it didn’t surprise him; eventually, caleb would manage to find a way to stop him from using chains. that much was well known from the beginning of this little game of his,
❝ so i see. ❞ his lips pursed into a thin line,
❝ however, that doesn’t change the facts; you’re going back to hell. ❞ it wasn’t that ky’lar wanted to send him there, but rather, he knew that if caleb was going to pull this… ky would pull something worse.
Oh she was quite familiar with that saying and knew it by heart. A small laugh left the young slayer as she peered up at the demon, knife still pressed firmly to his throat. If he wanted to, he could easily over power her–something she was aware of–as she was still a loose canon and sloppy. But she had a feeling he wouldn’t do anything just yet as neither would she because she wanted to know what he wanted and why he was following her.
“–No I’m not gonna use it yet,” Faith replied with an arched brow, knife unwavering. “Why were you following me?” she asked a few minutes later, eyes locked with his own. “And don’t lie sayin’ you weren’t ‘cause I know for damn sure you were.”
“Just yet? I don’t know if I should be amused or maybe just a bit concerned.” Either way, he wasn’t going to test fate —- not when he was quite certain that she would do what was necessary when the came time to it, “ See, I was hoping that you would have allowed me more time, but then again? We don’t have much of that these days, do we?”
Not that it mattered to the demon, he was just about to break off the following anyways —- far too boring for his tastes. Well, tonight at any-rate, “Anyways, I wasn’t planning anything, not with you at least. Not my type.”
frustration
was the only thing he felt at that moment. they both knew
that shield would never give up, they both knew that eventually
they’d get their answers from him and he was certain the other knew
that it wouldn’t be pleasant. he knew how shield tended to get its
information and while he didn’t approve of how they did it, there was
nothing he could do to actually stop them. which meant having to
pretend like he didn’t know what was going on most of the time and
forcing himself not to go off on hill. she was only following orders
and as a soldier he understood that more than most. if only he could
get that through to this kid. life might be a bit easier if he
actually cooperated instead of digging in and being stubborn.
“you
know that’s not how they work.” he wouldn’t go after him again.
once was enough and should shield demand he bring this kid in he’d
flat out refuse. it wasn’t like he was hunting down doom, the red
skull or any other villain. if he honestly thought this kid was
someone shield needed to worry about he had no problem dragging him
in and allowing shield to do their thing. but steve didn’t think this
kid would cause them a problem and shield would have to find some
other way to get the intel they were looking for. “come with me willingly
and things will be better than if they send someone after you.”
“i can’t do that.” it wasn’t simply a statement, but it was a fact —- the moment ky’lar did that, would be the moment that he opened a can of worms that wouldn’t be able to be closed. staying off the radar was easier, they couldn’t track him, and he didn’t have to deal with the legality of what he’s done. not to mention that he enjoyed not being labeled as something.
well, most of the time — his own choice of friends were questionable at best. not to mention that they were usually dangerous, but that was besides the point. to be taken in by shield or anyone would more than likely be a disaster — one that couldn’t simply walk away from. “even if I wanted to, I don’t trust shield, or you.”
❛ guess that’s the harsh reality of hunting…. we don’t set out to kill people, but it is ultimately what we end up doing because we have no choice in saving other people from the people that suffer the unfortunate circumstance of becoming monsters. ❜ he had to explain the guilt away to a lot of hunters in his lifetime, but ultimately, the people they were killing weren’t human anymore… and any sensible person would be happy for them to be stopped from killing people.
❛ i’ve gotten thanked before… usually by demon’s vessels… but also the standard werewolves, vampires. of course, it doesn’t happen too often, but i try to remember that. ❜ a near lifetime of hunting had made him a bit unaffected by these things, but he still did think about it. he hadn’t gotten to the point of blindly killing like he had seen other hunters get to, so he considered that a blessing.
‘ not all monsters are human or have a choice in the matter. years ago, monsters were better hidden —- they were able to only be myth, but now? humanity thinks they are an erotic fantasy or even worse… try to become them as they think it’s amazing or something like that.’ the amount of kids he knew these days were awful, but he couldn’t really complain — it kept everything running smoothly or so he guessed.
‘demon’s usually leave their vessel’s dead. mainly since some might be able to remember things —- sometimes important, but other times? well, i don’t think they would enjoy having a meat suit alive. not truly at least —- all the same, every being as a poteinal to turn into a nightmare or into something good. usually at least.’
