The words alone made him boil with anger, and by the Allgods did he try to explode. “Besides the obvious?” And angry expression slowly began to turn into a menacing grin. “Many things. Starting from chaining you up, restricting your every moment before inflicting pain onto you over and over again, breaking your bones, healing all of it and start from the beginning. Because that is what the bastard did to me!”

Loki froze then, realizing he had stepped over the line, gave too much information. But what did it matter. If the man in front of him was tied to Thanos anyway, he probably knew about it already. “Oh they matter.” The trickster spoke once calmed down. “You have come to a bad place to watch what Thanos did. Many here would skin you alive if they knew you are here.”

image

“truth be told, they would skin me alive for many other reasons.” that much was clear in his mind. if this was one of his bad days – he may have just let them. more so to see what they would do when given the opportunity to do such a thing. though, not many humans would go through with it. not in his experience at least.

“thanos just happens to be one out of a long line.” though, if he was being honest, his little involvement with the titan was one of the worst deals he’d ever gotten pulled into. though, it didn’t exactly top the charts in his mind. “a very long line.”

“even so,” his hands slipped into his pockets, “i can’t change the past – i don’t think anyone truly has that power. not anymore.”

@fryordie

And so they were, but at a great cost. Countless individuals had been wiped from existence, ‘dead’ for all intents and purposes until they found Thanos and reversed the process. To that end, they were in luck. The trail he had left behind was warm, and the god of thunder had all the determination he’d ever need to track him down. Of course, it helped that he now wielded an enchanted axe imbued with teleportation abilities, but that was seen as irrelevant without knowledge of the mad titan’s current location.

But they were close. He could feel it in his bones, limbs trembling with the anticipation of battle. Accompanied by heroes, oddities and misfits, they came upon a planet with no name, or at least one that no longer held meaning. Some had called this rust coloured world Titan in the past, and all but one of its inhabitants had perished. The same goliath that he remained determined to behead.

Letting the party of fighters mill about the craft that ferried them to this distant region of space, Thor keeps at a distance, claiming he needed to focus but the real reason ran deeper. He could not bear to look in the eyes of his allies, not after letting Thanos snap his fingers, and even took to flying alongside the spaceship rather than stay cooked up inside of it, not needing an atmosphere to breathe.

He’d messed up but he was on the verge of making amends. It was all that he could think about, after losing so much.

the words were said more out of observation than anything else; it was the end game for everyone. trillions had died due to one mistake. one simple mistake for not aiming for the head or even the hand. true, thor had done his best, but ky wasn’t even allowed to fight; orders were orders – even when from his grandfather.

what he saw was chaos, but he was only allowed a glimpse; now, with thor – with the rest of what he could consider an army? he saw what a war – a true war – was really like.  people knew the risks, but were needed to finish this battle; the lives lost today would pale in comparison to the lives thanos already had taken.

still, even ky knew that the chance of success this time was higher than last time, but thanos could ( quite possibly ) do another snap. this time, he could take out life everywhere… if he wished. though, it was also possible that thanos could wipe out the entire so-called army. it wouldn’t even take more than a simple move – something that…ky was even afraid of.

there was no turning back now; not even if every fiber of his being wanted – no demanded that he do so. this wasn’t his war – it wasn’t his fight. the matters of the realms – nine or otherwise wasn’t his own.

he didn’t even know what his own fight was anymore; he should have just stayed where he belonged. at least there he could just watch and pace himself – not have to deal with this. maybe everyone was right; he was still a child. not that it mattered now,  he was in what seemed like a no-win situation, and there was no way out of it.

maybe thor was rubbing off on him; making him actually care about more than just himself. maybe or maybe it would be just a short time thing – everything would go back to ‘normal’ once thanos was gone. maybe then ky could find a way to claim what was his or… he could just make that bloody choice to rid himself of his other half; that part of him he was struggling to still gain control of – even though it was just under skin ( in quite a literal ) way.

however, he still had a favor to ask of the god – true, he hated him ( wanted to rip him apart at times ), but he was one of his only way’s back to mephisto’s realm. as much as he hated it… at least there he was safe ( more or less ) and he’d be able to actually train ( even if it meant possibly giving up whatever was left of his humanity ).

