a huff of frustration, and she’ll counter with her very own eye roll, one hand on her hip, the other gripping her knife.     picked the wrong town to skulk through, i’m afraid — sunnydale is fresh out of wait-list-cuisine, and i don’t think any of our local restaurants serve your kind.

a lie, of course, the average person couldn’t tell a denizen of the dark from a normal human on their best day. it’s the simple fact that keeps her running around with weapons as an extracurricular rather than shopping and going to parties like a normal girl her age.

look, even assholes anonymous isn’t gonna save you. so you might as well cut your losses right here an now

with that, she winds back and throws the weapon like a dart — a bullseye in front of her serving as the beacon — as she’s aiming straight for his heart.

he was going to debate with her; to even push forth the subject that no one was his kind. then again, there was doubt that the conversation would have honestly went anywhere. it was to that specific reason that he took a step forward — to at least get less of a distance between them. maybe then, he could at least explain himself, but even that was a long shot.

either way, he wasn’t really expecting anything to be thrown at him, but at the same time, he was hoping this to be an easy night. amusement, a few drinks, and a very nice dinner. maybe even an ice cold room to stay in for the next three days. of course, at this rate, he wasn’t going to get any of them.

that thought was only connected to the weapon digging right into his heart. if he was human, it would have killed him — or most creatures honestly. then again, it still hurt… worse than he would admit at any rate as his right hand moved to grip around the edge of the weapon. he didn’t pull it out, but he still was a bit… uneasy about it being stuck in him as it served as a reminder. a reminder… that he wasn’t human. well, not any-more at least, but he could still bleed.  still feel pain.

❛ —- you remind me of my ex, ❜ the words were said as a deep sigh escaped his lips. maybe he shouldn’t have been so nonchalant about this,  but then again, even ky knew things were bad. even worse since he quit trying to control himself,  ❛ now, ❜ he said through gritted teeth,  ❛ if i was a vampire… you might have killed me. luckily for both of us… i have only worked with one in the past. ❜

‘d for buffy !

you know, you’re really making this whole sneaking up on the slayer thing a habit, and i’ve gotta tell you ——it’s a dangerous habit to have.       it doesn’t help that he happens to be appearing on a particularly bad night and she’s in a particularly bad mood ——but those details are not worth sharing with him.        so what is it this time here to air your grievances ‘cause i’m not a complaint line, and this conversation is not toll-free.

image

❛ so, dinner? ❜ it was a strange question to ask, but there was a reason for it. she may not have been a complaint line, but in his mind, he could at least buy her something to eat. if not for her time, for her trouble, and maybe she wouldn’t attempt to kill him. well, there was always some hope — even if it was slim to none,  ❛ if you’re free. ❜

vitaei

oh i’m sorry. did i let dinner get away ? what a shame.      sarcasm dripped from her tongue while blood dripped from his chin, and she was more than a little bit annoyed that he’d called her out on the lecture before she even got a chance to start it. it had been a trying day, and buffy was ready to give someone an earful. instead she huffed, stake-filled hand flopping to her side in frustration.

you know i was going to, because it is wrong, but clearly you’re on the don’t-care side of the spectrum so why don’t we cut right to the slaying portion of tonight’s entertainment ?      maybe then she’d feel better.

there was a full out roll of his eyes at her comments. if it was up to him, he would have been half-way out of town by now, but it seemed he still had to deal with this. just his luck the one night he was trying to make himself feel better… he had to come across someone who wanted to stop him. of course, that was to be expected, but that didn’t mean that he had to like it.

❛ actually, ❜ he commented,  ❛ i’m move of the very expensive steakhouse or places it takes months to get reservations for. ❜ even though he was being slightly sarcastic himself… at least he was being somewhat truthful ( for the most part ).

❛ then again, consider me on the; i cared once, but then endured hell, and now i don’t really care about anything, ❜ a pause,  ❛ side of the spectrum. ❜ he didn’t care if she believed him — didn’t even believe himself half the time as he slipped his bloodied hands into his pockets,  ❛ so, if you’re going to attempt to slay me, please make sure to get it done right. i would, ❜ his tone turns sarcastic,  ❛ hate to miss this meeting later tonight. ❜

“i highly despise being interrupted.” it was a simple comment as the man moved to wipe the blood off his face. though, he would say that he was a bit disappointed that the one he was trying to skin got away. then again, they would live to see another day, but wasn’t that progress of a sort? he actually didn’t kill someone or maybe it was on purpose. either way, he glanced towards the other for a few moments, “now, if you’re going to lecture me on how ‘murder’ is wrong, i’ve heard it before or… are you simply here to send me back?”

she doesn’t turn when she senses the intruder in her home. if someone has come with any intention of doing her harm — they’ve already made it through her wards, and that means any defensive stance she might take now  would likely be useless. instead, triss continues to direct her gaze downward, into the book she holds — an ancient text that few can translate, and into which she’s put a great deal of effort simply in the acquisition.

❛   how did you get in here ?   ❜

the question is quiet, casual, when she finally poses it. there’s this sense of something —— though she can’t quite put her finger on it —— and generally when one is so determined to see another that they will disable any safeguards surrounding a place, they’re likely to explain their purpose sooner than later.

      ❛   couldn’t have been easy ❜

if it was easy, he wouldn’t have been here, but then again, there was only so much he could do. warding was new to him ; it wasn’t simply picking locks, but dealt with something else entirely. a reason to why he was hesitant to even answer the question.

in his mind, answering would only cause more questions to be posed, and he didn’t have the answers to many of the one’s he thought the other would ask. all he knew so far was he needed to find someone — someone who might be able to shed some light on his… current situation.

      ❛ i walked through the door. ❜

a simple statement, something that was not quite the truth, but also not quite a lie either. he wanted to be truthful, but it was far easier to speak lies these days than anything else… at least when the true matter of facts were far more complicated than a simply put lie.

        ❛ is that a problem? ❜
