THE AGENT WANTS TO RETORT, to say how rude the man’s comment is, but what’s the point? yes. they died. they all had died. and there is nothing to show for it? how are they to mourn their dead when no body exists? god, he’s already thinking of funeral preparation.

eyes snap up and look at the other. “what? you’re just gonna leave? just like that? where were you during this fight?” ross can’t tamper the anger that bursts forth.

image

HE COULD HAVE ARGUED WITH ROSS. he could have ESTABLISHED his stance on why he SHOULDN’T have been involved in the first place. instead, he chose the much HARSHER route by stating the TRUTH ( from a certain point of view ).

“it’s not my fight.” nor would it ever be in his mind, but there was more to it. ky didn’t want to get INVOLVED when he cared for close to no one on this planet. maybe ONCE he did, but now? it was EASIER to let whoever was left to SORT things out. “last i checked,” he said, arms folding calmly behind his back, “the world was in the hands of the avengers, military superpowers, and what have you.” he could have said that they all FAILED, but he held his tongue in-check – at least for the moment. “they are the one’s who should CLEAN UP the mess – not someone like me.”

My house, my rules.”  Technically, it’s not his house, but it is his building; so he thinks it counts. Brows furrow as he frowns. He walks in to the room, towards the counter across from his, purposely leaning against it, with arms crossed.  How about the fact that you still don’t security clearance. I’m gonna figure out how you keep getting in here.

image

“or,” he said, moving himself back a bit on the table, “you could just ask how – i mean, i could get clearance, but with my… history? it’d be easier for me to get into a fortified base then this very room.” then again, he wasn’t in the mood for a fight. well, not today at least. “so, are you going to listen to me this time or do i need to steal one of your suits for you to do that?” not that he would, but it was still a threat. one that hopefully would get some attention.

He had asked the question out of a slight amount of concern. Not for Peter, but for that black goo that attached itself to the boy. From what Ky knew, it needed Peter, and it didn’t want to let go of it’s Host. It was a relationship that Ky could relate to; never truly wanting to let go… at least not truly, but they had to. It was the only way one relented completely from a struggle.

In Ky’s case, he never wanted to go back home, and he never wanted to go back anywhere near there. He would have to eventually, but even Ky knew that sometimes the best things were what you didn’t personally want. It may have been painful, but Ky knew that what he was about to suggest wasn’t going to be taken well.

He knew how to play savior; to be there when Peter needed him most of all. He knew what to say, how to say it, and now? He was going to something that might make him seem a bit harsh. True, it might not have been the best idea, but it would suffice – just until Ky could find a way how to make both Peter and the ooze cooperate together or… get them separated.

“Mmm.” Ky’s right hand moved under Peter’s chin for a few moments, slowly rubbing it. “Have you ever thought of…giving in?” A dark grin spread across his lips as he lowered his voice to just a low whisper. “It might help.”

THE BLOW HAD BEEN   unexpected. but also not. ross felt pain bloom across his face, skin breaking and blood flowing. he’s sure his teeth clacked too. hopefully none of them were chipped or broken. that wouldn’t be fun. how many of his teeth were actually original? the agent had a habit of being captured and wailed upon. this time is no different.

lips curls and the agent spits a spray of blood. “give me a good and logical reason to share my information with you and i might be so inclined to do so.”

image

INSTEAD OF LAUGHING AT THE REQUEST, he restrained himself from doing so. no, ky could give several good reasons to why he needed the information, but as to share it? all he could give ross was threats – one’s that he would absolutely go through with, but threats all the same.

“or, he said,” hand moving to grip ross’ chin tightly. “we can do this for a few days straight. either way? you’ll give me what i want.” or, they could be in the same position when the time had passed. it was a risky move, but one he was willing to take – even if it meant making sure ross knew just what would happen if he didn’t comply. “’cause, the way i see it? this can only end in a few ways.”

the threat is real, as well as duly noted. but Stephen wasn’t in the business of being intimidated by the denizens of Hell – even half ones. for one the Prince of Hell for all intents and purpose looked human.

now a cosmic horror. those, depending on the size and appearance even made him give a thin line of disapproving.

but not the man before him.

“one or one million i’ve given a vow to save as many as can be saved.” arms out as if going, ‘ta-da’ – “and that’s exactly what i did in this case. someone lived.”

although he had to hand it to the blonde; having skin ripped off is quite a gruesome thought. “hm. yes, well, i’ll pass on that. my skin could use some hydration but it’s fine where it is.”

“on the other hand – if i find you out again, i have no problem ruining your intentions. again

image

“you can’t be everywhere, strange.” even if he could be, people would slip through the cracks, and that was when ky would strike. he didn’t like participating in violence for the sake of it, but it would more likely prove a point.

“you saved one life; one life, but people die everyday.” the causes were all different, but the end was the same. “you could say i’m…. speeding up the inevitable if you will.” it was more than that, far more if he was being honest, but that was what he’d amount it to. that way, he wouldn’t have to attempt to justify his actions.

“one, two – even a thousand death’s mean nothing.” not to him at least. “you ruin my intentions, i ruin your’s – things get bloody on both ends. eventually,” his arms folded across his chest. “things will get far more personal than they are now. when that happens? lines get drawn and i can assure you… you don’t want that to happen.”

“i really would, actually. i’m curious about it.”

“you know what they say ‘bout the cat, right?” he shook his head for a few moments. “it could be nothing or… it could be something quite interesting.” a shrug. “either way? why so interested ‘bout it?”

righteoushield:

It was madness.

