“As it happens, I do, but I ain’t gonna waste my good material on V̨É̶̡R͠M͘͡I̡͡N̴ like you.” Had those been his own words, or those selected by Zarathos? It was getting difficult for him to distinguish himself from his demonic other half when in this man’s presence. And did not seem concerned about this in the slightest. “How much time ya got to spare? Should we be expectin’ visitors? ‘Cuz it feels like whenever one o’ you bastards show up, more tend to appear in the same place.”
“I’m about as H̸҉UM͝A͠Ǹ as Y̧͜͡Ǫ̧͘͠Ú̴͢͠͡ !“His voice raised much higher and was far more distorted than he realized, but Ky didn’t care. Not at the moment at least. Vermin he may be, but in his mind? He saw Johnny as no different than he was, but in his own case he didn’t really have a choice. “And trust me… the only one’s who ever bother me are the two of them.” And hopefully neither of them showed up. That would just make things far more complicated and no doubt violent.
Would it do for him to groan? Probably not, but he knows what must be done now regardless of personal opinions. At Ky’lar’s approach, he offers the man a tight smile, ever the courteous chauffeur, if for dropping the man at the nearest inhabited town. Leaning back on the chopper he’s tentatively straddling, hands are planted around the saddle, nodding to the space behind him for the man to take a seat.
“Hey, stop dawdlin’. If you want a lift, hop on now, or else enjoy trying to tough it out here in this desolate place after dark.”
“Will you look at that – Johnny Blaze is offering me a ride.” Ky could have made a few more vulgar smart-assed comments, but restrained himself. After-all, Ky could have made it out of here with-out the other’s assistance, but it would have been far more taxing. So, he chose the easier option… this time around. “I wonder,” he said, getting on the bike with a smirk. “If people will talk about this. I mean, Johnny blaze giving the son of what was it – arch-enemy- a ride?” Obviously his words were sarcastic, but truthful all the same.
It wasn’t worth it. And it wasn’t just because of Mephisto finding out. No, Norrin was just tired of these demons and their games. He held great suspicion Ky’lar was only using him. People were always using him for one purpose or another.
“I highly doubt you could make it worth my while Ky’lar. I’m not interested.”
Maybe it wasn’t worth it. Ky had given it his best effort and failed. He should have cut losses before this point, but he was still attempting to obtain what he desired. “You really don’t know me well, Norrin.” Though, Ky doubted anyone did these days.
“You might not be interested now, but i’m sure… we can come to some arrangement.”
there’s a routine to what she does ——a procedure practiced until perfected. she knows the steps necessary to ensure that at the end of the day, that need is sated, her nerves are in check, and most importantly —–she doesn’t get caught. maybe it’s a crutch, an extra vice that she doesn’t really need to complete the task, just one more addiction to hang her hat on at the end of the night. but once she’s done, she always has a smoke, and today — if the rummaging through her bag and coming up with nothing is any indication — she’s left her fucking lighter somewhere that is very obviously not on her person. ❛ hey —— ❜ she’s observant, has to be if everything is going to turn out right, and he’s been lurking. well, if he’s going to be a creep about it, he might as well make himself useful. ❛ you pretending to be a statue, or you wanna put me outta my misery and offer me a light ?❜ // @hellfirebound ——— s.c.
❛ or, i could put you out of your misery… permanently. ❜ a simple threat that could become a fact, but only if ky thought it was absolutely needed. for the moment, it was just words, and yet his mood could change drastically with-in a few moments. ❛ a light, ❜ he said, folding his arms across his chest, ❛ won’t do much – might give you some relief now, but it doesn’t last long. you’ll always want another one. ❜ or maybe that was just his experience in the matter. either way, he pulled out a small lighter he kept on hand (even though he didn’t really need one ). ❛ – here. ❜
“YES, IT WILL,” ABDIEL SNAPPED. he grew tired of this. he did not like to show it, but god, the half demon was exhausting, always fighting, always snapping, always on the fence. he’d never had to deal with a more difficult creature, one that tested his patience so fiercely. his eyes hardened into an icy glare, frustrated though not entirely without sympathy.
