feint magics tickled the back of his mind — whispers of distrust weaving through his thoughts as he listened to the other man speak aloud his.. alias. he would not mention the fact that he did not fully believe his white lie — but he wasn’t truly all that interested in knowing his true name, at least not at this point as it did not matter.
“ it’s a pleasure to meet you, james.. ” he quirked an eyebrow, tilting his head to the side ever so slightly as he paused. “ i apologize in advance for appearing a bit.. melancholy, it’s merely been that sort of day, so far. ”
“those sort of day’s happen far too often to count.” ky knew that first hand. if it wasn’t one thing… it was another. the harsh part about reality was something would always go wrong regardless of where he personally stood on the matter. “and the pleasure is all mine – i’d offer you a drink, but they don’t serve hard liquor here unfortunately.” if they did… ky would have downed at least three bottles of whiskey by now. “so, a coffee will have to suffice.”
stephen quirked an eyebrow at the outburst in regards to his appearance, blankly looking at the man before giving a small smirk of amusement. really, he knew that much, but it was quite bemusing to hear someone state it so obviously. the times were changing, that much was evident with each passing interaction.
“ company would be a welcome change, i was merely lost in thought. i am stephen strange, who are you?”
being honest was a hard task. even more so for him, but he was at least attempting to be for the moment. that way, maybe it wouldn’t help ease his way into things, and not come of as… his almost too per-usual aggressiveness.
“ we all go there. ” ky knew that from experience, but he doubted anyone would truly get lost in thought these days. not with how everything was changing. “ sometimes more than others, “ a slight grin pulled at his lips for a few moments, “ It’s… ” he was about to say his name, but then opted towards one he rarely used, “ James Richardson. ” maybe that way…it would be safer all around.
he wasn’t sure why he was at this coffee shop — didn’t know why he sat near the window, watching people pass by as he sipped idly at his latte.. he didn’t know why he was even back in this world, not really; he likely should just stay gone, giving his efforts to the other dimensions that’d see him akin to a god.. but that wasn’t him, and he has a responsibility to this world.
sipping quietly at his drink he’d sigh, completely missing the fact that there was another man there — the sorcerer being far too lost in his thoughts.
“ you look like shit. ” ky should have just kept his mouth shut and finished drinking his coffee. that was what he should have done, but it looked like today was going to be one of those days – the type where he’d get out of his comfort zone just to spite himself. either way, there was no going back now. not when he’d already crossed that threshold.
“i’d say it gets better, but truth be told? it doesn’t – need company?” a pause. “or maybe a drink… or twenty?”