Steve was well aware that what he was doing right now was dangerous. To make a deal with a demon? To exchange something for a favor? If others knew what he was doing right now, they would most certainly seek a way to stop him. Demote him from this crazy scheme of giving his word to a demon. They would claim that there was another way. That they would find some way to bring not just Bucky – but everyone else back. That’s what they did. They fought against all odds and they would find a way to bring them back.

They would.
But Bucky?

Steve lowered his eyes and his hands closed into fists. It was the second time he had seen him die. The second time he was experiencing that feeling of helplessness. That sharp knife piercing his heart and fracturing it in a million pieces. He should be the one to die. Not Bucky. Not when he didn’t want that war. Not when all he wanted was to live in peace. To lose someone that special not once – but twice? There was no doubt in Steve’s mind that they would find a way to bring them back. Yet without Bucky? Without that part of his being? Of his soul? He would never be able to be helpful. He would never stand up beside Thor and the remaining survivors.

Consequences be damned.

The soldier’s eyes lifted with resolve, his jaw clenching as he started back towards the demon. When the time came, he would do exactly what the other wanted – no questions asked. It could be anything. It could cost him his very soul. But for Bucky? To bring him back and not drown in his pit of darkness and pain? Everyone else would kill him if they knew what he had done. And… they would discover. Bucky would discover. It mattered not. It was a price that Steve was willing to pay if that meant heaving the other man back. Alive. The same way he was before he…

“I’ll do it.”

ky knew the answer would more than likely be a ‘yes’. it was the only way to go – especially since steve wanted bucky back so badly. not that he could blame him; not everyone was willing to give up the people they loved the most. especially due to the snap that ripped away so many like something biblical.

the one’s left behind were lost, confused, and even begging for mercy. he could offer it , bring -many- people back, but there was always a price. it never was a good one either – nor was it something anyone wanted to pay. yet… here he was.

making sure that the other said yes – making sure they signed themselves into something they couldn’t get out of. no, ky didn’t want his soul, but he’d eventually obtain it. that was how he worked.. he always got what he wanted in the end.

“it’s a deal then.” he could have said more – could have explained that there would be true consequences to what ky was going to do, but why ruin a good thing? no, he’d deal with them eventually. for now… ky had real work to do. “you’ve made the right choice.”

personatvs:

a look sprawled upon the soldier’s face that dictated all that needed to be said. it was FOOLISH to think that one of said people on the list wouldn’t even know that they were on it,but everyone else he’d hunted down, every single body that had their name etched whether it be before he broke conditioning and he’d gone to wipe them out, or after – they all seemed to know why they may have been.

it’s the BATTLE READY stance that the other takes that has the soldier instantly in the defensive position. he’s ready, willing, and highly capable of a fight —- and even though he wants to avoid this, he knows what needs to be done.

❛  – there’s a list that consists of a threat to hydra’s cause, you’re on it. ❜ a lot of people were on it.

he’s waiting for the other to make his move, and impatiently at that. a soldier, especially one of sniper capabilities was highly trained in the art of PATIENCE, but he couldn’t help but feel as if he were running on nothing more than borrowed time.

❛  and honestly? i think you know exactly why.  ❜

image

OF COURSE, he knew why. if he went back in his own HISTORY he could have given off several reasons ( in the basis of fact ) as to why HYDRA would either WANT his head or to bring him in. it was all a SMIPLE matter of mathematics; two plus two DID equal four, but in ky’s case it EQUALED five. he was one of the few PIECES in a much GRANDER game. a game that could prove FATAL to everyone INVOLVED.

‘ — last time one of THEIR agents came runnin’ around here. ’  by here he meant specifically himself ( not the area they were currently at ), ‘ they tried to give me an OFFER. ’ ky didn’t exactly refuse, but he didn’t exactly agree either. instead, he made sure they WOULDN’T be returning – maybe that was why he was on the list ( besides the quite obvious ).

‘ i can see they DIDN’T enjoy my response. ’ not that he could blame them, but that had been a very long time ago – maybe months to years. quite honestly? ky didn’t understand time very well anymore. nor did he think it was important. ‘ or is this just a SOCIAL call? ’ not that it mattered to him. what ky knew of his ABILITIES and the situation were slim – hell, he knew more about the SITUATION he was in right now than what he could do. though, he doubted that it mattered at the moment in time.

still, his hands clenched into tight fists, as he took an involuntary step forward ( one he didn’t even realize until it was already taken ). ‘’cause, i’m not in the MOOD to deal with this shit – not today, not ever!’

MY door and don’t have the common COURTESY to

you want in the door? That’ll be ONE BOTTLE of brandy,
please. No knock-offs, no cheap stuff…”

“just ONE bottle?” not that minding bringing one along, but just
ONE? he would have brought two! then again, that would have meant that
he CARED enough to actually OBTAIN one to start with. maybe next time
“you SEEM like someone who would DRINK it down in seconds or am i
WRONG about that?”

TO BE QUITE FAIR? i take CARE of my problems.”

most of the time at least, but sometimes things SLIPPED through the cracks. he HATED that certain things were starting to COME UNDONE. not that he could really DO anything about it – not until EVERYTHING moved into place one way or another. still, if she didn’t want him there? TOUGH. she didn’t COMMAND him – no one did. not anymore.

”if you decide to get yourself KILLED, i do believe that’s your problem. NOT MINE!”
