❝big picture? what big picture?❞ there’s only one picture and he’s failing to see a reason for why he should care if the demon dies. they’re not friends and even if they were — people died all the time. he’s not going to lose any sleep over it. ❝you’ve got some nerve. you show up here, unannounced I might add, and you ask for my help after we’ve already established we are not and will never be friends.❞ by this time they’re standing less than an inch apart, a few steps taken while he ranted. ❝instead of asking my price I suggest you give me a reason why I shouldn’t just kill you right now.❞

part of ky’lar wished that he could have given damon a true reason for why he shouldn’t be killed. it would have made things so much easier : demons were difficult to get rid of, everyone knew that, but it was possible. a reason to why in other case, ky’lar would have enjoyed finally kicking the bucket,

❝ – cuz, you’re gonna eventually need a favor, an’ i’d be the one you’ll turn to. ❞

“The list is about as l o n g as my arm.” Undeniable pride in her tone, accentuated by the slight movement in her limb, jingling her restraints. “Not that, that says much at my height dear.” Light in her eyes, a CHALLENGE, she enjoyed the thrill of being chased, knowing she was on someone’s most wanted list. “So what you’ll pay me off to one of them for the highest price? Even I thought you more creative than that.”

❝ the highest PRICE is what works when all else FAILS. it’s not NEEDED nor is it WANTED, but it’s still POSSIBLE.❞  well, that was ONE way of putting things as the demon took a few steps forward,

❝ personally, i don’t CARE how many want you DEAD or WORSE, but rather, i simply need to KNOW if you have a way to STOP a vessel from BURNING up.  ❞

❛ i know how unfair it can be to judge people for selling their souls… that often, anyone decent in their situation would have done the same. i don’t know what becomes of those demons, but it’s nice to think that hell can’t rid them of everything good in their hearts. ❜ the more time jess spent with him, the more she realized how complex demons were. things weren’t black and white with them, which made a hunter’s job a lot harder.

❛ —— what happens when you exorcise a demon…? do they really go back to hell? to endure more time under the knife before being released again? ❜

image

❛ depends on the demon. ❜ being sent back to hell was never a pleasant experience for anyone involved. most of the time, demon’s had living vessels, and by the time the demon was expelled, the human, who owned the body, had of course died. if it wasn’t due to their injuries, it was dude to the fact of the mental trauma, but all the same, it wasn’t a pleasant experience for anyone.

❛ usually, the humans die, but it’s not pretty. i’ve been exorcised myself a few times and it hurts all the same. ❜

the instant the demon had plucked the container from his pocket, displaying it to him with the insistence that he had kept to his word, sam had visibly relaxed, taking a breath before he’d go ahead and put away the gun he had brandished towards the other; one who had now truly proven himself to be an ally.

doing the math quietly that the extended period of no contact was probably a calculated strategy to keep himself off of the horseman’s trail, sam proceeded to drop any sort of reservations he had about the deal. after all, his one and only concern had just been alleviated. so his next words… would be words of thanks.

good, ❞ he’d say in response to the demon’s assuring remarks.

❝ i appreciate the assist. ❞

image

the demon kept the small container in his hands for a few moments before, slipping it back into his jacket pocket shortly after the other put away the gun. for now, his work had been done, and ky’lar knew that he held up his end of the bargain.

❝ i did what was needed. ❞  rather, he did what he had agreed to, and kept his end of the deal. it was how contracts of a sort worked; he make sure to keep his end of everything and then things worked out well for everyone. well, they usually did at least.

❝ the one after your soul wasn’t turn up any stops —- i was running around the globe to out run them, but…. it’s done. ❞ at least that part,

❝ however, your part of the deal isn’t. ❞ a simple point that the demon was going to put emphasis on to ultimately prove the point that he was the one who had more at play than the soulless hunter.

touch was the one thing that often brought eli back to the present and the sudden grip of the demon’s fingers under his chin was enough contact to jerk the ‘wolf into reality ( even if it came from the wrong source, it was enough, something the ‘wolf hated in that moment ). upper lip curled into a snarl and head jerked itself back, out of the demon’s grip, a fire lighting up hazels for that split second. the familiar weight of silver bound over his wrists was dragging him back under, eli struggling against mind and bindings alike. “go fuck yourself.” hissed words scraping past rough throat, spat out in a hope of keeping crumbling mask up.

image

a slight grin pulled at the demon’s lips for a few moments as he squeezed the other’s chin tighter. the words didn’t do anything to sway the demon from his path : the wolf’ needed to be taught the order of things and that meant that everything would go as planned.

though, in reality, several things could have gone wrong, for the same exact ending result, and while he was hoping things would go decently? he would have to deal with that when the time ultimately came,

