“I would have figured someone  of your… stature would be harder to find.” Or maybe Ky was just overestimating his prey.  Tracking John down wasn’t as  hard as he figured it would be, but still far less difficult than an argument with his family. So, that was a plus in all reality. “Much harder in-fact.”

@hellfirebound liked to summon the demon

“IT’S NOT NECESSARY TO HOVER LIKE A HAWK,” SAID THEY. leave it to him! the insect on their shoulder, buzzing in their ear! the one they couldn’t rid themself of! get in hot water a few dozen times, they never left you, did they? “did everything as asked.” better than him, anyway. they’d sell their soul again if they’d be wrong! “i’d recommend putting in a good word in for an actual vacation, though, get with the fuckin’ times.”

LESSER DEMONS WERE DISGUSTING. hovering was not just one way, but the only way to keep them in line. if it was up to ky, he’d never be in their presence, but he didn’t have that luxury. nor did he believe he ever would have – it was just a matter of time before he was forced to be around them once again. “is it now?” the question was asked as ky slipped his hands into the back pockets. “you see, your kind doesn’t deserve anything; maybe in a few more years you might make it to something better, but for now? a twisted grin spread across his lips. “you serve me. get that through your thick head.”

REQUESTED? The volume and tone in his voice do surprise her, but only slightly. No more than his presence aboard their ship. She does not let the aggressive nature in his voice ANNOY her; despite the small anger now flicking in her chest.

Requested by whom? She has to ask, though it would be safe to assume it was her father. He is the only one with the AUTHORITY to do such a thing. she wonders WHY Thanos would have brought him… surely he is WORTH something. Can offer them something.

THE QUESTION DEMANDED AN ANSWER. One that Ky would have to give eventually, but not for the moment.  Not when he was still observing his surroundings. Maybe when that was over with and he was more accustomed to where he was, but he doubted it would happen right away.

“So many questions,” he said, arms folding calmly behind his back. “Tell me, do you have patience or are you simply curious to why i’m here?” If Ky had a choice, he’d be in one of the coldest places on Earth, but even he had his own version of duty. Even if it was forced this time around.

“Either way,” his lips pursed into a thin-line,”Mephisto sent me here instead of my father. There was something along the lines about him being tied up for the moment.” Truth be told, Ky didn’t care why his Father wasn’t here, but it still was slightly unnerving.

He had never known difficulty like he did in being forcing to accept an undeniable fact; that in being cast out from Asgard, certain sides had been taken, and he’d so happened to end up pulling the short straw. Stripped of his hammer for good measure, the banished thunder god had refocused his attention on working with the Norsemen, who were enjoying the height of their relevancy during these prosperous if ancient times for Midgard.

In doing so, he had found much needed distraction, prone to forget that he, a prince, had been denied any claims to the throne whilst another heir was set to take over due to Odin’s failing health. From what little he can recall, these several years after being betrayed, Loki had met with a similar fate some months after he’d been removed from the realm.

But, as was his typically terrible luck, a part of the home he had wished to forget would decide to pay him an unannounced visit. Travelling by shadow to further highlight their noticeable aversion to the light, the demon as he has come to regard his treacherous sibling as is regarded with a contemptuous sigh, followed by a wiping of hands. He would need to put on pause his current activity to engage this one in friendly – if slightly charged– conversation.

“Ky’lar, for what reason are you here? Do you bring with you dire news concerning Father’s health?”

Dire news.
If only things were that cut and dry. If this was years ago, before Thor was thrown out of Asgard, maybe there would have been a shred of truth in his coming words. Maybe, he would have even said that Odin forgave Thor – that maybe he would be let back to see his Father’s final moments.

However, that time was long since past. Ky wasn’t going to allow Thor back – not even if he was requested to drag him back. In Thor’s absence, Ky had grown far more distant – hiding away until the moment was right to appear, and keeping key information just enough out of the way so no one could ‘save’ the day.

“Not even a welcome for your dear brother?” His tone fell flat – almost as if taunting as his arms folded behind his back. “Oh, how far you have fallen – to think, i’m the only one standing to take after Odin.” His tone then switched to something a bit more playful and relaxed. “After he is gone of course. Then again,” he said, taking a step forward.”he could possibly get better, but that’s doubtful.”

Revenge

“Don’t look so SCARED. I don’t bite EVERY guy that flirts with me,” she chuckled, reaching out a hand and giving his arm a gentle squeeze – and NOT reacting to the surprising tone she felt beneath her fingers.

“How about I slip into a PRETTY dress and meet you at that new five star place down the block TONIGHT? Say around eight? We can see where the night takes us from THERE.”

image

“Just MOST of them then?” He couldn’t help the slight grin that pulled at his lips. It was only there for a moment before fading, but it was still there all the same.

“Here I would have thought you’d bite ALL of them.” Or maybe that was just him. Still, it wasn’t like he was going to complain. It WOULD give him something to do and maybe a little more of he got lucky. “Either way? COUNT me in.”

Ethan learned a long time ago that trust was a fickle thing; in all truth, he wanted to be more trusting – of everyone he met – but that was merely a wild dream. People lied, people cheated, people were greedy and selfish – not everyone, but sometimes it was difficult to differentiate them from the genuine.

The vampire could understand his caution and warning, and yet he couldn’t help but feel the same. How did he know, if Ethan kept up his end of the deal, that Ky’lar would not just kill him anyway? He could sense the feeling of the other’s intense dislike for him and his kind – on a small side note, he wondered what the reason truly was. Did it have a deeper meaning than simply general disgust? Maybe he would find that out.

“Let us be honest here – it could take years for you to be comfortable enough around me, despite all of my efforts. Why should I waste my time proving that I can remain in control when it may simply be futile on my part?” Ky’lar could threaten him with death all he wanted, Ethan was not afraid of dying. He’s come close many times before, he was used to it by now. It wasn’t dying that frightened him – being forgotten, wasting away without anyone’s second thought however…

“Mind you, I am quite a patient man, but even I have my limits when the benefit does not seem in my favor. How do I know that you will keep to your word?”

image

“Because you have no other choice.” It wasn’t exactly the best thing he could have said, but for the time being, it was only thing he could. In truth, Ky didn’t know if he’d honestly ever be  comfortable around him.

However, that didn’t mean he couldn’t at least try. Vampires were unpredictable. They never could fully control themselves or maybe they  didn’t even try to  do so. Not  that it mattered for the moment – Ky  hated the thought of being in the same  enclosed space as one.

Part of it was due to his history… the other? The other was his own twisted hatred. Not that it mattered too much. Ky had his mind  made up to  not trust the other  and nothing would change  it until the time w as right.

“It may take  years – maybe centuries for you to  gain my  trust, but we’ll see.” if not… well, he’d take  Ethan out of  the picture when he got bored of him.

“no… .i definitely do.” she gives a shrug of her shoulders, blonde curls bounce along with them. “it’s kinda’ comes with the job.”

image

“and  that job would be?” a simple question, but one he doubted he’d get a true answer to. “in my experience…it doesn’t matter what you are. everything is complicated. the sooner you understand that… the better.”