“— a reason to why if this goes wrong and you fail,” again, “i’m going back home – actually, i’m possibly going back home either way, but… i want you to use the bifrost to send me back.” though, it was clear by the shakiness of his voice… that was the last thing he wanted, but ky was starting to learn sometimes you couldn’t do what you wanted. you had to do what was necessary… for everyone.

“ well, i’m not that bad, but if it makes you feel better? ” a slight chuckle escaped his lips. “i’m not even human.” well, not entirely, but that was besides the point. “nor do i think it matters; they are gone and you simply have to deal with it.” one way or three others.

shit. that was the only words that went through his mind at this – whatever it was. ky knew he shouldn’t have brought caleb with him, but as per-usual, he just had to cause him to be miserable… now he was fading. he bet it had something to do with a battle or something, but there was nothing he could do about it now.

even as his arms crossed over his chest, he couldn’t help, but wonder what had caused it. “crap.” it was the only word he could managed to get out. not due to the fact he’d miss caleb, but due to the fact now he’d have to find another plaything.

Ky’s excuse is met with a weary sigh, brows sinks above his eyes until they furrowed in irritation, a wave of fresh annoyance washing over his face. If the reason for why Ky wasn’t there could be attributed to Mephisto’s instruction, Thor thought to censure the devil about it at a later time, show him a sample of the maddening rage that consumed him in his grief. Berating him for not letting his grandchild experience a war which put reality itself in the crosshairs.

Had he been placid before, Thor abandoned such ways in favour of reprisal. Visualising ways with which he could next attack Thanos whilst keeping him alive, the thunderer’s gaze snapped to Ky when he mentioned his brother. Had he said anything extra after ‘kill you again’, he didn’t hear it. For talking ill of his deceased brother had brought the god to his feet, a menacing gleam in his eyes as bruised hands clamped around the half-breed’s throat.

“Speak poorly of Loki again and I won’t hesitate to rip your head off.” Jaws locked together, Thor’s voice was calm, but laced with a dangerous undertone. Changed by his misfortunes, he resembled a powder-keg; fit to explode should the wrong words be said aloud. “You know nothing of his final moments. Of the courage he showed when staring at the face of his own death.”

Pressure increasing around Ky’s neck, Thor’s hold eventually slackened, his mind realising what he was about to do. Appalled, he releases the man, stumbling backwards whilst staring at his own hands. He almost didn’t recognise them.

“That will not be an easy task. With all of the infinity stones in his possession, he could have gone anywhere.”

it was a reaction he didn’t expect. not truly at least. all ky knew about the situation was that it was dire and that nothing could change it for the moment. not unless they found thanos, bargained with him, and brought people back. truth be told, he didn’t care about the universe, but bringing back everyone on earth? yes, he would enjoy doing that – become a hero…. even if such a thing was beneath him in all regards.

still, ky would have took death to be a blessing; if he could die that easily. if only… maybe he wouldn’t have been around that long, but all the same, a smirk spread across his lips as his throat was squeezed. something had happened. that much was clear – even as the grin formed, he knew that much. if he had the ability to laugh, he would have, and maybe even changed into his true form just out of spite.

however, he knew this wasn’t the time… nor place for this. not now, not when all he wanted to do was figure out how to reverse this. well, attempt to reverse a good portion of the damage at least.

a reason to why the moment he was let go, he lifted an eyebrow, and rubbed at his neck. he wanted to ask more about what had happened, but just by mentioning his brothers name… he knew that it wasn’t going to be an easy task. nor a clean one at the very least.

“i didn’t mean any disrespect.” a lie, he fully did, but ky also knew what loki was capable of. though, he decided to drop the subject for the time being. “it’s just that what i know of the situation is limited.” he might have watched things from his grandfathers realm, but he didn’t know everything. not really.

“i’m,” a deep breath escaped his lips, “i hate to say it, but i’m on your side… for this.” rather, ky was willing to put aside his violence towards the god of thunder. at least for the time being.

In trying to avoid the issue he didn’t want to be repeated, Ky lunges for the jugular. People had disintegrated when the universe convulsed, when a tyrant got his wish for less mouth breathers, crowding all known existence. Deaths that had no right to happen, had he delivered a killing stroke.

“I KNOW that!” Thor effectively leaps from his seat when accused, a terrible feeling of anger rising in his chest. It wasn’t meant for Thanos, nor the demonic male passing judgement. When it came time to scrutinise his actions, the bereaved king was his own worst critic. “Norns, I do…know that.”

