“Why are you looking at me like that?”

part of him wanted to say that he was ‘sorry’ for what he was about to do, but what use would it be? he had gotten what he wanted and now? all he had to do was take care of her. once that was done, he’d have the house to himself, and the world would be at his fingertips.

“you should have known this would have came eventually, liv.” one way or another… it always ended in death. that much he knew. “you’re just… no longer of any use.”

“ky, come on —” she shoots him a questioning glare, shaking her head as she glances back down to her couch, pulling her legs up until she can settle herself fully back into the corner. that’s not true. that can’t be true, as earnest as it might SOUND. it’s not like she’d ever done anything to endear herself to him, other than letting him stay. eyebrows furrow, and she takes a breath, glancing up again reluctantly before she sighs. “do you honestly mean that?”

he thought the answer would be enough. he thought it would sooth her fears, but she asked more. maybe ky should have expected it, but all he wanted – all he really wanted – was the house. the damage he could inflict on hell, heaven, or otherwise was great. a reason to why he made sure to lower his voice- just enough- so maybe he could lie his way through this. “— yes, i really do.”

“ —– of course it MATTERS –” Her nose wrinkles, and she huffs at him gently, lips pressing into a line as she falls into silence. Watching him quietly, she quickly shakes her head, diverting her gaze to her hands as she tries to come up with anything else to say. “I just don’t – sometimes I don’t understand why you stay here like this –” For the house, obviously. There was more than enough reason for him to stay close, but she hated considering that option. “that’s all …”

“–for you.” a lie if he ever told one. the house was one reason he stayed here, but not the real one. he could end the world here – just needed to take a few items and use them. truth be told, he thought about starting the process already; making use of what he had here to start the apocalypse. the only problem was… he didn’t want to do anything out of haste. no – he had time to create a firm plan – a plan that wouldn’t be interrupted by her ( if he had a say in it ). “i stick around for you.”

“ —– are you happy? i mean, like, honestly? i don’t – i dunno, i can never tell.” not that she entirely expected him to be truthful, either. she could never quite put her finger on whether or not he was telling her everything, or leaving strategic parts out, but – sometimes it seemed easy enough to let that go.

he could have simply said ‘yes’, saved her the trouble of anything further, and it would have eased her mind. happy, for many could be defined as actually being content with the situation or simply being excited. to ky though, he didn’t know what it meant – to actually admit he was happy here? with her? no, he couldn’t say that – he wouldn’t say it. not due to the fact he couldn’t, but since he didn’t truly know how to define what he was… at least in terms she would understand. “— does it matter?”

“ …. when you say it like that, it sounds lazy.” she laughs lightly, sighing quietly as she leaned into his touch. she shouldn’t have let herself get so relaxed around him, she knew that, but it was hard. staying vigilant all the time when she’d been given no reason to. regardless, she opens her eyes a moment later, laughing lightly as she leans to kiss his cheek. “i don’t have an argument with that though, so …”

he grinned at the kiss. he’d never hurt her – not like this. as much as he would have enjoyed to do so… it wasn’t worth it. she wasn’t a threat, nor was she anything that could ruin his plans – in-fact, keeping her alive could help them. still, he kept scratching her scalp as he shifted himself slightly . “well, we can be lazy together than, huh?”

“i just meant that i’d have assumed you’d be used to a little more heat.” she quickly bites back a smirk, shaking her head a moment later. “god, you’re dramatic. do you want me to turn the air on, or something?”

“just because i can stand temperatures far up into the hotter than volcanic rock range means nothing.” he shook his head for a few moments. “look, i’ll be fine – i stay on earth too long and i start enjoying the coldness of it all.” it was more than that – he just just enjoyed freezing temperatures… it was something he never could get back home.

“ – you’re kidding. what are you, a furnace?” eyebrows knit. she’d laugh if he didn’t sound so serious. and it’s not that she minds, but SHE feels like she needs a blanket already. “i thought hell was supposed to be HOT ….”

“i just like temperatures close to freezing.” or below it rather – he’d actually enjoy being where it was far below zero that it seemed impossible to get warm. “hell might be hot, but earth isn’t, liv. if all else fails? i’ll find a glacier to sleep on tonight.”

“ —– Ky, it’s only 60 degrees out, you have GOT to be cold without a shirt on, it’s not like the house isn’t drafty enough …”

“ i’m too HOT.” ky would have enjoyed it to be CLOSER to freezing, but he couldn’t have EVERYTHING he wanted. “ an’ putting a shirt back on will feel like i’m BAKING.”
