“ I CAN’T judge. ” It comes quietly, soft as if it was meant to be reassuring, but there was regret lined just beneath the surface. “ It’s always easier to move on when you don’t have anyone or anything to look back to. ” Donna sighs then, forlorn, “ It’s a lonely way to live, though. ” Not that she’s ever really alone.
She looks up at his face finally, her gaze studious, seeking satisfaction for curiosity, but everything about him doesn’t seem to feel right. A bad feeling in the gut that she can’t place, but she tries to not let it show.
“ —- But you don’t seem to be the type to be bothered too greatly by loneliness. ”
“After a while… you get used to it.” A truth if he’d ever said one in his life. He once had ran, but after a while, he had ( in his own way ) boxed himself into a small room, and while it had two specific exits… he chose the one that was easier. Not just for him, but everyone else, and it seemed that the more time that past… the less he managed to feel attached to anything.
Not that it mattered much now. Due to the fact the best ( or possibly worst ) thing Ky could possibly do was distance himself from everyone. That way, he wouldn’t have to worry about ‘unexpected’ visitors – mainly his family – ruining his plans or even disturbing whoever he just happened to be with or even near. “
When you have… family like mine? It’s easier to keep your schedule clear.” He gave a shrug “More or less.”
his words only brought out a scoff; she didn’t expect anything else. most of the demons, or half ones she knew, while talked big, usually went for a much smaller prey. humans, typically, and thus, this wasn’t much of a surprise. if he wished to leave her presence, he wasn’t tied down and was free to do so, but if he insisted on continuing to poke her with a dumb needle, humans or not — the audience never stopped from making herself clear without using her tongue.
❛ honey —— – i am everyone’s type. ❜ the spoken words had arrogance within them, and an unmistakable hint of ire, too. ❛ if you want to run, just run. no need to hurt a girl’s feelings. daddy never taught you how to treat a lady ? ❜
humans were so much easier to work with. at least they folded after a few vague threats. they even were fun in their own way, but they never were enough to satisfy him. maybe that was why he always tried to go after much greater things – sometimes he came out of it alive, but others? not so much.
❛ dear ol’ dad never taught me anything an’ i highly doubt that you are. ❜ even if she was, ky wasn’t about to test it – not at the moment at least. ❛ either way? consider it advancing in another direction. ‘specially since you don’t want me around. ❜
“ ……. okay.” she nods, glance drifting off towards the floor. she wants to believe him. believe that all if it was something more than a show. that he was doing something other than simply biding his time. because if it was all an act – it was a GOOD one. convincing enough for her, most of the time, when she wasn’t hit by a wave of self doubt.
it wasn’t like she could make him do a lie detector test. “sorry, i don’t …. know what my problem is today …”
“you want to make sure that i’m… content.” maybe it was more or maybe less. ky wasn’t going to actually dig into it further. nor was he going to ask questions that would give her an opening to ask some in return. no, ky would get what he wanted – it was just a matter of time. that much he knew.
“an’ i am. i mean, if you want.” he said, “i could just spend more time in a hotel room, but… i enjoy it here. with you.”
“you can’t keep THREATENING me every god damn time you want to get your way! i never ASKED you to protect me, YOU decided to.” the blonde places her hand over her still flat stomach protectively, her hands nearly shaking from the anger she was feeling. she hated that he had that to hold over her head. times like this she wondered how she had ever developed feelings for him in the first place. “this baby is NOT a thing. it’s just a child – one that is half me and half you. it doesn’t deserve to DIE before it has a chance to LIVE!”
his hands formed into tight fists; he wanted to explain his side, but instead, he ended up just slamming his fist into a wall – nearly going through it due to the action. oh, he was pissed off – far more than usual as he yanked his hand back with a grunt. he had a feeling his own father had went through this conversation before – look how that turned out. the best thing for ky ( or so he thought ) was to simply leave. maybe then he could sort his head out, but he doubted it. “if you knew anything about me,” he said, eyes narrowing on her. “you’d know why i’m against this… decision of yours.” he didn’t want this – he didn’t want anything of the sort. yet, here he was, and now he’d have to deal with the consequences of those actions. “you’d know why,” he repeated, taking in a deep breath, and letting it out slowly, “i’ve stayed alone for so many years and why i disapprove of your choice.”

“REST assured that I trust no one.” It’s true; she was not a master at espionage for nothing. She’d seen too many agents fail, sometimes fatally, because they dared to trust someone who had turned out to be the wrong person. But, just to match the sarcasm in his voice, she added: “Least of all someone like you.”
“See, now you’re playing it smart,” he said, sarcasm fading with-in moments. “Trusting anyone is a mistake. Especially when you take into account someone like myself.” If he had the choice to trust himself, he wouldn’t – Ky always enjoyed changing sides or not even picking one, but one thing was always clear with him. He served himself.
“ ——- Okay, I don’t want t’ murder me dad. Though, if we’re being brutally honest, I’ve had nice daydreams ‘bout him tripping down th’ stairs before… “ A quirk of her brow. “ Ye don’t sound like th’ festive sort, no. “
“i stay in during any holiday – do you even know how hard it is to avoid people around christmas?” he asked with a snort. “it almost makes me want to go back home, but i wouldn’t get any peace there either.” not really at least.