❛ i’m literally holding a decapitated head in my hands, & you aren’t batting an eye. something tells me you aren’t the normal, run-of-the-mill human. ❜
❛ i highly doubt the term human applies to me most days. ❜ then again, it was rare it could be applied to him,
❛ let us just say that i’m something far more than your usual made of mud human and less idiotic. ❜
“ ———–i-it’s like M I D N I G H T. ” he frowned, glancing over at the clock that SAT on his nightstand. 11:49 p.m is what it read. turning back to the man, he slowly sat up in his bed, eyes watching him slowly as he rubbed tiredly at them. both of his cats were nestled on his bed, AWAKE && somewhat semi alert now. “ i… i SUPPOSE i can have a drink. ”
❝ It’s five o’ clock somewhere, isn’t it? ❞ A slight grin pulled at the demon’s lips,
❝ ‘Sides, I might not be this way for a good week or more, an’ if it makes you feel better? I’ll be sure to leave something on the table before I leave. Least I can do for not remembering what time zone I was in.❞
Lucifer’s expression immediately shifts from the charming smile to something surprised and slightly insulted. “I- now just you wait a minute, are you optically challenged? I’m much taller, full head of hair, and I only look murderous when I want to,” He replies pointedly, using his hands to gesture towards himself.
“Now, I have no time for this philosophical ‘all humans are wicked’ attitude, as there is an actualmurder on the loose, so might I just suggest perhaps being more straightforward the next time someone asks you a question? Could prove very helpful for everyone you associate yourself with in the future.”
“Actually, I just don’t care.” That was one way of putting it, not the best, but by far certainly not the worst either, “See, I could argue the whole ‘humans are evil’ argument, but for one, just not interested, and for two? Not my problem on who you’re looking for.” Well, for the moment at least, and Ky’lar didn’t feel that he needed to change his views on that anytime soon.
“So, anything else you wish to ask me? I mean, besides looking for a person that I don’t really care about.” or had any interest in caring about either, but that was ultimately besides the point.
she didn’t want to help him. hell, she didn’t even want to look at him anymore but the dude was resilient and certainly didn’t seem the type to just walk away- clear seeing as she’d been as rude as POSSIBLE towards him but the man hadn’t budged. like a shadow he clung and followed.
“ here’s an idea: go to the nearest hotel and ask for a map. or even a coffee shop would have one. because the LAST thing i’m going to do is give you my phone, ” jessica tells him sternly, keeping to herself that her phone was almost dead, had no internet, and had a cracked screen. she just wanted to relay the show that she wasn’t planning on helping him even though she had the means to do it.
new york could sometimes be a sketchy place, especially for an ex-hydra agent on the run from hydra. who knows if he worked for them or someone else she had pissed off in the past. right now she just needed to get rid of him and get to safety.
He didn’t expect her to give him anything —- maybe walking away after a bit more debating, but actually helping? Well, it was getting to the point that it wouldn’t happen as time went on.
“You know, the last thing usually is what happens when it comes down to the final line, but fine. You don’t want to help? Well, it seems that you are a waste of time.” He could have mentioned a swarm of other things to honestly call her, but he was far too tired to deal with that this late at night.
“Funny.” He rolls his eyes, lips curling unpleasantly. “Can I help you with something, kid, or are we just gunna play games all night?”
“Well, for one, you should get that itching problem checked out, but ‘sides that? I could play games for a few hours —- easier to know someone that way. ‘Specially when you’re not quite sure their up to par for what you need.”.”
Frank thought about it for a moment with being skeptical of what is to come of this deal he was about make. ❝ I’ll do under the condition no innocent bystanders getting HURT in this. ❞ No one who just a bystander are to get hurt or killed. He only killed those who DESERVE the PUNISHMENT for their crimes.
No one was truly INNOCENT; that much was clear since he was a boy. Of course, ATTEMPTING to debate that slight notion would be difficult —- even more so with the one before him.
❝ they WONT. I can swear to that. ❞ It was a LIE, a falsity, since everyone was GUILTY in some way or another, but Ky would KEEP things simple, and not ENDANGER anyone who wasn’t needed. That much he could SWEAR to.