“bound for hell is fucking nonsense, and i think you know it.” nothing was set in stone, and nothing could convince the seraph otherwise. destiny could always be changed. destiny was to occur if one traveled along the same path, if they refused to change or entertain the possibility of change. destiny was never a fixed thing. that was what most people forgot. you could change; that was the ugly truth none wanted to confront. “nothing can change it, and you’re right. but you can. nothing and no one else. you can try to fight it, or give in and say that nothing can be changed.”
abdiel wondered what the disconnect was. how could faith or conviction be so important to him, how could he be so ready to catch himself, when others were so far behind? how could others misunderstand so deeply as to think themselves trapped? his features softened. “not giving in? yeah, that’s going to be the hard part. but it’ll be easy after that.” or not. nothing was ever easy, even for a seraph. even for a seraph that made everything look easy. “but you’re going to have to work with me here.”
“ALL THAT I KNOW IS THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO!” he snapped back, teeth almost showing as he just about snarled. “i try as hard as I can, but nothing changes. i try not to give in, i do as best as i can, and then it all comes crumbling down.” it wasn’t exactly the truth; ky would give his own effort of trying, but then return right back into his quite nasty habits. time and time again it was the exact same thing. nothing changed… just his attitude towards the situation at large.
“YOU GO ON and on about not giving in, but here is the thing.” his eyes narrowed on the other for a few moments. “it doesn’t matter if i go a day, a week, a month, or a year with out some sort of violence. nor would it matter if i don’t go a while with out some sort of murder. it all comes down to the same exact situation. i give in, i let go of the control, and i’m back to square one.”
THAT WAS WHAT HE BELIEVED at least, but ky’lar had improved by most standards. he was getting better to the point he could resist what came easily to him. the only problem was most of the time he didn’t care nor did he believe it was necessary to control what came ‘naturally’. it was only in rare instances that the thought ( unlikely as it was ) ever passed him by. “the same cycle over and over again- working with you or otherwise… there is no chance – in heaven or hell – to change my fate.”
With the exchange made, Thor had wanted to be free of the man’s company, leaving him to toil and make mistakes by himself. It was an ideal point to conclude their business on, but he couldn’t manage to do so. Some niggling feeling that clambered for him to help Ky’lar achieve his goal had seen the blond’s feet turn to lead, rooted in place. “You have nothing to go on? No lead or clue to base theories upon?” He’d act surprised if he hadn’t seen mortals slip into this habit before. It felt as though they were predisposed to acting without planning ahead, preferring to live on the edge of a topsy-turvy reality. “Surely you must possess some idea as to where to start looking for what you seek?”
“I know a few places.” it was doubtful that what he had in would be anything close to what he wanted, but he didn’t know many realms or… worlds for that matter. His entire knowledge consisted mainly of Earth, Mephisto’s realm, and one or two others. Out of all the realms, he only hand been to a slight few, and knew as much about them as he did about himself. Suffice to say, that was little, but truly admitting such a thing wouldn’t happen. least of all around Thor. “Simply theories, but I will manage.” No, he’d just end up throwing himself into a battleground of sorts into the middle of a war. He’d cause far more damage to whatever side he ended up helping and possibly throw the realm into chaos, but that didn’t matter to him. No, just trying to find some semblance of freedom – or rather, peace was what he was after… even if such a feet would prove to be neigh close to impossible. “As I always do.”
“I liked you better when you were… unworthy.” At least then, Ky could stand to be around the other, but now? It was like nails on a chalkboard. It was getting to the point where every moment near Thor was excruciatingly painful.
“It’s true, you may not ever see a side that has us as… allies, but you need to decide on where you stand.” Not that Ky cared – he just needed to see if his current plans would work. If not, he’d have to make another plan, but truth be told, he had hoped deep down they could have come to some… arrangement.
“If you force me to leave, i’ll take it as you’re siding with them,” disgust spread across his features as he took a step forward. “I’d advise you to chose your next words very carefully, Odinson. Lest you regret them.”
