strangcrdoctor:

“Ah, I see.” Which was to say that he didn’t see at all, save for the fact that he now had a very sudden insight into the man now approaching his door. Out of instinct he braced one otherwise non-menacing arm across the barrier of the one open half of the door and waited for the other to finish. In other realms of power dynamics or masculinity he wouldn’t have looked threatening in the slightest – and even within his own realm he was sure he still didn’t look the part – but the social hesitation at least would come through, and if that earned him enough time to consider the other’s words, it would be worth it. “So I see you’re the “get off my lawn in the Biblical sense” type.”

“I can’t say I blame you, given seasons, daylight savings, and how shitty the Easter candy is compared to the Halloween candy don’t exactly garner favor for springtime.” Still, the schlock of requiring closed doors to have a conversation might have been a good request, but was far indeed from a good reason for such a request, and of the two, Stephen was far more interested in the reason for requisite privacy rather than the request for it.

“But I’ll give you this – I can see that you’re serious about being here on other business. I am, however, afraid that that’s all I can give you until you tell me who the hell you are, why you’re here to talk to me – at least in brief and nondescript terms – and one damn good reason why I should let you into my house.” He could still feel the tension in the house, but it was loosening. Both he and the house knew that the man at least wasn’t a banshee, but what else he might be or want was still a tricky question.

“if you were smart… you wouldn’t let me in at all.” the words were not just blunt, but also truthful. at least from his own point of view. “’course, you could always take that slight chance, and see where it takes you.” not that ky thought it would work; he hadn’t said who he was yet for good reason. he just didn’t know how well it would go over.

still, there was no better time than the present of sorts. “either way,” he said, clasping his hands together. “you know what i am, but not why i’m here. so, i doubt you’re not going to like the next part.” least of all in his mind, but this was why he was here, and he wasn’t going to tuck his tail between his legs just due to the fact of a question. well, not this time around. “i’m ky’lar,” he didn’t even use his fathers name this time – just so he could do this without too much fuss, “ and to be blunt? i need your help to take care of a problem.”

“a few of them actually.” he doubted that adding those last few words in would help him, but there was always a chance. especially when he could practically taste failure that seemed to be all to common these days.

“do think of that but I am not alone on this and I and my team will do anything in our powers to stop you , we will see about that “ a pause follows hand holding the bow and Oliver was ready for anything in case the man decided to attack him, besides the threats the man spoke of a breath taken as then he is carrying on to say. “ Leave now it’s the last warning you will get”.

image

“oh, i’m sure you give warnings like that to everyone. ‘course, i’m not like anyone you’ve ever faced before,” he said bluntly. “you can be assured of that.” not that it mattered much; ky got what he wanted. it didn’t matter how long it took… he always managed to get what he desired. one way or three others.

Vitality

“Great. Whoever or whatever you are, I am not interested. I’m not doing anything wrong, not even so much as stealing a drink from a bar. This body? It’s not even occupied anymore.”

For whatever it was worth, she regretted ever getting involved with Lilith. Or the other shit she had put other demons through just to get an extra favor that meant nothing to the one she had raised. Ruby wasn’t trying to make amends…she was trying to live again.

“I don’t want to do anything with our kind anymore,” she said, eyes following his hands as they went behind his back. “I just want to live.”

image

“you lost that option when you became a demon,” he said matter of factly. not even willing to pull any punches in this little conversation. no, ky was going to lay out things bluntly-maybe that way he could get his own point across with-out having to cut any corners.

“living,” he put bluntly. “is for all those humans out there who are ignorant of the world around them. you may say you want to live, but we all – even humans – serve hell one in way or another.” he could have gone on to explain, but instead, he didn’t think it was important. no, he was simply laying out the facts of the matter, and would get to his true point. well, eventually… if he thought it was needed.

Lexi nodded and took a glance around from where she stood. “If you got any red meat or blood around, they will be right there. Most likely begging with their tails towards their legs.” she replied, knowing that they haven’t ate in a while and Lexi was trying to gain a catch.

“i always have both.” he might not need to eat, but he did keep food around just to keep up appearances. not to mention he sometimes cooked, but that was another story entirely. “they could be in the kitchen.” even though he rarely went into that little area of the hotel room he current resided in. “more than likely tearing it up.”

“Actually,” Eve began, eyes glaring towards the other. She did not care for whom entered or what their agenda was, she cared that her own territory was being violated by someone whom she did not deal with or wish to deal with. “it is.” she stated, taking a step towards him. “And you have a short amount of time to leave before I decide to kick you out myself.” she growled in reply, jaw tight with tension.

“don’t worry, i wouldn’t want you to hurt yourself trying to get me to leave,” his voice dripped with sarcasm as he crossed his arms behind his back. “i mean, it could be hard, but it’s not like i’m doing anything.” well, besides just being there, but that was besides the point. “if it helps? i’ll leave and you can back to… whatever it was you were doing.”

“hey, nothing wrong with the term. just a little surprised as all.” maybe a little suspicious, but if jess was honest with herself she knew that she had grown to trust him. a level of comfort that had come easily with time where she had felt relatively safe. “well, let’s go find the best steak joint around — unless you want me to dress up for you.”

image

“do you want to dress up for me?” he wouldn’t mind it if she DECIDED to do so. then again, she could go just as she was, and he wouldn’t have cared either way. personally, he enjoyed her looking as she was right now, but he wouldn’t say that. “and nothing is off limits. just you and me tonight. no demons, no angels, and no hunters.”

image

“but you might be on this scale of it.” ky wouldn’t admit everything; not out-right. no, his whole life was complicated, and that was from just what he could remember past a few years. true, he didn’t try looking into his past, but that was due to the fact of the roadblocks he ran into. “my whole… existence is complicated.”
