’d become a fire-fighter one day.” Or maybe that wasn’t the top-tier of idea’s he could have brought to the table, but  at the same time? No, he didn’t care – not right now anyways.

“Wouldn’t be too hard; fire may not entirely be my element, but  it’s easy enough to guide… if given the right incentive.”

“ that wasn’t the most helpful response you could have given. ” Not that anything he could say would actually convince her to pull out of this. This was her job, she was expected to come up with the results they wanted in whatever form necessary, her own safety was an afterthought most of the time. “ now if you’ll get out of my way, I have people waiting on my results. ”

“if i wanted to help, i would have said something  else.” or maybe ky would have given  the same line. he wasn’t known to give ‘help’ to anyone. not truly at least. “now, your results will  just have to wait a few minutes, won’t they?” or hours. after a while… time became hard to understand. at leas to ky.

The strength in the demon’s jab is enough to force him back, staggering. Size certainly was on the other’s size, in addition to strength and overall appearance. This being frighted Brock, which only added to the humiliation he feels after making such sources. Dammit, Eddie, remember the golden rude of your trade;  objectivity is a myth but fairness is a must.
   You need to warn him!

“I already told you, man! It’s the lord of the Abyss! The god of the symbiotes. It’s Knull!” Decrying that name as though it were a curse upon his tongue, he grimaces in his frustration, moving closer to losing his patience. At the same time he could feel the living being he shared a body with react instinctively to his words. The Klyntar may think of humans as nothing but edible resources, but they did know fear. And it was all directed towards the progenitor of their race.

“Everything will get wiped out! All of it! We can’t let that happen.”

“You,” he said, arms folding across his chest, “You can’t let that happen.” Ky wasn’t going to get involved in this; not unless he had an absolute and valid reason to do so.  If he didn’t, he could get involved, and wind up fighting off several forces at once; he wasn’t  going to go into this situation blind.

“It’s your other’s God,” he said sharply, “I i believe that’s a you issue.” Instead of saying more along those lines, Ky  moved a clawed finger under Eddie’s chin. “If this lord of the Abyss poses a threat… i’m sure there are many who’d be willing to fight against it.” Or not, Ky didn’t actually care – not about this God. Not when he didn’t have a valid reason to do anything about it.

“—-not me.” Not ever, but that could change. “I’m not a hero.”

“in my experience, you don’t punch whatever comes out of a portal.” granted, he always had… violent entrances, but this? it was worse than the last time this happened. a volcano he could handle. this? not so much. “and no – who even sue’s people anymore? it’s not like…” a shake of his head. “what the hell is a iron fist anyways?”

okay, but here’s an idea. we do anything but that because your plan idea is the worst thing i’ve ever heard.

“ going in, killing everyone, and taking what’s needed is a fairly decent plan.” a pause. “just as long as no one survives or what have you. besides, it’s not like there an army between us and it.”

there was only so much one person could take before they cracked (sometimes for good).  the son of blackheart was on the verge of one such situations; the last few weeks had been unnerving. well constructed norms (formed over years) had fallen into memory.

what he’d been working towards (something better than what he was) was shoved to the very  recesses of his mind. why should he care when no one else did? he was the sum of not just his mistake, but the one that made him as well.

suffice to say… he was having a bad month.

“not really in the mood for company, ” he said, glaring in the other’s general direction. “or anything.”