❝ maybe you should hold your tongue before it’s ripped out ——- better yet, i think the first act of this series will be to see loud you’ll scream for me. ❞

i don’t care what kind of GAME this is.  the dark haired woman pushed herself away from the cold stonewall, staring at the stranger lingering in the darkness. she HATED it being watched, she HATED it being followed. amelia wasn’t some kind of FREAK others were allowed to HUNT like an animal. her whole existence was blasphemy enough, so why couldn’t they just LET HER GO

i won’t join ANY kind of army, neither will i agree in one of your funny experiments. i’m not a ratshe was FED UP. angry. who wouldn’t ? less could amelia know that this man was far from any kind of creature she ever met and probably the most DANGEROUS of them all.

❝ —– an’ i’m not a DOCTOR, but this ISN’T a game. ❞ well, that was one way of putting it as ky’lar made his way forward,

❝ you can PICK a side or not. either way, i DOUBT anyone will care, but you think i’m some sort of RECRUITER? ❞ he shook his head a few times,

❝ i’m NOT, but consider me something a bit MORE of a…. i don’t CARE type. ❞ there was a SHRUG,

❝ rather, i DON’T care about you, type. ❞

“ ——and WHAT are you going to do to me ?? ” august snorts, ROLLING his eyes in mock amusement. “ do you think you’re SCARY, ky? i’m SHAKING IN MY SHOES right now. ” sarcasm is a second language for the nephilim. “ if YOU’RE so certain you figure something out, then get to it. i don’t have time to be dealing with your bullshit. ”

image

❝ that is where we DIFFER. ❞ the words were stated BLUNTLY as he made his way forward,

❝ i take matters SERIOUSLY. you , on the OTHER hand do not. ❞ that much was a FACT in the demon’s mind,

❝ think of it THIS way; when i find what’s NEEDED? you’ll know. i can ASSURE you of that. ❞

rufus didn’t doubt it one bit that it was out of spite. he knew all about how some souls ended up in hell and it wasn’t pretty or fair, much like life. he wouldn’t fool himself for one second with believing that he would be above all of that because he knew damn well he would be right in the middle of it. after enduring hell, there was no hope for anyone to come out of it without wanting to unleash their suffering onto others.
❛ all i’m getting at is hunters… the good ones among us at least aren’t only out there to slash down anything that isn’t human. i know that any sort of monster can learn to be good, can want to be. and i don’t blame them if they never get to that point. ❜

❛ we all do things we regret. ❜ rufus was a hell of a lot more apt to judge humans than monsters. he had got out of hunting for a long while, but he had always kept his eye on the newspaper. it had been ingrained in him. still, the wish to go out there and stop monsters from hurting people hadn’t ever overpowered his wish to stay out of it until dean came knocking at his door for a tip on bela talbot.

image

❛ true, but not all monsters start out that way. some….have no choice and have no one to guide them to be any differently. ❜ it was, ironically, a very harsh truth that had taken him years to admit, but all the same, he knew how things were the first several years. once the over-all shock washed away, he could do whatever he wanted, and it turned bad —- quite quickly actually.

though, even then, there were times where he could feel regret, and he hid from everyone. it was a duality that he had built up —- even to the point of not believing he could commit such actions, but all the same, the truth of the matter eventually came out, and he had to chose a side —- he just chose demon’s as he didn’t have to control himself any longer. it was a foolish decision, but one that he wished he could have taken back every day,

❛ they chose the easier option…. then find themselves at the end of a hunter’s blade.  ❜

“Earth has always been under Heaven’s protection, regardless of what your kind chooses to believe.” He should know; his own garrison was tasked with protecting it, after all. It’s been some time since he’s taken a vessel and walked amongst humans like he is now, but that doesn’t mean that he hasn’t been protecting his father’s creations from the ill intentions of creatures such as demons. His blade is still in his hand, and he raises it in warning. “Leave, or I will lay you to waste.”

image

❝ you say that now, but where we’re you when cities burned, when plagues swept across countries killing thousands, and where were you when people died due to my mistakes? ❞ honestly, he didn’t expect an answer, but he thought his words would get the point across that angels did nothing rather than protect humans,

❝ earth may be under the host’s protection, but i’ve never seen it —- not even before i was reduced to this. ❞

image

In a PERFECT world, he would have LISTENED first before giving his ANSWER, and THOUGHT things through. Sadly enough, this WASN’T

a perfect world; Ky’lar KNEW that no matter what was said, he wouldn’t ENJOY it, and it was WHY he wasn’t going to BUDGE from his PROCLAMATION unless it was something truly DECENT that BENEFITED himself in some way.

❝ My ANSWER will NOT change. ❞
