“No.” Solid words and a frown on his face. “I’m not about to do anything to help you steal.” Peter doesn’t move when the other steps forward, is staring heavily at the man. “You might deal with ambiguity but I don’t, I’m not living in a grey area or doing things that are questionable. Yes I hide my face but that’s to stop others from worrying.”
Hands are placed against his hips, and Peter is playing at bravado now, wishes he had his mask back on just to lessen the sensory input. “I don’t care if you want to call this item yours, because if you have to steal it, have to kidnap me in the process – then it’s clearly not yours anymore.”
“If we’re going to be quite honest; I could have left you where I found you. Sure, you’d live, but I had so many chances to squash you like the bug you are. I’m almost tempted to do so now, but…” he grinned. “I need you alive.” At least for the time being, but that could change – especially if things proved to be a bit more… problematic than he intended.
“However, should you chose to be a bit… what’s the word these days? uncooperative… I may do something we’ll both regret.” It was more than a threat – it was Ky putting on the line just what he’d do to obtain what he wanted.
“So,” he clasped his hands together tightly, “do make sure you make the right decision.”
Their role reversal was almost complete. The once God was now not just unworthy, but falling deeper into that mindset. On the other hand, Ky was changed; not just worthy, but actually attempting to be better than he’d ever been.
Deep down, he knew that this moment would come; where he’d have to chose between being worthy and falling back into old habits. Truth be told, he had thought with Mjolinr, he’d be able to resist that call – to resist the darkness that always was there. The only problem was now… he just had far more to lose.
Thor, for as much as he hated him… could respect him; Worthy, Unworthy, or even Otherwise. The former God of Thunder was not just an amusing opponent, but also, a worth-while one. A reason to why their fights went on like clockwork.
However, now Ky was actually being honest. As much as he didn’t want him to do this – there was nothing Ky could personally do. He’d have to rise above this self-imposed ideal’s of trying to save him and let him make his own foolish decisions, but was it right? To not at least attempt to help – maybe, maybe not, but the truth of the matter was that being decent was all so… new to him.
A reason to why he took a few steps forward and let a deep breath escape his lips; he even put down the hammer as he raised his hands up. For now, he was trying to reason with Thor, but even then… he couldn’t stop this. Ironic… since Ky could have been in that same position if things were drastically altered. “I can’t stand by as you do something foolish, Thor. You know that.”
of course he was LYING; he always lied. he just wanted to ATTEMPT telling the truth for once. he was SORRY that he lied ( in his own way ), but he WOULDN’T stop doing it. not now – not a year from now and most certainly NOT ever. lies kept him ALIVE … even if he had to DEMOLISH relationships in the process. “ am i now? or is that just an ASSUMPTION?”
“You don’t wanna know.” Or perhaps the other did know what he could see. A finger raising along his lips, Jas never took his glare from ‘Ky’lar’. Though his disposition seemed care-free, there was an underlying tone to it, as if he was capable of doing something despicable.
“…keep your distance, Ky’lar, and keep to yourself as long as you are in Italy.” He knew the threat that came out of his mouth was brazen, yet he meant every syllable of it. Evil forces were taking over his country; eradicating one would be of no heavy conscience to Jas.
“Do I now?” A slight grin pulled at his lips, but it quickly faded. Oh, he had some ideas, but he wasn’t about to share them. Not here and certainly not now. There was no fun in it – not really at least. “All I am is a man – one who just happens to be in the country for a while.” Not long, maybe as short as week, but plans could change.
“At any-rate,” He said, taking a step closer, “You can be rest assured that I don’t plan on getting any closer than I am currently.” For the moment at least. “As for keeping to myself? I can’t really promise that – good try though.”
The act of making a decision such as this was… different. Not in a bad way, but rather, it was a challenge to actually accept that fact that he was actually being given a choice. For the last few years, whatever choices he had were based upon what he’d done, and who he was ( at leas tin his mind ).
So, he stayed away from anything that could even make him content. Doing so… was easier than facing the moment when everything would ultimately go down hill. It was the moment that someone of his family either showed up or he, himself, managed to ruin whatever decency he actually had at the time.
“I want a fight,” he said, flipping through some of the pamphlets, and glancing over them. “A real fight…no holds bared, no holding back, and no stopping it. Not until i’m done or have been beaten.” He knew he wouldn’t get it – knew that Thor wouldn’t go for it, but… Ky wanted it. No, he didn’t exactly want a fight, but he desired one. Not just due to the fact it would let him cure that itch of his… no, there was more to it. He wanted to prove ( to everyone ) he could handle himself.
Ky then stopped glancing at the pamphlets as he grabbed one; a cruse ship to Alaska. There were two reasons this… for one, the area was going to be cold – or he hoped was cold. He always enjoyed sub zero temperatures and for two? Well, if Thor wanted to take him someplace… he wanted it to be the furthest away from any civilization. It didn’t matter if it was on Earth or otherwise… if Thor wanted to take him somewhere? Ky wanted to make sure that they’d be far away from everyone who’d try to cut it short.
“Someplace cold,” he said, tapping on the pamphlet for a few moments. “Very cold.” He wasn’t going to get into the details, but he’d hoped he wouldn’t have to in all reality. At least for the moment.
“Mmm want to test that theory?” her green hues remain trained on him. “A very wrong and bland assumption, you’d be surprised. I’m much more adventurous then you give me credit for and I’m a little insulted.”
