“You know, that isn’t a proper answer.” The comment was far harsher than originally intended, but the problem was he just didn’t care. He asked as he wanted to know why. Not just to know the number of times Strange would bleed for them, but also the reasons to which he was doing so currently.
“You beed often, more so than anyone else, and yet they don’t respect you.” Or maybe that was just how Ky saw it. Fighting for anyone besides himself was a worthless effort and yet it happened over and over again. He just couldn’t figure out the reasons behind it. “— Why is that?”
“Yeah well, I think the easiest thing to do is to suck it up. We all make our version of mistakes.” Sometimes more than others. “You either learn to live with them or you don’t. Either way? Doesn’t matter to me.”
“ the amount of people isn’t the issue, i fight more than them on a daily basis, the issue is the amount of cold blooded murder involved with your plan. tone it down, like, a solid twenty notches, dude. ”
“ i think the murder or murders would be on my hands; not yours.” or maybe that was just what ky chose to believe for the moment. “however, if you have another plan?” his arms folded across his chest. “i’m listening.”
Never the bearer of good fortune, he can’t pretend to be surprised when the tower gets broken into, in one of the rare occasions he’s alone. Saving the world becomes a collective effort every once in a while, and off the Avengers go to fight their villains. Not possessing the right inclination to be a hero, he often chooses to sit these missions out.
Nestled in the warm comfort of his bed, Bucky’s hand pauses mid-turning a page of his book as Jarvis announces an intrusive presence in Tony Stark’s office. Just perfect. Putting the book aside, he fishes a pistol from the drawer of his bedside table before making his way to the office.
Breaking into the Stark tower is no easy feat, he knows. Best to approach the situation carefully instead of opening fire; often simple bullets will do nothing to the type of enemies trailing the Avengers. “No can do, buddy.” Gun poised for a headshot, the soldier watches the man behind the computer. “It would be best if you got the hell out of here before the police storms the place.”
He couldn’t pretend to be surprised by the gun aimed at his head. It was one of the rare instances he knew what would happen if he was caught. A reason to why he glanced over towards Bucky with an eyebrow raised, but then returned to his view of the files.
“Seeing as you’re the only one with something pointed at my head,” he said, clicking on a file he’d been hovering over, “I believe I’ll take my chances.” Or, rather, he didn’t want other’s getting involved in this little ‘search’ of his.
“Of course, if you do decide to pull that trigger, do know you’d be getting blood all over this lovely office, and trust me… these are worthless to me.” It was a bold move, but also a lie in all reality. If he had more time, maybe he’d get the answers he wanted. The only problem was there just wasn’t enough time and… being held in a cell wasn’t exactly on the agenda today.
THERE WAS NO NEED FOR A FORMAL GREETING. not when being decent was out of the equation. he spoke the obvious; maybe a bit harshly, but still it got the same point across. ky didn’t want Rogers anywhere near him – hero or otherwise.
“ Not going back. ” Saying more was advisable, but not necessarily worth an elaboration. Ky already knew Roger’s mind was set on getting him back where he ‘belonged’ one way or another. “ —– Don’t want to go back. “ not if he had a choice at least. “ You can’t make me. ”
It was a simple question. So simple, it could have been answered easily, but where was the fun in that? Souls were one thing and demons another. Ky may not have known much more than a human about such things and yet…. he was a fast learner.
So, the best course of action in this situation was to take his time. Rushing in with everything too fast would lead to a disaster (or so he thought). A reason to why he decided to start with some of his usual antics and make his way from there.
‘ Let’s start with a stranger,’ he could have said more – much more even, but he figured he’d start there, and then move forward as needed. ‘and work our way from there.’
“I can HANDLE myself.” Well, maybe not at the rate this night was going. He already seemed to have pissed of her off – not to mention increased the price. So, he was going to attempt – key word here attempt – to keep his attitude down a few notches. “So, you do your little… thing and i’ll make sure not to touch or do anything ‘stupid’ as you plainly put it.”
taken aback at the outburst – while he evidently noticed a distaste for the nickname, he hardly thought it was to the extreme to result in threats. eddie shrugged it off ultimately, yet noting the others sensibilities. a nonchalant, calming voice coupled with his lazy half smile at this banter, ‘ ya know, i wouldn’t appreciate that, hushpuppy. ’
truth be told, ky wouldn’t either, but it wouldn’t stop him from making threats. even more so when he got angry or annoyed by eddie’s little choice of nicknames. ‘and i don’t appreciate humans thinking they are better than me.’ it was a jab – one that ky knew he’d eventually pay for, but he didn’t quite care at the moment. ‘– do remember that.’
