❝ look. i have enough time in pretend land with my civilian consultant. calls himself lucifer. so, if you don’t know what happened here last night just say that so i can move on. ❞ there seemed to be no time without a murder in the city lately. not that she ever expected life in the lapd to be dull, but she wouldn’t mind not having such a large caseload. lucifer had helped her catch people faster, she couldn’t deny that… but she wasn’t in the mood for games today.

“do you believe in an afterlife?” granted, for years ky didn’t, but he’d changed. he knew there was something after what ‘humans’ would ultimately consider ‘death’. not to mention there were the endless and while he’d like to avoid their gaze? they were ever present… even if no one seemed to realize that little bit of information. “or do you believe that all existence ends here… in this little spec of a world called earth?”

“Jus’ because I said I got a season ticket when it comes to comin’ and goin’ from ‘ell doesn’t mean I can take passengers with me. If ya want the same luxury, kid, try makin’ more’n a few terrible mistakes in yer life, first.”

Of course he’d get that sort of response. Ky didn’t even see how it was that big of deal. All he wanted was to get back to earth and out of there, but it seemed  even John wasn’t going to allow him out of this one easily. “Or,” he said, poking John square in  the chest. “You can do as I command.”

“ You can always count on family for anything in difficult situations in happy moments family will be there and my brother has always been there for me, it is worth it the deal I am making with you “ a pause follows as a breath is taken and hands fall to the sides of his body as tongue is darting over his lower lips.

“Maybe yours.” Then again, Ky didn’t have a decent experience on the family department. If he was being honest, he never wanted to see them ever again, but part of him knew they’d get him out of a bind. it was the only reason he attempted ( and most of the time failed ) to stay on good terms with them. “Not mine.”

A quiet laugh at that first statement. But, then, the young hunter’s smile faded. She slumped back in her chair, letting the old book fall closed on the table.    “ Yeah, believe me, I know s-something’s coming, too. My folks have been freaking out f-for a while. “  A moment of silence as Vivian tried to work up the nerve for her next words.   “ I’m scared, Ky. Really a-actually scared… I don’t know how the h-hell I’m supposed to help. Or even if I c-can. I don’t actually know if it’s better for m-me to stick around or… if I should just get out o-of everyone’s way?

“i think you shouldn’t get involved.” more importantly, the moment she was involved, was the moment that she became a danger. not just to him, but to everything – a reason to why her remaining out of everything was important. however, if she did get involved… he wouldn’t be able to stop her. no, he would have to eliminate her one way… or another. not due to the fact he wanted to, but due to the fact it was more so expected of him. “it will be safer that way… for everyone.”