Having risen from the chair in a fury, his rage fizzled and died as quickly as it materialised. Zapped of the will to fight, Thor buries his face in his hands, a yell of frustration tearing past his teeth as he sat back down. A child’s toy with its batteries wasted.

Finding it difficult to keep it together, especially in front of someone like Ky’lar, Thor lets an arm rest on the side of his chair, smoothing the palm of his other limb over his face before stopping at his jawline. The arm that was laid flat begins to tap a gentle rhythm with two fingers as Thor lets his gaze wander around the room, not speaking again for a long time.

Eventually, he’d say; “Why didn’t I finish the job.”

image

his words had been harsh for the very reason of getting thor to understand. no, he wasn’t doing this for spite, but rather to inform the other of the truth of the matter. when other’s found out, they would blame him – just as they would blame ky for his involvement as well.

ky was guiltly, just as much as his father, and grandfather for this. even more so due to the bloody deal that was struck. still, he respected it – even if deep down ky knew it would come back to haunt him eventually.

“you should have aimed for the head.” a comment he thought was spoken before. even so, ky doubted that it would help matters much, but it was something that had to be said. at least for the time being. “maybe then we wouldn’t have been in this mess.” and ky wouldn’t have been stuck for what felt like centuries in his grandfather’s realm. or maybe he still would have.

not that it mattered much now. he couldn’t change the deals that were struck and the blood ( or rather ash ) that was on his hands. it was too much… even for him to deal with. “so,” a grin slowly spread across his lips as his form started to shift – at least slightly. his eyes turned bright red as he took a step closer. “we’re going to finish the job or everyone left alive will personally know you failed to stop thanos.”

@hellfirebound || continues from here [ x ]

Steve didn’t know the risks – and quite frankly – he didn’t care.

To lose Bucky once had almost killed him. It had broken his heart into such small pieces that he never considered the chance of recovering from what he had lost. But Destiny had a way to be a playful bitch – and seventy years after – Bucky was once more back into his life as the Winter Soldier. They fought and in the end, he found his way to his best friend’s arms once more. Life seemed to have given them a chance to live. A chance at peace after everything they had done and suffered. And for what? For a lunatic with powers that transcended Gods to take Bucky away from him a second time.

With a snap of his fingers – Bucky had become dust.

And this time around, the pain was too much. The grief that consumed him was driving him insane – the loneliness killing him in ways too damn horrendous to be spoken. Bucky had been taken away from him yet again – and this time around, Steve would not sit idly by and wait for Fate to pull another prank on him. Bucky should be alive. Not him. Bucky deserved his chance at a normal life, without chaos and conflict. He had seen enough and done enough. His time was over – and Steve was more than ready to deal with the consequence of his actions.

If that meant summoning a demon and sell his soul for Bucky to be brought back? Then so be it. “I don’t care about others.” This time – he cared about Bucky. Steve knew he couldn’t save everyone but he could save Bucky. A life for a life. “As long as you can guarantee me that you will bring him back without some sort of nefarious side effect – as long as you can bring him back the way he was right before he vanished – I will do whatever you want. Take my soul to hell and torture me for eternity if that’s the price… but please…. Bring him back.”

image

he could have just said that he’d do it with no strings attached. a favor in return for a life brought back. all ky had to do was act; make deal, bring bucky back, and be through with it. he’d actually had done it before; the price was always a favor if he knew they could give him an advantage. a soul was powerful, yes, but word of mouth was far more powerful – at least to him.

“i can assure you that he will be brought back exactly the way he was before.” a truth. the one thing good about ky was he didn’t like – never in deals -, but he could twist the truth to his liking. though, in this case, he wasn’t even going to do that.

in ky’s mind, he knew what steve was going through, and knew the man would do anything – make any deal – to bring back the one person he loved. ky might not have been through it, but ky could relate. he’d tried to find his mother -bring her back- just to talk, to get to know her. sure, it didn’t turn out as he wanted it, but he knew what steve was going through, and why… he was going to make the deal.

part of him knew what it would cost – knew – that it wouldn’t turn out well in the long run for steve. though, he was willing to make deal, and that was honestly the the defining factor. no other reasons, no willing to inch their way out of it; he was ready to do whatever was possible to bring back someone he cared about.

“no torture,” he wouldn’t put steve through that. no one deserved to be put through that. “all i ask is that when the time comes. you do exactly as i say; no questions asked.”
