Did he have NO sympathy? She could’ve been TAKEN because of HIM – and he wasn’t so much as implying he’d do anything to help and turned it around on HER.

sympathy would have meant he admitted he cared. he wasn’t about to due that as he didn’t. not truly – maybe he did in his own way, but not to normal standards.
“yeah, i know – anything else?” he asked, hands slipping into the pockets of his pants. “’cause, i’m sure you could name off quite a few more things to call me by the time i get to the door.” it wasn’t the first time nor the last time he’d be thrown out of a house, but at least he was being civil about it. well, more or less.

“Blacky does what he wants – he doesn’t enjoy staying away for too long.” A pause. “On the other hand… whatever Meph shows up? Well, it’s usually worse.” Most of the time at least. “They say it’s to protect me, but truthfully? It’s more of an annoyance.”
She just kind of nods.
“Well, you’re in one piece.” At least from what he could tell. “Let me guess; the usual warnings? Or did he threaten you to leave?”