“anytime, anywhere, and any place,” he said bluntly. “this… theory of mine will be tested and i can assure you.” a short two-second pause. “you won’t be able to hold me. no one can.”
“ i can surpass the son of a demon, ” she was practically jogging next to him in comparison. however, she does not feel as if this was a victory – there was more to be taken into consideration. especially in her surroundings and his identity. if he truly was blackheart’s spawn, he’s not going to come willingly to be locked in hel.
“ confess your crimes and come willingly – don’t make this harder than what it needs to be, ” she bites her tongue and cheek as she preps for the unexpected. a warrior must assume the worst and never falter – not until the last second.
the thought of any crimes was laughable at best, but he’d keep his lips sealed on that specific matter. no, he wasn’t going to admit to anything – sure he’d done enough to warrant him a death sentence in a few realms, but it all could be attributed back to his nature.
“ you sure ‘bout that? ” he asked, grin still plastered across his face, and for the most part ky believed he was in control of the situation. he might not have known much about her, but he knew she was a warrior of sorts – not of earth. that much was clear, but he’d been wrong before. “ the way I see it, ” at least for the moment. “ i’ve done nothing wrong. ” at least for the last few days. “ so, what is there to confess? ”
Steve was aware of what was at stake here. He knew how others would react, especially those who had seen Bucky vanish before their very eyes. People would make questions. Suspicious would arise and the veteran knew that the backlash for what he had just done would be… no short of monumental. What would Thor say? Or Natasha? What would Bucky say if he knew what he had done for the sake of saving him? How badly would his best friend react after learning why he had come back and no one else had? It was a price that Steve was willing to pay. It was something that only he could do. Maybe there was a way. Maybe later down the line, they would find some way to undo what Thanos had done.
MAYBE.
But how was he supposed to focus when he was blinded by grief and pain? To see Bucky die before his very eyes not once – but twice? That was far too much. He would even give his own life in exchange for Bucky’s if that was what it took for him to have the other man back. The one who didn’t want to fight. The one who wanted nothing more than to live his own life and put his past of war and conflict behind his back. It was his fault that Bucky had vanished. It was his fault that things had… been the way they were now. But it was not too late to make amends. They would stop Thanos and they would find a way to bring the ones who died back. They would find a way to right their wrongs. But for him to do that… he needed Bucky. He needed that ONE person that would make everything so much better and bearable.
Blue eyes turned to the demon and even though he knew sooner or later, he would have to pay the price for this – Steve was oddly at peace. Whatever the demon wanted, he would do. It was his end of the bargain. Whatever it took to bring Bucky back. To bring the one person he cared about the most back to the world of the living. It was not his time. Not yet. “Thank you.” Lips curled in a half smile and Steve offered his demonic contractor a short nod. If the blond could truly bring Bucky back – he would pay the price. It was worth it. “How do I know it is my time to fill my end of the bargain?”
He didn’t expect thanks. Nor did he expect true gratitude for what he was about to do. Tinkering with fate always came with a price – usually, he had something to weigh it out with properly, but words held their own power. A favor for a favor – something he did out of pure necessity than actual want.
Bringing one man back wouldn’t tip the scales one way or another – the scales were already destroyed. That was what happened when the Titan decided to snap their fingers and throw the entire universe. Whatever balance there was… it was torn asunder.
All that was left was the fragments of what was once known as reality. Dust littering every room, street, and corner of not just the world, but the universe at large. A price to pay for someone who decided that most of all life needed to be eradicated.
Maybe in another time Ky would have done the same thing, but not like this – never like this. Though, he doubted he’d ever get ahold of an infinity stone. Especially now… that they were all currently held by a very mad Titan.
“You’ll know.” It was a lie, but also a truth in all reality. Ky didn’t know when he’d call either one or a majority of his deals in. However, he knew fully well that when the time came? He’d be calling it in no matter what they were doing or what was on the line.
“Until then,” he said, hands slipping into the pockets of his pants, “I’ll be watching and I might even show up now and again.” Of course, the final words from his mouth were doubtful, but they held some sort of truth all the same.
It was the dispassion with which he spoke that intrigued Felicia, curiosity coloring her face. Too interested to even react with more than a sniff of disdain at the questioning of her ability to complete what was being described. It was appearing to be a relatively simple job and the thought of a near unlimited payday on top of it?
“I believe I’m familiar. It’s to be a part of the Art in Weapons exhibit at the Met? Not an easy place to get into, but not impossible. One hundred thousand dollars and give me a week to deliver. I require half up front, the other half can be paid at delivery.”
She tried not to roll her eyes at his explanation, stopped by the step forward that she felt was meant to be intimidating. A shapely and dark brow quirked upward, pointedly staring at the shortened distance between them before darting back up to his face.
“Not to give you the impression that I don’t care, handsome, but uh… I don’t really need to know that. Now, do we have a deal? Or did you want to attempt to negotiate?”
The price was… fair. He had said any price – so he half-expected something far higher, but wasn’t going to complain either. It was a mere scrap of pocket change in his mind – considering the amount he had tried to pay through more legal means. Not to mention that this route would have far less paperwork involved.
“Negotiating would mean your price is a bit too steep.” For him, it wasn’t – not at all. It was simply a means to and end. One, that hopefully would earn him some points back home, but only once he had the item in his grasp.
“A reason to why we have a deal.”
More importantly, why attempt to negotiate when it wasn’t needed? Sure, he could have found someone much cheaper, but they more than likely would have failed. Or failed, got caught, and then it would all come back to Ky – something that he didn’t need at the moment.
